INCIDENT REPORT : CHICKEN INN FORT STREET

BRIEF DETAILS
i) On Thursday 20 August 2020, at about 1130hrs, Chantelle Sibalwa(18yrs), ID Number 63-2823037-B-29, cell number 0773147345 and residing at house number 74 Colen Brander road,Northend, Bulawayo, entered the shop just like any other customer and ordered a 2 piecer chicken Inn box using a US$100 note, serial number KB74984746B.
ii)Upon payment the cashier by the name Sanelisiwe Mhlanga realised that the note was fake. She quickly notified her shift manager, Nyarai who in turn alerted PA Mgcini Moyo who was on Roving. The accused was detained by PA Mgcini.

iii) P/Sgt Major Nsimba was called and during the initial stages of questioning the accused, Area Controller E.Zinyengere and P/Insp. I. Simbini arrived, and the three grilled the accused with questions left, right and centre.

iii. The accused kept on changing stories, as to where she got the money from. Eventually, the accused revealed that the fake $100 note was the work of her stay in boyfriend who specialises in manufacturing counterfeit notes and that there were more fake notes at her place together with the machine used to manufacture the notes.

iv. The accused person was taken to Bulawayo Central Police Station and upon arrival PO Edwin Zinyengere liased with the Officer In Charge, and two plain clothed police officers, Cst. Mufuma and Cst. Mazokera, were seconded to team Blackshark to accompany them to the accused person’s place of residence.

v. On arrival, the accused produced from under the mattress, a bunch of fake notes in the following denominations;
12 × US$100-00
4 × US$50-00
11 × US$10-00
13 × US$5-00
17 × R100-00.
The total amount of fake notes recovered was US$2265-00 and R1 700-00.
vi. Also recovered was items used in manufacturing the fake notes, an HP Diskjet printer Serial number CN442175TZ, bond paper, rulers and razor blades.

vii. The accused, Chantelle, further revealed that her boyfriend’s young brother, by the name Onesmus Zimunya, was also involved. The accused led the investigating team, to Onesmus’ place, and when he was searched by the police, they found a fake US$10 in his pockets and he was also arrested.

viii. The two accused persons, were then taken to Bulawayo Central Police Station.

*FINDINGS*
* Chantelle, the accused, knowingly tried to defraud Simbisa using a fake $100 US note.
*The cashier, Sanelisiwe and PA Mgcini did a good job for showing vigilance whilst on duty.
* PO Edwin Zinyengere and his two lieutenants, Ins Simbini and P/Sgt . Major Nsimba, managed to open a cane of worms through their investigative methods and managed to lead the police to a high profile case.

*ACTION TAKEN*
Blackshark and Simbisa management were advised.
