Own Correspondent|The African Union’s silence on the modern day slavery of Africans particularly in Arab nations like Kuwait and the ill treatment of Africans in the Middle East is a particular concern.

However the continental union which consisting of 55 member states located on the continent of Africa, has been seen to be very vocal with regards dictatorships and protection of tyrants such as Omar al-Bashir.
On Thursday the AU criticised the military ouster of Sudan’s veteran president Omar al-Bashir and called for calm and restraint.

“The military take-over is not the appropriate response to the challenges facing Sudan and the aspirations of its people,” said a statement from Moussa Faki, chairperson of the AU Commission.

Social media platforms have been abuzz with many Africans criticising the AU for only focusing on protecting the African political leaders while remaining silent with regards the suffering of thousands from Africa sold and used as modern day salves.
