Mugabe, Mnangagwa Inseparable- Opposition

Robert Mugabe and Emmerson Mnangagwa during the Gukurahundi era

Terrence Mawawa

The country’s biggest opposition party, MDC has said President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his predecessor Robert Mugabe are inseparable.

In a message posted on MDC’ s Facebook page dubbed Nelson Chamisa for President yesterday, the party argued the old Zanu PF politicians were tired horses.

Below is the party’ s full statement:

Dr. Morgan Tsvangirai’s last message to the youths has generated an increase of
about 55% in the number of registered youths as compared to
2013.

Old politicians cannot solve today’s
problems.

The youths must take charge and shape
their future. Never think and
expect that very old men like Mugabe, Mnangagwa and
Mohadi can change our lives for the better when
they have exhibited failure in the past 37 years of
their unhindered rule.

Mnangagwa’ s futile attempts to exonerate himself from past crimes will never convince us. The man worked as Mugabe’s henchman for more than three decades – so his calculated ploy to hoodwink the people of Zimbabwe will not materialise.

Morgan Tsvangirai’s legacy lives on- may your soul
rest in eternal peace. Let your soul directs us on the
right path to the Promised Land. NelsonChamisa4president.

Fidze’ s disgruntled supporters have described the election as a farce.

“Mujuru Caught Up In MDC-T Primary Election Violence” Claims

Charlton Hwende Primary Election campaign poster allegedly being torn down by rivals

By Paul Nyathi|Members of the Joice Mujuru led National People’s Party have sent an SOS claiming to have been caught up in massive electoral violence in Kuwadzana High Density suburb of Harare.

In a message circulated to ZimEye.com, the NPP members claim that their campaign team was on Wednesday rounded up and harassed by suspected MDC-T supporters who were on a campaign trail for one of their party primary election candidates.

“Our team in Kuwadzana East right now has been intimidated and has had stones thrown at them. The team says a group of MDCT youths have been tearing down and burning many MDCT rival’s posters with their president picture on them,” says the message.

The MDC-T people are also intimidating people going door to door to known mdc activists demanding them not to vote for the rival opponent in the upcoming primary election threatening to “shoot to kill”. If this goes unchecked , the times ahead will not be good for anyone,” reads the message.

The MDC-T is going through a tightly contested primary election in the constituency between party Deputy President Charlton Hwende and Shakie Mukoyi to contest the seat left vacant by party President Nelson Chamisa.

MDC-T activists have also circulated a social media post claiming that Mukoyi is driving around the constituency armed with an unlicensed smuggled fire arm threatening to kill Hwende.

“Shackie Mukoyi is moving around with a loaded unlicensed gun in a white Car. He is threatening to kill Hwende his rival in kuwadzana. The gun was smuggled from Messina from money he was given by a guy called Puzzo the owner of the house he is staying in malbereign,” reads the message.

ZimEye.com has not been able to reach Hwende for a comment on the developments.

ARMY WILL BLOCK CHAMISA LATEST – Govt Finally Speaks On Mukupe’s Statement

Two days later, the Zimbabwean government has finally passed a comment on Deputy Finance Minister, Terrence Mukupe’s statement in which he says that the army will block Nelson Chamisa from presidency.

Now somewhat add salt to water, the state media, ignoring the LIVE video which is on the ministers portal, made reference to this statement, saying it’s source is rather a newspaper report made in the independent media.

Mukupe, in the video is heard clearly stating that the army did not remove former president Robert Mugabe in order to hand over power to the young MDC leader. The statement click here to read appears strongly as a declaration that Zimbabwe is not at all a civilian state at present it is under full military rule. VIDEO:

He made these comments while addressing a cell group in Mandara, Harare.

Said information Minister Khaya Moyo: “…such pronouncements have the negative effect of raising doubts on Government’s commitment to a free, fair and non-violent plebiscite as well as to its readiness to respect and uphold the will of the people of Zimbabwe as expressed through their electoral choices and decisions.”

He said campaigning candidates should stop dragging members of the security establishment into their political activities.

Secret Talks Between Chamisa And Mujuru | ANALYSIS

“PILLARS OF A STRONG ALLIANCE: THE CASE OF GAMBIAN COALITION OF 2016~ ZIMBABWE TOWARDS 2018“

By Nyahunda Struggle Desire

African politics has become so entrenched and clueless due to various factors dictating pace in the political conundrum. Long distance running and the sit tight syndrome among other things has affected and destabilized the smooth flow of political processes. Politics as a complicated art and a science discipline with complex theories surrounding it has caused hypertension, terminal diseases, heart attacks due to a myriad of reasons. Chief amongst them is failure to understand when to call it quits. All this must be blamed on the political culture that has invaded the terrain where bootlicking and praise singing is the only game in town.

