Following the recent appointment of Sithethelelwe Sibanda as the head coach of Zimbabwe’s women’s national football team, the Zimbabwe Football Association Nomalisation Committee has announced the complete technical team in preparation for the upcoming 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship. This tournament will take place in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, from October 22 to November 2.
Sibanda, who has taken the helm of the Mighty Warriors, will be supported by Primrose Serima, the coach of the Maningi Queens, as her assistant.
The coaching staff also includes former Mighty Warriors goalkeeper Onai Chingawo, who will serve as the goalkeeper’s coach. Completing the all-female technical team are Debra Green from Kwekwe United, appointed as the new team manager, and Margaret Maulana, who will fulfill the role of team doctor.
The Mighty Warriors have been placed in Group D, alongside Lesotho and Mozambique.
Their campaign will kick off with a match against Mozambique on October 24 at 3 PM CAT, followed by a clash with Lesotho on October 27, also at 3 PM CAT.
The group winner, along with top finishers from Groups A, B, and C, will secure a place in the semifinals.
As the team gears up for this significant tournament, the appointment of an all-female technical team marks a milestone for women’s football in Zimbabwe, showcasing the talent and capability within the nation’s female football community.
