By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has applauded trendsetting traditional healer Sekuru Banda for his unrecognised ambassadorial work which has lured a lot of tourists into the country with some keen to set up investments in most untapped sectors including tourism and mining.

This followed a delegation of investors who visited Sekuru Banda from Scotland.

The investors, Bruce Gomwe and Brian Shonna who are both Directors of Global Core last visited Zimbabwe 25 years ago and are currently in the country.

Speaking to journalists this Thursday, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Head Corporate Communications, Godfrey Koti said Dr Banda’s line of work has been racking in international visitors to Zimbabwe.

“Sekuru Banda has been instrumental in luring international travellers mainly due to his line of work. As Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) we are interested in those people who have so much interests to take tourism to high levels. We are also grateful that his line of work has actually lured business gurus who have taken the stance to invest in our tourism sector,”

Sekuru Banda said that he is eager to lure more travellers from outside the country. Over the years he has received visitors from as far as United Kingdom, North America, USA, and Australia among other countries.

“I am happy that some of my visitors are seeing opportunities to invest in Zimbabwe,” Sekuru Banda said.

Shonna reiterated that they were happy to return home after 25 years and were impressed by infrastructural development in Zimbabwe.

“The last time we were here, there were not so many buildings being built and from what we see in international media it appears there is a wrong impression about the country and that has to change.

“More people are building exquisite houses in Harare and that is a good thing. Of course, every country has its problems but it’s not what is portrayed in international media,” he said.

Gomwe challenged local media to use their resources to reflect Zimbabwe positively to the outside world so as to promote domestic tourism.

The two unveiled plans to build a holiday resort around Victoria Falls so as to lure international visitors. At present, the ZTA is on a campaign to market domestic tourism through the #ZimBho, IZim yami campaign aimed to increasing local tourism.
