Police in Masvingo are looking for two brothers who brutally killed their brother-in-law.

The two brothers, Levison and Enock Hlongwane of Chigalo Village under Chief Sengwe in Chiredzi allegedly assaulted Clever Shimbini (33) of the same village to death with open hands and booted feet.

The victim died a day later.

Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm receiving a report of murder involving two brothers and a brother-in-law in Chiredzi.

The deceased was fatally assaulted by his brothers-in-law who then disappeared from the scene.

The family of the deceased then buried the body without notifying the police,” said Dehwa.

“The two brothers passed through Shimbini’s yard who was drunk around 7 pm.
Shimbini confronted them, accused them of trespassing and slapped both in-laws, who then responded in kind and left him vomiting and writhing in pain.

Shimbini died the following day on the way to a clinic and his family made a U-turn, buried him without reporting to the police.”

However, acting on a tip-off, neighbourhood watch committee members reported the matter to Chikombedzi Police.

Police went to the homestead and confirmed the burial but failed to locate the Hlongwane brothers.
