By A Correspondent- The ZRP this morning blocked the launch of a clean up campaign by opposition leader Nelson Chamisa telling him to join President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the rest of the nation and clean up Zimbabwe the first Friday of the month.

A senior MDC official from Chitungwiza confirmed to ZimEye that the police had initially consented to the clean up program slated for unit L shops in Chitungwiza today (Friday) only to send their police details armed to the tooth to disperse party supporters who had gathered for the event.

Said the source:

“The police were armed and they even had dogs as early as 7am and party supporters gathered at the venue were left agitated and confused. The police told us that the program had been cancelled and we were supposed to join ED and the rest of the nation and clean up the country the first Friday of the month.”

In his Agenda 2020 address at Stoddart Hall in Mbare, MDC leader Nelson Chamisa said he would soon launch Tsvaira Zimbabwe, a clean up campaign which aimed at not only sweeping and cleaning up the nation in both urban and rural areas but would also clean up the social, economic and political ills bedevilling the nation.

Efforts to get a comment from the MDC and police were futile by the time of writting.