Proximity to leaders is only created through nepotistic tendencies, loyalty and we were together in the trenches culture rather than performance based. Put simply, dictatorship is reigning supreme and is created by the people around leadership knowingly or unknowingly. Its a bad omen and dictatorship created by a people is not only difficult to dethrone because people might remove an individual but the dictatorship is centred on the system rather than an individual.

When the above happens, there is only one way to overhaul the system with its roots and branches which is an ALLIANCE OF LIKE MINDED ORGANISATIONS, POLITICAL INSTITUTIONS, CIVIC SOCIETIES, STUDENTS ORGANISATIONS with one ultimate goal and agenda to emancipate the people. Genuine organisations which share the same ideology and vision can not fail to shelf or put aside their differences for the cause of generality. This article will focus on the PILLARS THAT ANCHORED GAMBIAN ALLIANCE led Adama Barrow which deposed the then president Yahya Jameh in the run up to 2016 presidential election. It will further look into the nature of ALLIANCES in Zimbabwe, the weaknesses, causes of stalemate, and likely scenario in the run up to 2018 watershed elections.

*Gambian Coalition*
_________________

The coalition of Gambia was made up of 8 political parties namely Gambian Party for Democracy and Progres(GPDP) led by Henry Gomez, National Reconciliation Party (NRP) led by Hamat Bah, United Democratic Party (UDP) led by Adama Barrow, People’s Progressive Party(PPP), National Convention Party(NCP), Gambian Moral Congress(GMC), People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) Independent candidate and activist for anti-female genital mutilation Dr Isatou Touray. The reason why the coalition idea was proposed was due to various reasons the major one being division of votes and the confusion posed by multi partism to grassroot supporters. Divisions in opposition cause voter apathy whereby the people expect an obvious outcome and decide not to go to polling stations on the voting day or divorce themselves from associating with any of the political parties for the African proverb goes “when the elephants fight, grass suffers most”. To save face, many people opt to boycott any of the political activities and voting as well.

This was the scenario that kept Yahya Jameh in power for years. It took decades for political parties which were fighting in their corners to defeat the ruling party only until prominent individuals emerged and facilitated a dialogue amongst all parties despite their support base, history, or achievements in order to bring all people together. Fatoumata Tambajang led the negotiation process until Adama Barrow was unanimously elected to be the sole opposition presidential candidate. In this process, each political party was consulting its members to update them of the political developments going on. Political party leaders at several instances risked their positions in their respective parties because of some crucial decisions they made on behalf of the people. Risking means letting go of their constituencies and some areas of concern only to help in the emancipation of the people. Hiacynth agrees that good leaders takes risks, those who fear to risk will always run away from shadows of possibilities and would likely be devoured by history for having failed to steer the organisation. On this note, Gambian opposition political parties triumphed without taking away anything from them.

*MAJOR PILLARS OF THEIR SUCCESS*
_________________

1. Independent facilitator

The coalition talks was led by an independent facilitator and the process was not at all compromised. The facilitator was representing a constituency of Gambian voice of the people who were the suffering masses with everything to gain if political stability was to be achieved. The facilitator managed the political temperatures since almost about three or four leaders were ready to lead the Coalition

2. Resources

The opposition parties knew that their major blow was resource curse and the campaign was demanding a well oiled machinery and coordinated structures to match Yahya Jameh neck to neck. A race against a man who was abusing state resources versus the opposition dipping down from their poor pockets! That’s when amongst the contenders, one of the candidates pledged his preparedness to bankroll the election campaigns. This was an open and fair process which worked very well.

3. Inclusivity

The Gambian alliance was anchored on inclusiveness and oneness. All the political parties had reached a point where they realised that Jameh administration was so entrenched and no one party would defeat him. This was probably because the electoral commission played cards well in the event where several contenders participate. Political parties like NRC had contested before and got few seats in 2006, in 2011 the few seats they had were further lost. UDP faced the same scenario. A clamour for democracy must not take two decades to be achieved because the opposition parties would expose their weaknesses before being elected. Several splits were witnessed from 1999 and some political parties like GPDP were bared from contesting 2006 elections. Some iconic figures would be lost in the middle or critical point of the struggle. Hence, the players were all desperate for change and they include every stakeholder , all partners were treated equally without backbiting or bullying. Big brother mentality was set aside and this coalition was unshakable. Jameh tried to bribe some partners but it all failed.

