By A Correspondent|Agents of Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration have placed opposition activists who fled the country due to political persecution on wanted list.

Leading human rights defenders have denounced the persecution of opposition activists by the Zanu PF regime.

One such opposition activist who has been placed on the Zanu PF wanted list is Kudakwashe Nyome. He fled to America following relentless persecution from the Zanu PF regime.

Nyome’s family members are being harassed and tormented by the government agents who are demanding to know his whereabouts.

“Government agents are besieging our neighbourhood saying we should disclose Kudakwashe Nyome’s whereabouts.

We have been threatened with unspecified action. We are now fearing the worst,” one of Nyome’s relatives said.

In 2021 Nyome, the former MDC Alliance Gweru Urban Youth Assembly chairperson, was assaulted by men in military uniform for allegedly plotting to remove Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa from power.

Nyome was also attacked by men using an unregistered vehicle.

He was denied legal representation and barred from seeing his relatives. He was also denied food.

“On September 20, Zanu PF youths approached Nyome and told him he would be punished for working with western forces to disrupt government programmes.

The youths also accused him of being unpatriotic and working with agents of regime change to sabotage the new dispensation,” said a human rights organization reported in 2021.
