By A Correspondent- Senator Douglas Mwonzora has said trashed clais that the MDC T has split following the chaos that rocked the party’s Extra Ordinary Congress held in the capital Harare Sunday.

The party’s interim president Thokozani Khupe and Senator Morgen Komichi declared that the elections were rigged and nullified the whole event.

Khupe and Komichi had to run for dear life afterwards after suspected followers of secretary general Mwonzora pelted the top table with some empty and half empty water bottles accusing the two of trying to stop a party extraordinary congress taking place at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.

In an interview with journalists at the venue following the chaos, Mwonzora chided Khupe and Komichi and urged them to relax, cool down and accept the outcome of the elections.

He said:

“I expect them (Khupe and Komichi) to cool down, to relax and accept the verdict of the people. I don’t think it is a split. A split is where the owners of the MDC T split. The owners of the MDC in this regard are intact and as you see, as you saw it was individual candidates who saw how the election was going who have moved out.

The members of congress remained and resolved that they should continue and they have continued. I can’t be suspended by a fellow candidate in an election during an election. And in a few minutes, hours time we will have a new president and it is up to that president and the national executive to deal with that matter. It is an act of illegality.”