4. WIN-WIN NEGOTIATION CLAUSE

Major obstacles to many negotiations and pacts is embroiled on the clauses guiding the settlement. Some partners usually negotiate with swords in their hands like Tsar Alexander 2nd at the Vienna Settlement in 1815. He ended up claiming more than his fair share by demanding Grand Duchy of Warsaw, Polish Corridor, demanding the “sick man” of Europe, Finland and interference in German Confederation. Secret pacts within the Coalition emerged due to bullying and undermining smaller powers. However, Hon Fatoumata Tambajang as the mediator was able to lay a platform of inclusivity. All partners were fairly treated, coalition agreement had no loopholes or controversial clauses, several factors were considered on the negotiation table putting in mind the fact that opposition had failed to remove Jameh in their smaller corners hence it was not at all about what other partners were bringing the unanimity clause was very important for it would boost morale and confidence of general members.

The partners were not going to their members to backbite other partners or inculcate divisions amongst members. They adopted a uniform symbol and colour to avoid one partner claiming to own Coalition members. Hence the play field was level in opposition. Opposition can not cry for level playing field when they can not level their own playing field where hook and crook, chicanery and expediency reigns

5. ARTICULATE AND CLEAR ROADMAP

The Gambian political parties united and made a clear roadmap to dislodge Jameh. The fact that the pact was led by a neutral person meant that there was a fair compromise. The parties agreed on symbols to be used during the elections, all parties declared their support base, spoils were agreed upon, code of conduct was crafted, modus operandi was clearly spelt out, the candidate who was elected contested as an independent candidate to allow unanimity to exist amongst general membership. Jameh was trounced

6. RESIGNATION OF ADAMA BARROW FROM POST OF TREASURER GENERAL

Prior to this general elections, Adama Barrow was a member of United Democratic Party (UDP) and he was the Treasurer General. When he was elected to lead the coalition, he resigned first from UDP and assumed the presidential candidate. His vision was to allow spirit of oneness and a united front against the incumbent. The major threat in many coalitions are praise singers and bootlickers. Many party members mislead their counterparts and demand more than what they deserve. Adama Barrow decided not to be owned by any of his political party members. His campaign terrain attracted thousands and there was no conspiracy against either partner. This ensured triumph of an idea whose time was nigh.

*OF ZIMBABWEAN COALITIONS*
_________________

There are several coalitions in Zimbabwe political conundrum which had been forged ahead of 2018 elections. COALITION OF DEMOCRATS (CODE), PEOPLE’S RAINBOW COALITION (PRC) and MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRATIC CHANGE ALLIANCE (MDC ALLIANCE) to mention just but a few.

I will however focus on the two major Alliances due to time factor and these are PRC which includes ZUNDE, DARE, PDP led by Madam Matibenga, NPP led by Dr Mujuru Joice and the MDC ALLIANCE with seven political parties which are TZ led J Ngaruvhume, MCD led by Guchutu, PDP led by Biti T, MDC led by Prof Ncube, ZANU NDONGA led by Sakunje, ZimPF led Rtd Brig Mutambara A, and MDCT led by Hon Chamisa N who is also the leader of the alliance.

There are several circumstances surrounding the formation of these coalitions and also why the parties are failing to reach an agreement. Some of the reasons are justified and some are baseless.

The opposition political parties reached a turning point whereby they realised that what divides the people is minor than what unites them.

The lesson of 2008 and 2013 election results was good enough to teach the people that history is the greatest enemy of the people especially if it repeats itself. Claims are that ZEC tampered with election results in 2008 and gave Makoni the votes which were garnered by Dr Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDCT. However, academics blame this electoral loss to splits and divisions in the opposition camp. Mdc rallied behind Makoni Simba, and MdcT rallied behind Morgan Tsvangirai. Zanu Pf walked home smiling when they were offered the life line due to divisions. As if that was not enough, MdcT and Mdc N failed to get a single seat in Mat South and lost several seats in Mat North. Analysts posited that if MdcT and MDC N were united in 2013, Zanu Pf would have lost all the seats in Mat South and Mat North. Several swing constituencies loomed in many areas across the country. Masvingo Urban ceded the seat to Dr Shumba of Zanu Pf for the first time since 2000 due to vote splits. If votes which the Ncube led MDC got plus votes garnered by MDCT, the seat would have been won by opposition. All this means that nommatter how smaller a party is, every vote counts.

The explanation above forced all political parties to seat down and map the way forward on how the people would ensure an outright win from council up to national level. Zimbabweans from all political divides welcomed the idea with both hands but conspiracy amongst political leaders who are vying for offices ultimately stands on the way of a successful and broader alliance.

*PRC DEMANDS*
_________________

1. A neutral name where all political parties are accommodated without hurdles

2. All constituencies must be open to challenge by all Alliance partners and the party with better support in the constituency must be allowed to contest without considering history.

