By Own Correspondent| South African based Newsroom Afrika journalist, Mweli Masilela has been shot by South African police while covering Taxi shutdown protests in Mpumalanga.
Posting on Twitter, Masilela said police fired rubber bullets while trying to disperse taxi drivers who were blocking roads leading to townships.
“Just got shot while covering the #TaxiShutdown in KaNyamazane in Mpumalanga. Police fired rubber bullets just a few minutes after arriving in the area to disperse taxi drivers who were blocking the road leading to the township,” said Masilela.
