Own Correspondent|Football legend George Shaya is still admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital and is recovering well after he had his left leg amputated last week.

The five-time Soccer Star of the Year had been subject to speculative social media reports which suggested that he had died.

Former Wankie Football Club great Weekly Mwale who has in the past weeks been active in giving updates on Shaya’s health progress was one of the early people to mourn the “passing on” of the former Dynamos great leaving several convinced that the man had indeed passed on.

However, a source close to the family later told ZimEye.com that the rumour was untrue and his friends and family members had visited him earlier in the day and were looking to visit again in the evening.

Mwale and several other people who were already sending condolence messages to the family through social media immediately pulled down the social media posts.

The ex-DeMbare great has been battling ill-health for some time and last Wednesday doctors recommended his leg, which was suffering from serious infection, be amputated.
