The current report states that Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ Gender Secretary, Moreblessing Madambi was attacked by at least 8 men from the Presidential Guard on Saturday 08 September 2018 night.

The Union leader was tracked from the Mary Chiwenga organised beauty contest. She was abducted by around 8 unidentified assailants at Mverechena shops in Domboshava and was interrogated and tortured for the rest of Saturday night.

The leader is injured and has been keeping this to herself for fear of further victimisation.

The Union is still to receive finer details on reasons for the abduction and torture.

The Union implores the state to guarantee safety of education practitioners in line with the Oslo Safe schools declaration of 2015. The security of education workers is critical for quality education delivery in our schools.

The case is still to be reported to police as Union leader is still afraid to even leave home.