3. The symbol of the Alliance must be neutral to accommodate all partners

4. The President with popular appeal to electorate must be allowed to lead the coalition

5. Coalition symbols and colours must not resemble any symbol or colour of either party

6. Fair distribution of proportional representation of seats amongst partners accordingly.

7. Each partner must be allowed to chair or lead coalition business as maybe agreed by all partners to avoid a scenario where one party lead all provinces

Because of the above reasons Dr Mujuru refused to join or to be part of the MDC ALLIANCE for she feared that her party will be swallowed. Although the signs are showing that she is ready to to work with Hon Chamisa, the above demands by her party is making it difficult for her to sacrifice the party ideology at the Altar of Political Euphemism.

However, the Alliance partners agreed that the Mdc name withholding all other things constant is a popular name in the opposition circles. Given the time left to the elections, it seems impossible for MdcT and partners to do away with the name. Other demands like party symbol , colours, opening all constituencies to primary elections from a political standpoint seems genuine. From the negotiations, it seemed all sitting Mps and Councillors were not supposed to be removed but alas, the recent primaries saw the same sitting Mps facing all the resistance

If Welshman Ncube was able to deny MdcT outright victory in 2008 and 2013 which was largely regional in set up, more should be expected in 2018. PRC is not a force to ignore at all. It has structures across the country and to the analysts who were following the figures of their primary elections, emissaries must have been send to find a common ground with Mdc Alliance. This is not however taking away the strength of the major Alliance, Mdc but if these coalitions were formed to fight vote splitting, then a common ground should be found between contenders to map a way forward.

*DISASTER LOOMING IN MDC ALLIANCE*
_________________

Conflict is an inevitable element of a society and many sociologists agree that it is a normative. However, conflicts if not managed and resolved well may result in impasse and instability.

Several factors are likely to stand on the Coalition road before nomination day and if the Alliance Principals are not careful enough to manage the differences, then it will be Adios in two or less weeks.

*WHAT ARE THE OBSTACLES FACING THE MDC ALLIANCE?*
_________________

1. BACKBITING

Partners are not open to each other and there is backbiting. Other partners are incultating a spirit of resistance in their members as a leeway to defy the *COMPOSITE POLITICAL AGREEMENT* (CPA)

2. Breach of CPA

The partners are not at all respecting the composite political agreement which is a document signed by all political parties. Conduction of primary elections in constituencies allocated to other partners without communication to the other partners reveals that the damage has been done.

3. Bullying other partners

Big brother mentality is affecting the Mdc Alliance business. Instead of giving due respect to the other parties which agreed to partner Mdct in this struggle, MdcT being the biggest party and given the Presidency should have worked together with others. Other parties refused to be part of this arrangement and instead of hailing those doing the donkey work, the price is paid through bullying

4. PRINCIPALS FORUM

From the way the alliance bussiness is going on, it seems there is only a clique overseeing Alliance business and other partners are not consulted. This has led to conspiracy

5. INSTABILITY WITHIN ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES

Most grassroot members are no longer for this coalition arrangement because to them its unworkable. The Alliance partners leading provinces are not involving other partners in the planning of all provincial business. Some rallies are only notified at the 11th hour. Maybe this was done not to give other partners chance to mobilise their members to these rallies giving an image that other partners does not have supporters. Some leaders are disrespecting the party leaders because they claim they are not product of the Congress hence must not make binding decisions.

6. ABSENCE OF JOINT STEERING COMMITTEES

All successful alliances must have joint or co leaders at each provincial level. Alliance business can not be organized by a single partner except if there is abuse of the term “Alliance”

7. ABSENCE OF CODE OF CONDUCT

It seems the alliance does not have a code of conduct which binds party leaders. Some provincial leaders incite grassroots to protest against seats allocation or undressing other partners and nothing is done. At one of the rallies, one of the provincial leaders declared that a certain allocated seat will not be handed over to anyone except his party. Such level of disrespect shows the hand of an invisible force working tirelessly to destroy the alliance.

Due to time factor and space, i will leave these few factors and jump to another item.

*LIKELY EVENTS TO UNFOLD IN FEW WEEKS*
_________________

1. Some partners will walk out of the alliance

2. Secret talks between PRC and other partners in Mdc Alliance taking place and about 3 to 5 parties likely to join PRC led by Dr Mujuru if the differences are not addressed

3. Infighting as the bigger party is demanding all the wards across the country in breach of CPA *(COMPOSITE POLITICAL AGREEMENT)*

4. No clear communication on Proportional Represantation seats (Provincial Council, Senate, Women Quota) and this will lead to ultimate impasse

5. Emergency of several independent candidates due to frustration with internal party processes

6. Increase in Voter Apathy as majority of members had sacrificed their lives in hope of a grand alliance and in the absence of grand alliance, general members will see it as a waste of votes

7. Double candidates on the nomination day under the Mdc Alliance banner if the agreement is not respected or revisited.

8. Confusion amongst members as the circus is likely to happen towards nomination day.

9. History will judge the Alliance Partners for their arrogance and failure to put aside their differences for the benefit of citizenry after selling votes to the enemy.

