Reports just received indicate that ZESA CEO Sydney Gata survived an assassination attempt in the streets of Harare.

According to sources, unidentified gunmen shot at Gata’s vehicle along Airport Road on Saturday afternoon.

Gata was a few months ago suspended by then Energy Minister Fortune Chasi and put on ZACC investigation.

He was unceremoniously reinstated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa who subsequently dismissed Chasi instead.
