A disturbing trend of bestiality continues to plague Esigodini, Matabeleland South province, with another shocking incident reported.

Nkosikhona Moyo, a 23-year-old married herdsman, was arrested for raping a goat belonging to Munyaradzi Marufu from Njuka Farm.

Moyo’s actions sparked outrage in the community after the complainant discovered the unconscious goat with signs of violent sexual assault.

Following footprints from the goat pen led to Moyo’s arrest.

He pleaded guilty to bestiality charges before Esigodini Magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube and was fined US$150 or two months imprisonment.

Magistrate Ncube condemned Moyo’s “barbaric” conduct.

This incident comes just over a year after Mthandazo Ndlovu raped a goat to death in the same area.

Concerns about animal welfare and the need for stricter laws to protect animals from cruelty are growing.
