By A Correspondent| Below are sad pictures of a lion ensnared in Kariba yesterday. The Kariba Animal Welfare Trust reports saying:

Carl ( Res Darter) was asked to accompany 2 other stakeholders to check on an unused road into a fairly remote area between Kariba and Makuti. Look what they came across on the way. Not such a beautiful sight!

This poor girl could have travelled from the Makuti side or the Kariba side with this wire or picked it up along the way or in the area she is in – we will never know. She is by water, which is about the only thing that has probably been keeping her alive.

Parks Authorities, (AWARE) Dr Lisa Marabini, Anton Newall and KAWFT are heading back there in the morning in the hopes she will still be alive and easily found, darted, wire removed and all wounds tended to.

She will also be left with food to build her strength up so she can fend for herself again.

She has a fighting chance with all of our help, as they are so resilient and we are hopeful she will then be able to make her way back to which ever girls she hangs with Kariba or Makuti side

APPEAL TO RECOVER TREATMENT COSTS
Help us give her the best shot at survival, if you can assist in saving this girl, with help for fuel or the cost of, drugs and feed, please see the payment options at the bottom of this update and if possible mark them Kaburi Lioness as we would like to make sure we cover the cost of the others travelling from Harare as well as the other costs incurred.

Will be most appreciated no matter how much, it all adds up before you know it

THANK YOU ….
Thank you for your support for our Wildlife.
The work could not be done without you all