KHUPE-NGA-KWARO: LINDA MASARIRA IN SPEECH CAR-ACCIDENT

By Own Correspondent| There was drama on Wednesday afternoon  when Thokozani Khupe’s spokesperson, Linda Masarira was involved in an embarrassing speech accident while claiming that her boss was assaulted by Nelson Chamisa aides on Tuesday.

The MDC T has historically been subjected to violence and it is now clear that the MDC led by Dr Thokozani Khupe continues to be subjected to violence. It is also important to note that yesterday the latest of attacks happened in full View of law enforcement agents, and the perpetrators have not been arrested, ” she said.

She said this was all because they have not yet identified who assaulted her boss. ” we have not informed the police because we are still to identify the people so that they can be traced who they are and where they live.”

There was drama when within the very same sentence, Masarira suddenly shifted beginning to state the very opposite. She said that to the very contrary they have “fully identified 3 or 2 who we have fully  identified to be Nelson Chamisa aides.

She committed another speech accident by changing and this time claiming that the physical abuse she alluded to earlier was only verbal insults(see video).

When asked about violence from the ruling party, ZANU PF, she replied saying there has been none at all this whole year. She said, “we have not seen any violence whatsoever from Zanu PF this whole year for the violence that has come against us has come from the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa,” she added.

Mugabe Snubs Parly Committee

Temba Mliswa chairing the parliamentary committee meeting snubbed by Mugabe

By Paul Nyathi|Former President Robert Mugabe failed to turn up for a parliamentary grilling on the missing $15 billion diamond revenue set for Wednesday.

Parliamentary Committee Chairperson Temba Mliswa has indicated that the committee has resolved to write to the 94 year old former Head of State to appear before the committee on the 29th of May.

Mugabe was meant to appear before the committee to explain his 2016 assertion that $15 billion was illegally siphoned from the diamond mining.

Initially the parliamentary committee sort to meet Mugabe at his private home in Borrowdale Harare an arrangement which Mugabe declined declaring his home to be a private property and not a parliament building.

MDC-T Calls For Respect On Khupe, “She Is Not The Problem,”

Charlton Hwende

By Paul Nyathi|The Nelson Chamisa led MDC-T has called on its supporters to refrain from the continuous attacks on dismissed former Deputy President Thokozani Khuphe.

The call by Party Deputy Treasurer General Chalton Hwende came up after some MDC-T supporters attending a supreme court hearing on Tuesday spent the day singing very derogatory remarks against the former MDC-T leader who now leads a splinter faction of the party.

Hwende called on the party supporters to instead direct their efforts towards fighting against the ZANU PF regime instead of engaging against fellow opposition leaders especially those who previously led the MDC-T.

Full statement by Hwende reads as follows:

The MDC-T party that I am a proud member of was built on the values of tolerance, especially political tolerance. Our slogan “Chinja Maitiro/Guqula Izenzo” is an enduring statement of the MDC-T’s absolute desire to break down Zanu PF’s politics of fear and hate that has set brother against brother and sister against sister.

We saw this intolerance during Gukurahundi. The brutal killing of Tichaona Chiminya and Talent Mabika continued this cycle. It should have stopped. But 400 of our supporters were killed in 2008 for the crime of being members of the MDC-T.

Preceding these events, almost always, were leaders using language that dehumanises the victims. Ndebeles, murdered in their thousands, were “cockroaches” as Emmerson Mnangagwa once said; and MDC-T supporters were “sellouts”.

At the Supreme Court this afternoon, a small group of MDC-T supporters acting on their own initiative came to show solidarity in an on-going legal dispute with our former colleague, Thokozani Khupe.

I have noted, with profound sadness, videos from outside court which show individuals dressed in MDC-T colours singing sickening songs denouncing Ms Khupe.

While it is true that the MDC-T draws its support from the same human pool as Zanu PF, most MDC-T supporters will find the intolerance exhibited outside court today contrary and alien to the party’s guiding beliefs. We must disagree, peacefully and on principle, because our party has greater ideas, not by debasing our opponents using the language of intolerance.

Thokozani Khupe has chosen to leave the MDC-T tent. We don’t understand or appreciate her reasons, but we must respect her democratic right to choose her associations. Khupe is not the problem, Zanu PF is. We must remain focused on the prize: Mobilising ourselves to fulfil a generational call to get rid of a Zanu PF government that has killed, destroyed and broken everything we value and that which makes us a people with dignity.

KHUPE LIVE: Gutu Holds Presser At 12

By Own Correspondent| Thokozani Khupe’s deputy Obert Gutu is holding a press conference at 12 noon, Wednesday.

