Zanu PF Blocks Renaming Of Masvingo Street After Morgan Tsvangirai

Farai Dziva|There was chaos during a council meeting in the ancient city of Masvingo last week when Zanu PF and MDC councillors nearly exchanged blows over the renaming of a main street.

Impeccable sources told ZimEye.com matters came to a head when MDC councillors proposed that the main street should be renamed after the late veteran opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai while those from Zanu PF indicated that the same street should be dedicated to the late former Vice President Simon Muzenda.

“As we speak, councillors from Zanu PF and MDC are at loggerheads.

The Local Government indicated that streets in the Central Business District should be renamed after perceived legends.

There was chaos during a council as councillors from the two parties exchanged harsh words,” said a council employee who spoke to ZimEye.com.
