By Own Correspondent| The MDC Alliance elections directorate has resolved that the party’s deputy treasurer Charlton Hwende will stand as the Alliance’s Kuwadzana East parliamentary candidate.

MDC T National Chairperson, Morgen Komichi revealed that Hwende had been endorsed as the 2018 MDC Alliance candidate for Kuwadzana East.

This follows the confusion in Kuwadzana East which saw the postponement of primary elections several times over allegations of violence and intimidation by Hwende’s biggest contender, Shakespear Mukoyi, leader of the party’s youth wing, the Vanguard.

Komichi said, “We made a decision in
Kuwadzana East…. out of what happened last week, so Hwende is the candidate.”

Komichi also revealed that the party’s elections directorate had resolved and endorsed the candidature of Prosper Mutseyami for Chikanga- Dangamvura Constituency in Manicaland.

“The party agreed using the same formula for Chikanga- Dangamvura where there was a lot of violence and we have done our assessment and analysis and Prosper Mutseyami is the candidate.”

Mutseyami was tussling against Women’s League boss, Lynette Karenyi.

The late founder and leader of the party Morgen Tsvangirai’s daughter, Vimbai was also given the nod to contest on the MDC Alliance ticket for Glen View constituency in Harare.
