Below is the Pretoria embassy’s response on allegations of cyclone donations being stuck since early last year.

People have been saying the goods could be put to good use if sent towards the Binga flood crisis.

One Admore Chamanga complained on the twitter website saying, “We donated lots of food, water, blankets, mealie meal for cyclone Idai last year through the Embassy of Zimbabwe.

“It’s still packed the same way it was at the embassy in Pretoria Marton street yet people are suffering. Cant they give a waiver totakura tega over 30 tonnes of food.”

Responding, Ambassador Hamadziripi told ZimEye:

We managed to send some of the donations to Zimbabwe last year.

“We have been looking for transport for the remainder of the goods. It’s not as if we are deliberately keeping the donation at the Embassy.

“If you are aware of any potential provider of transport, let him or her get in touch with Mrs Sibanda at the Embassy.”
