A 67-year-old Shurugwi man, Twoboy Shamhu, appeared in court facing bestiality charges for having sex with his neighbor’s calf.

Shamhu claimed he was driven to the act due to being sex-starved by his girlfriend and the loss of his wife.

He also blamed evil spirits for his actions.

Magistrate Sithabile Zungula sentenced Shamhu to six months in jail, suspending two months on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining four months were commuted to community service, although the exact number of hours was not specified.
