Soldier Caught on Camera Kneeling & Shooting At Civilians Can Be Investigated, Says Attorney General Prince Machaya

Jane Mlambo| Attorney General Prince Machaya has revealed that the soldier who was caught on camera kneeling at shooting at civilians on the 1st of August can be investigated.
Machaya who appeared before the commission of Inquiry into the 1st of August shootings also said only the President has the power to deploy soldiers adding that the Minister of Defence should seek the authority of the President.
Machaya conceded that when read in isolation, POSA creates impression that Defence Minister can deploy defence forces without authority from the President.
