England-based Macauley Bonne has declared he is travelling with the team to the 2019 Afcon despite being left out of the provisional squad announced on Tuesday.

Bonne was dropped from the selection due to delays in getting him a local passport as he holds British citizenship and new government laws require him to denounce it first.

But following the squad announcement, the Leyton Orient striker took to Twitter to “clear the air”, saying he has completed everything needed to get the passport and is going to Afcon with the team.

“To counter the press reports, I have completed all necessary documents to get my Zimbabwe passport. I will be travelling to AFCON2019 this summer, representing my country,” he wrote on Twitter.

On Tuesday, Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare also hinted on Bonne’s late inclusion in the squad on condition the process is finished before the tournament.

Meanwhile, Bonne has featured for the national team before, in two friendly matches in 2017, and efforts to bring him for the 2019 Afcon qualifiers didn’t come to fruition due to the passport issues.
