Terrence Mawawa, Chiredzi| A Zanu PF MP some have alleged to be aligned to the G-40 faction, was assaulted by Team Lacoste youths during a party meeting here last weekend.

Chiredzi West MP Darlington Chiwa was confronted by Team Lacoste youths who pushed and shoved him violently. The incident happened at Batanai Primary School.

Party sources said the rowdy youths were bussed from Chikombedzi and Mwenezi.

“The youths charged at Chiwa and dragged him out of a classroom at Batanai Primary School as he was about to address the meeting.

They pushed and shoved him violently,” said a party source.

However Chiwa denied he was assaulted by the youths. He said the youths uttered unprintable words and threatened to assault him.

“The issue is not in any way linked to factional battles. There are some people who are targeting my constituency and they know I am very popular here.

So they are causing havoc here.I will not be deterred by their threats,” said Chiwa.