It was not clear at the time of writing what he is going to say but indications were that he is going to address the issue of Mrs Khupe’s Supreme Court loss yesterday.

Mrs Khupe has so far lost her High Court case to her former boss, Nelson Chamisa, yesterday, as the sitting judge said the matter must go for trial. In the verdict she was cited as a mere individual. Her two aides, Gutu and Abednico Bhebhe were also cited as civilians in the full print of the verdict in the case in which they are being sued for using the name, Movement for Democratic Change, party logo and symbols.  – refresh this page to watch at 12 noon

Mugabe To Be Evicted From Business Premises

Alpha and Omega Harare Offices

By Paul Nyathi|Former President Robert Mugabe’s family business, Alpha Omega Dairy (Pvt) Ltd faces imminent eviction from business properties rented in Southerton Harare after failing to pay rentals.

Mugabe’s landlord Levgal Investments (Pvt) Ltd, has taken the former first family to court to recover an outstanding bill of over $29 000 in rentals.

According to summons issued last Friday, Levgal Investments, through its representative, Dawn Property Consultancy cited Mugabe’s firm Alpha Omega Dairy, two senior employees Stanley Nhari and Joseph Zirebwa as respondents.

“On October 11, 2012, the plaintiff (Levgal Investments), and the first defendant (Alpha Omega Dairy) entered into a lease agreement. The terms of the agreement of the lease were inter alia that; the first defendant would lease from the plaintiff, immovable property known as Stand No. 3246 Salisbury Township, 30 Simon Mazorodze Road, Southerton, Harare, Zimbabwe,” the firm said in its declaration.

“….In addition to the basic monthly rental, first defendant would pay a monthly sum towards operating costs of the property.”

According to the terms of the lease, monthly rentals were supposed to be paid in advance to Dawn Property Consultancy, free of exchange and bank charges and without deduction whatsoever on or before the first day of every month”.

But, Mugabe’s family business allegedly failed to meet its contractual obligation, prompting the consultancy firm to approach the court for recourse.

“In compliance with the agreement, plaintiff gave vacant possession of the property to the defendant, which property first defendant remains in occupation of.

“In breach of the agreement, however, first defendant failed, refused and/or neglected to pay monthly rentals and operating costs timeously and to that end is in arrears to the plaintiff of the sum of $29 134, 22,” the firm said.

Kasukuwere Trades Politics For Freedom

Spotted on arrival Saviour Kasukuwere

By Paul Nyathi|Former Zanu-PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere returned into the country on Tuesday and immediately announced his early retirement from politics.

Kasukuwere jetted back into the country after spending six months and six days in self-imposed exile in South Africa.

He fled the country last November alongside other G40 cabalists, Professor Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao, who remain in exile.

Kasukuwere, who was aboard a South African Airways plane, landed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport at midday and immediately declared that he was staying out of politics and focus on his business and farming.

“Tyson remains Tyson,” he said referring to himself by his nickname

“Am Relaxed. Going farming. You know we are beneficiaries of the land reform. There is business to be done, that is the future. We will continue to work,” he said.

“You see every soccer player must come to a time when he takes a decision that today I am not playing soccer. Maybe later, but for now just take it easy. Just run business. Go farming. Keep relaxed.”

Kasukuwere confirmed life was not easy away from home.

“You have to manage, can’t you? Why would you want me to stay outside the country? You want me to remain outside the country? Unoda kuenjoya wega muno munyika iwewe? This is my home, so I must come back home. No push factors. Nothing. Home sweet home.”

Contrary to beliefs that he was enticed to return to the country after emgaging with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Kasukuwere said he made a personal decision to return.

“This is a personal decision. I came to my country. This is my country. I came because I am Zimbabwean. I was born here. I will die here.”

Kasukuwere has been in President Mnangagwa’s wanted persons list since he fled the country and the nation waits to hear what will happen to him since he has returned.

FULL TEXT: Complaint to the BBC about Abuse Of Nelson Chamisa

Complaint to the BBC about Hard Talk Programme where MDC Alliance President Hon Nelson Chamisa was guest

Dear Sir/ Madam

We are members of the MDC -T, Oxford Branch, based in the United Kingdom. We wish to express our concern and register a formal complaint with the BBC over the manner in which our President Nelson Chamisa was recently treated by one of your journalists Mr Stephen Sucker during the Hard Talk Programme aired on the 10th of May 2018.
It is our sincere belief that journalists should be allowed to do their work without fear or favour but we also equally believe that in doing so they should be fair, transparent and free of bias.

