A man from Chief Zimuto Area in Masvingo District went berserk and stabbed his mother three times with a kitchen knife.

Arlington Tukunuku who had been taken to an apostolic sect for a healing session later fell into a trance and attempted to stab himself.

Arlington appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Langton Ndokera yesterday.

The court heard that Arlington was taken to the apostolic sect by his parents on June 2 after indicating he was being haunted by evil spirits.

He later woke up and attempted to commit suicide and his father stopped him from stabbing himself.

He then stabbed his mother Netsai Tukunuku, three times with the knife and vanished from the scene.

His mother sustained serious injuries.Trial will continue on June 19.
