In a significant drug bust, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police at a security roadblock near the 10-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road apprehended an Inter Africa bus on September 22, 2023.
The operation resulted in the arrest of bus driver Tonderai Mafo (48), bus conductor Mberikunashe Allen (25), and two passengers, Pauline Mudakuvaka (36) and Alice Mutanda (68).
The police intercepted the bus and discovered a staggering 62 kilograms of dagga hidden on board. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and ensure road safety.
Authorities continue to investigate the source and destination of the narcotics, emphasizing their commitment to tackling illegal drug trade in the region. The arrested individuals are expected to face charges related to drug possession and trafficking, as police strengthen their vigilance in monitoring transport routes.
