IT was the icing on the cake!

Nothing ever stops wedding guests from their favourite part of the event for the day — eating.

And for a Bulawayo couple, minutes from exchanging their vows and with guests queuing for food on an aisle of tables set at a hotel garden — the surprise entry of an “uninvited guest” had even the most known food lovers temporarily forgetting about their heaped plates of food.

A Bulawayo couple, Terrence Mazalu and Lindiwe Mthethwa, had a surprise visitor in the mould of Jah Prayzah who gate-crashed their wedding.

Jah Prayzah was passing by Hotel St Patrick’s when he heard one of his songs Ndini Ndamubata being played at a wedding reception inside. He turned his convoy and entered the wedding venue uninvited.

Just as the newlyweds were enjoying their moment, the whole place went quiet and shortly after echoing screams were heard as people faced the direction of the entrance where Jah Prayzah was standing.

The couple was worried over what could be happening, and why people were screaming.

When they heard Chengetedza Rudo rwe moyo wangu the newly weds quickly knew who it was and left their bridal table towards Jah Prayzah.

In an interview with B-Metro, Mazalu said they were surprised and happy at the same time because they didn’t expect Jah Prayzah to be performing at their wedding.

‘‘We were shocked when we saw him. We had just started eating when he took the microphone. My wife was very happy and started screaming. We could not believe our eyes and how lucky we were to have our favourite artiste perform for free at our wedding,’’ said Mazalu.

‘‘This was the best surprise gift any one could ask for, it was an icing on the cake,’’ he added.

When Jah Prayzah took to the stage, he first advised the couple about marriage and that the two were lucky because it was a blessing from God.

‘‘Marriage is a good and blessed thing; it should be cherished and not taken lightly. The couple which got married today are lucky and blessed, they should cherish their love,’’ he said.

He then performed two songs, Chengetedza and Shaina Tione.

‘‘After he finished his performance, we had a photoshoot with him. We still couldn’t believe it was happening. He was so friendly and we enjoyed spending the little time we had with him,” said Mazalu.

Mazalu was star struck.

‘‘I was still shocked so when I thanked him I froze and just said ‘Wow! Thanks’.

He smiled back and replied “It was a pleasure’’.
