By Farai D Hove| ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has compared Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube with legends the likes of the late Bernard Chidzero.
Chidzero was Finance Minister between 1985–1995.
Mnangagwa said Mthuli Ncube has done better than all Finance Ministers for the last 38 years.
Mnangagwa was speaking to Bloomberg when he said, “I’ve been in govt for 38 years as minister and I can’t remember when you ever had a budget surplus.
“Now, this young man has been able to achieve a budget surplus in less than 8 months. So it tells me that what he tells me is possibly true on these issues.”
Mnangagwa said
“It is necessary that we have our own currency,”
“I have faith that we’ll achieve that even before the end of the year or by the first quarter of next year.”
