Terrence Mawawa, Zaka| The ruling party, Zanu PF has made it clear food aid will benefit only its members, a ruling party MP has announced.
Despite the critical shortage of food in most parts of the country, Zanu PF has taken over relief programmes, sidelining the department of Social Welfare and Non Governmental Organisations in the process.
Zaka Central MP, Paradzai Chakona told villagers at a meeting held at Jerera Growth Point last week that sellouts do not deserve to get food aid.
Chakona said the ruling party had the mandate to take control of food distribution programmes. Hundreds of villagers are facing starvation as a result of the manipulation of food aid by the ruling party.
He said the food was sourced by President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF. “We Zanu PF people should monitor the distribution of food because we sourced it. Last time I gave the maize which I sourced to Zanu PF supporters and members as a way of thanking them for voting for the party,” said Chakona.
The ruling party hardliner also said he would not work with opposition councillors because they were traitors. “I do not have a councillor in this ward -maybe you have. I cannot work with an MDC councillor,” said Chakona.
The selective distribution of food has been reported across the country despite denial by Mugabe and government officials. Villagers have been forced to buy Zanu PF membership cards in order to receive food aid.

Blasphemous Liberator mentality. I am very much sure that the Aid organisations gave the food to the people of Zimbabwe (ie not The president. Not Zanu Pf or any other political party or church group or pastor. ) Mr Mugabe could not source any thing with out perilously dragging the nation down the drain.

So having a divergent view to that of a murderous regime is being a sellout? Supporting another political party other than ZANU PF is being a sellout? All the above are constitutional rights for all Zimbabweans according to the Zimbabwean constitution and in my opinion failing to do what you Swore when you took oath ‘..to uphold and protect the constitution of Zimbabwe..’ is being a real sellout not people exercising their fundamental rights under Zimbabwean law
