By Farai D Hove| As Emmerson Mnangagwa’s popularity and respect crashed within his own party this week,  the ZANU PF politburo yesterday saw its leader announcing that for the 1st time the country will hold its independence celebrations outside the capital city Harare. The function will be held on the 18th April 2020. He (Mnangagwa) called members to prepare for the 40th Independence anniversary, which he then rushed to announce saying will be held “outside Harare” for the first time since 1980. The development comes after ZANU PF leaders Godfrey Tsenengamu, and Lewis Matutu on Monday held a press conference in which they announced that Mnangagwa is tolerating the head of a notorious business cartel led by Constantino Chiwenga aide Kuda Tagwirei. They then threatened to confront him over it. The two revealed 12 layers of corruption which they said has led to “the ship sinking.” The layers are seen below:

During the anti sanctions march last October, the Mnangagwa led party failed to pull more than 3,000 people inside the National Sports Stadium. With the latest revelations by the 2 youth leaders, it is believed the ZANU PF leader’s popularity has grown worse than it was last year, and so a meeting particularly in Harare will be embarrassing.
