Paul Nyathi|Alpha Media Holdings owner Trevor Ncube has said brewed a major shocker when he suggested that Ndebele people in South Africa are the worst in supporting xenophobia probably against fellow Zimbabweans of Shona origin.

In a highly sensational tweet on Sunday, Ncube accused IsiNdebele speaking Zimbabweans of taking advantage of their closeness to South African tribes to turn against other African nationals in taking part in the xenophobic attacks that he prefers to call Afrophobia instead of xenophobia.

Ncube said: “Zimbabweans from Matabeleland with SA Citizenship/Residence are the worst apologists to Afrophobia.

“They mistakenly think their proximity to Nguni Heritage is protection to incidiary hatred of black Africans. #NoToAfrophobia

The tweet has attracted a huge debate on social media with some people accusing Ncube of missing the point while others decided to bash the media mogul who has been very apologetic to ZANU PF of late.

South Africa has been experiencing fierce xenophobic violence in the last two weeks in which Zimbabweans especially ChiShona speakers have been victims.

Several people have been killed in the incidents three of whom were suspected to be Zimbabweans.
