By Staff Reporter| Some Zimbabweans took turns to mock Vice President Constantino Chiwenga over his slip, or is it rather “flip” of the tongue when delivering a speech at the opening of the tobacco season. Many even created memes and themes while making mirth with footage of the VP.

Chiwenga was filmed repeating a few English words during his address to delegates in Harare. “It is therefore incumbent upon farmers to ensure their crop to cushion themselves from, to ensure their crop from, their crop, to cushion themselves from the debilitating effects of climate change,” said Chiwenga.

Critic Francis Mufambi says there is nothing unnatural from the video. He wrote saying, “what is wrong with VP Chiwenga using a complete Shona tone when speaking a foreign language?

“People should read a book by Ngugi Wa Thiongo namely ‘Decolonising The Mind’…..why would an African think intelligence and ability starts with speaking English fluently and using a whiteman tone? Poor, Indeed Poor…

If ever I will have a chance to address an international forum especially that of white people like before i will do so in Complete Karanga and interpretation is their own business.
