Human rights lawyer Doug Coltart has condemned the denial of bail to ZINASU President Takudzwa Ngadziore saying the basis used to incarcerate him does not make sense as he is the one who was attacked.

Ngadziore’s bail application was dismissed with the Harare Magistrates court saying his release will threaten peace of public order.

But Coltart said peacefully holding a press conference demanding accountability cannot be a basis for denying Ngadziore his freedom.

“It’s tragically ironic that @ngadziore has been denied bail on the basis that releasing him will “undermine the peace” when he is the one who was attacked. Why? For peacefully holding a press conference demanding accountability for abductions,” said Coltart.

Ngadziore was severely assaulted by unknown assailants who besieged a press conference he was holding near Impala car rental demanding accountability for Tawanda Muchehiwa abductors.

Journalists were also assaulted and had their gadgets confiscated during the melee.
