By Paul Nyathi|Police in Harare have revealed that they have nabbed up to twenty high profile armed robbers in and around Harare in the last few weeks.
Police Spokesperson Paul Nyathi revealed to the media on Friday that at least twenty of the thugs who are linked to an organised trend of hijackings, kidnappings, rape and armed robberies were picked up by the police.
According to Nyathi, about fifty stolen vehicles, firearms and live ammunition were recovered from the thugs.
The police spokesperson also indicated that over $100 000 of stolen cash was recovered from the group.
“We want to thank members of the public for working well with the police in bringing these thugs to book,” said Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi.
Early this year when the thugs started their operations, members of the public raised an alarm that there was a group of armed people terrorising people and was referred to as Mabhinya.
Police moved in swiftly and dismissed the rumour.
