By A Correspondent- A man from Bulawayo allegedly assaulted his wife before his mother following a heated argument in which he was accusing her of not respecting him as her husband.
This was after his wife reminded him that he should not forget to buy locks for their house in the rural areas.
This was heard when Tinaye Murehwa (37) from Mzilikazi suburb appeared before the court charged with physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) read with Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Murehwa was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 23 September 2021 on $6 000 bail.
Allegations are that on 9 September 2021 at around 8.30 pm Murehwa’s wife Patience Ncube (31) was at home with the accused’s mother. When Murehwa arrived, the complainant reminded him that he had to buy locks for their house in the rural area and give them to his mother who was going there the following day.
This, however, reportedly didn’t go down well with Murehwa and he started shouting at Ncube saying as a wife she should not tell him what to do.
In a fit of rage, Murehwa reportedly assaulted his wife with fists all over the body before he violently kicked her on the lower abdomen where she was recently operated on.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Murehwa’s arrest.
