By Own Correspondent| Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, George Guvamatanga has revealed that the government has not yet bought cars for cabinet ministers.
The statement follows media reports that the government has bought top of the range cars for ministers.
Guvamatanga however refuted the allegations and said:
“Treasury is yet to fork out a single cent for the vehicles of the cabinet ministers. We have always maintained that when conditions improve that is when we will consider that.”
Deputy Minister for Information and Broadcasting Energy Mutodi also said:
“We are conscious of the fact that ministers need cars but we can’t purchase vehicles when people are suffering. That is why the government stopped buying vehicles for parliamentarians to channel resources towards fighting the cholera epidemic.”-StateMedia