We strongly believe that Mr Sucker departed from the realms of fair journalistic practice whilst he was interviewing Mr Chamisa and displayed a biased and condescending attitude which was meant to belittle our President. Our views are premised on the below:

1. Right from the onset it appeared Mr Sucker was bent on belittling Mr Chamisa by adopting an overbearing posture and insinuating that he was lacking in basic human decency and compassion by “seizing” the interim leadership of the MDC even before its late leader Morgan Tsvangirai had been buried. As far as we are concerned this issue had been dealt with within the party structures.

2. Mr Sucker was at pains to paint our President as immature, irresponsible and unwise to be a leader. He insisted that incumbent President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa was already displaying these attributes since he took power in November 2017 but that our President was not. He then cited proceeded to cite several promises which our President had made at his campaign rallies and referred to them as “fantasy” At one stage he referred to Mr Chamisa’s reference to his desire to see bullet trains in Zimbabwe as “ beyond nonsense”. We believe that the use of such an adjective is grossly disrespectful to any political leader irrespective of their origin and stature. We doubt that Mr Sucker would have said the same to a person like for instance US President Donald Trump.

3. We were also appalled to hear Mr Sucker describe some of our President’s policy statement as “silly”, an adjective which we again believe is reflective of a condescending and disrespectful disposition. Further to this Mr Sucker latched on to our President’s statement that the MDC would not accept the results of a rigged election to erroneously imply that Mr Chamisa would resort to unorthodox means to challenge the result which may include violence or some such. This was a misinterpretation of a demonstration which was called to call for electoral reforms in Zimbabwe and at no point has our President ever advocated for a violent takeover of the power. Mr Sucker’s stance portrays our President as undemocratic with a predilection or penchant for violence. This image potentially tarnishes the image of our president.

4. Mr Sucker seemed to rely on a lot of hearsay and opinion instead of hard, cogent facts to bolster his attacks on our President. We will cite his reference to a political analyst one Eldred Masunugure who was expressing his own views not facts on whether elections in Zimbabwe were going to be free and fair.

5. It is our strong opinion that Mr Sucker came to the interview with ill-conceived views which were biased in favour of the current regime in Zimbabwe and did not give our President a fair, balanced and respectful interview.

6. Instead of openly displaying his bias towards the current ZANU-PF regime in Zimbabwe on a global channel like the BBC we strongly urge Mr Stephen Sucker to let the people of Zimbabwe decide whom they want to vote for in the impending elections.

It is therefore our wish that the BBC should rectify this as a matter of urgency by apologising to the whole wide MDC membership and call for another fair and open interview with our President based on facts not hearsay, gossip and conjecture . This is so that the organisation’s image is not seen in an unfavourable view by the general membership of our party and all right thinking Zimbabweans who have suffered under the ZANU-PF regime with poor governance and service delivery and currently struggling with acute cash shortages, poor health delivery, corruption and other ills associated with poor governance.

Yours Sincerely

For and behalf of Oxford Branch
Tafadzwa Chigwende (MDC-T Oxford Branch Youth Chairman)

President Emmerson Mnangagwa today heads back to Manicaland Province today for another function.

The president will preside over the opening of a 16 000-seater multi-purpose sports centre to be built in Marange by St Noah School.

Mnangagwa will later address Zanu-PF supporters.

Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairperson Mike Madiro was yesterday  quoted saying Mnangagwa would be at St Noah School today. Madiro told the state media: “I can confirm that the President is visiting for a ground-breaking ceremony of some sports facility in Marange at St Noah School.

“It is a programme under comrade Kazembe Kazembe (Youths, Sports, Arts and Recreation Minister). They have targets in the ministry in terms of putting up sporting facilities for young people and this facility is one of those targets under sports development for the youths.”

Herald Says MDC Councillors Are Bribing Voters

The state run Herald paper has reported a claim that MDC-T councillors are allegedly bribing voters.

The paper alleges that councillors are in vote-buying and fleecing of desperate home-seekers after promising to allocate them residential stands when they assume office.

The paper quoted a Facebook post, in which one Precious Shumba claimed although without evidence that those with money won the MDC-T primary elections. Shumba was cited saying,”what we witnessed at several voting centres yesterday (Sunday) during the primary election revealed that indeed the powerful and those with money get the result that they want at the end of the day.

Some of the sitting councillors pocketed thousands of dollars from desperate people claiming that they will process allocation of residential stands, while the daring went around buying and distributing cooking oil, sugar, and buying membership cards for their perceived supporters.

But Harare Mayor Councillor Bernard Manyenyeni rubbished Shumba’s claims.

He said those with not all those with money won the primary elections.

Charamba Says Chamisa’s Demands To Observe Ballot Paper Printing Are Impossible To Execute

By Farai D Hove| President Emmerson Mnangagwa spokesman has rubbished demands by MDC leader Nelson Chamisa who says he must be given access to monitor ballot paper printing, saying they are impossible to execute.

