The Zanu PF regime has relaunched the controversial National Youth Service, notorious for its role in harassing opposition members during Robert Mugabe’s era.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere announced that over 1,000 youths have been recruited for the program. President Mnangagwa officially relaunched the initiative at the Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in Mashonaland East Province on May 24, 2024. Dr. Muswere made this announcement following last week’s Cabinet meeting, noting that 1,082 youths were recruited for the first intake at Vumba and Dadaya Training Centres.
