FULL TEXT: Mnangagwa Donates Rice To Rural Communities

The Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare has an obligation to provide social protection services to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in Zimbabwe through social transfer programmes.

This includes among other interventions the provision of food relief to vulnerable households during times of drought And emergencies.

Further to this, there are a number of social protection programmes and strategies being implemented to ensure that all the vulnerable groups in society are reached, assisted and supported with social protection services.

The 2018/2019 Caroling season produced low yields duc to elnino-induccd drought leaving commtmities in dire need of food aid and our agricultural output was further ravaged by Cyclone Idai.

Pursuant to this, His Excellency, the President of the Second Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde ED. Mnangagwa has made a generous donation of 15 tons of Chinese rice to each rural constituency to feed rural populace during the festive season.

The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare guarantees that the donated rice will be distributed during the festive season.

In addition, distribution of grain will also continue to ensure that no one starves in Zimbabwe during this festive season and beyond.
