Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has given itself a pat on the back following its live coverage of MDC Alliance manifesto launch.

Last Thursday the national broadcaster broke with tradition and beamed live the MDC T manifesto launch taking the whole nation by surprise.

The national broadcaster says it has been given thumbs by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in fulfilling its national duties by beaming live programmes as stipulated by the Electoral Act.

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has been commended for giving fair coverage of political parties as the nation gears up for harmonised elections to be held next month.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) gave thumbs up to the national broadcaster for being guided by the Electoral Act in the nation’s build up to harmonised elections.

In an interview with ZBC News, ZEC commissioner, Dr Qhubani Moyo said the national television has of late upheld tenets of a public service broadcaster which is critical for the nation to achieve undisputed elections since Zimbabwe’s independence.

For transparency’s sake, Dr Moyo said ZEC is currently facilitating the pre-election observer operations where stakeholders will review the nation’s election preparations.

The national broadcaster has also beamed live programmes as stipulated by the Electoral Act.
