Below is Linda Masarira’s Labour, Economists and African Democrats (LEAD) party statement on the Lupane East by-election.

As a newly launched political party – Labour, Economists and African Democrats (LEAD) – we are optimistic of winning the Lupane East constituency by-election as we seek to lead dejected Zimbabweans who are anxiously waiting for real and positive change in their lives.

As a party we have shown our serious commitment to improve the social and economic standing of Zimbabweans, as we have already set in motion our campaign to drum up support for Morgan Ndlovu as our candidate for the Lupane East National Assembly by-election that is scheduled for 3rd August 2019.

LEAD was launched in Harare in April this year and the party is led by popular human rights defender and labour rights activist Linda Masarira.

LEAD party will take this opportunity of contesting the Lupane East constituency by election as a first stepping stone to create a social democratic society that is directed by a peoples’ government.

The LEAD President Masarira, our candidate Morgan Ndlovu and the campaign team will be firmly in their strong elements, as the campaign trail heads for Lupane East constituency.

Zimbabweans across the country, especially those in the rural areas, are yelling for a change of living lifestyles and conditions following miserable and shoddy service being currently undertaken by the current office bearers.

As LEAD we want to give real taste of change and prudent service delivery mainly due to our competent hands on the wheel of governance.

As LEAD we want to be part of that team that is determined to infuse new dynamism and positive change in the people’s lives from now and beyond.

As a party, the LEAD has a firm and solid imprint in the rural areas and the campaign trail will henceforth be heavily tilted towards the rural areas, where the majority of weather-beaten Zimbabweans reside.

We now challenge all progressive loving Zimbabweans and the voters in Lupane East constituency to come and join the LEAD vision and see for themselves that we are ready to deliver.

Together we can.