Charamba while also blocking the monitoring of tenders for printing, said the demands to be involved in the printing of ballot papers for year’s harmonised elections are outrageous.

Nelson Chamisa has spoken on video that ZEC must allow opposition parties to observe or monitor the tendering and also the printing of ballot papers. He said “there are processes of ensuring that all participating parties are satisfied that there is nothing stuffed in ballot boxes before polling.”

Charamba yesterday quoted by the state media, said political parties advocating for such an arrangement should first downgrade the constitutional commissions to ordinary statutory bodies by way of amending the constitution.

Charamba said, the demands were devoid of merit as they were not backed by any law.

“They (opposition parties) must go back to the Zimbabwean people and say we have had enough of the independence of these constitutional bodies because we now want to participate in tenders,” said Mr Charamba.

“But to try and suggest that their involvement in tendering process is the test of freeness and fairness of elections is quite preposterous and this Government will err on the side of defending the constitutional inviolability of these commissions. Besides, there is no law that accommodates these demands by the opposition.

“What the law provides for is not the tendering process for ballot material, rather it is the transparent management of the material once it’s done and this takes many forms. Firstly, we have election agents who are expected to keep an eagle eye on the electoral process from start to finish insisting probity at every stage.

“Secondly, there are processes of ensuring that all participating parties are satisfied that there is nothing stuffed in ballot boxes before polling, during polling, after polling and before counting. The cure cannot be by overrunning constitutional bodies in their processes. The cure is by ensuring that agents are fully and competently deployed.

“Also on the distribution of ballot papers, that information will be made known to all players and to say so is not guessmate Zec, it is simply to highlight certain standards of transparency.”

He continued saying “I suppose some people have very short memories and because they have very short memories Government really wants to refresh their failing memories. Before GNU, we didn’t have constitutional commissions in our executive system. The constitutional commissions came about on the insistence of then opposition which was now a partner in Government under the GNU arrangement.

“It was a very strident demand from both MDCs which as you know had very pronounced component of lawyers and the demand was that we must curve and station constitutional commissions around major rights that needs to be protected in the constitution. As a result, we had the various commissions most notably Zec, Zimbabwe Media Commission Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, Human Rights Commission and a few more.”

Charamba added: “The idea behind creating those constitutional commissions was to involve Parliament in their constitution so that their creation went beyond the interests and dictates of the Executive which is why the Standing Rules and Orders Committee of Parliament became a part appointing authority in respect of all commissions. The only difference was the degree of participation of the SROC in respect of each of these commissions. So, there was a deliberate attempt to insulate these commissions at the stage of constituting them by involving Parliament.

“Secondly, the other level of insulating these commissions against incumbents was to upgrade them from being statutory bodies to being constitutional bodies which meant if the Government of the day undermines their independence then that would amount to a breach of the constitution, in which case it will be actionable through due parliamentary process.

“A third way of ensuring and underpinning their independence was to require that they report to Parliament and not line ministries which really fortified their independence. The last way of fortifying their independence was to house them under the Ministry of Justice way from line ministries for budgetary requirements.

“This was really an administrative decision. Now, if the intention was to underwrite the autonomy of constitutional bodies and this on the insistence of the then opposition which was now part of the GNU, where are these voices which are now demanding a reversal and compromise of that independent status coming from?

“If the intention is to re-think the subject, then you don’t run ahead of the law by changing practices, you actually change the constitution and downgrade these commissions to become ordinary statutory bodies. That has not happened. But also it is very unfair for the opposition to expect this society to wax and whine on the basis of whim.”

SOUTH AFRICA: Zimbabwean Family Comes Face To Face With Gun Loaded Robbers

state media – A Zimbabwean family endured a tense 45 minutes of movie style hostage drama at a Shoprite outlet in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Four masked robbers clad in army fatigues, who wielded “huge rifles,” got away with an undisclosed amount of money following a standoff with police on Sunday.
They ordered more than 80 customers, over 15 till operators and other shop employees to lie down at Southdale Mall at around 11AM.

Terrified shoppers said the gunmen said anyone who moved would be shot dead. Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) Gauteng Provincial spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Malumu yesterday confirmed the robbery and hostage incident. She said the suspects were still at large and investigations were underway.

“I can confirm we are investigating a case of cash in transit heist which occurred at Southdale Mall within our province. Together with the Crime Intelligence Unit, we are working on the matter and following up on any available detail regarding to the matter that will lead to the arrest of the suspects. So far, no arrests have been made,” said Captain Malumu.

A Zimbabwean couple who were with their two minor daughters said they believed the robbers would kill everyone.
The couple, who asked not to be named citing fear of reprisals, said the armed men pounced about 10 minutes after the family arrived at the store.

“Four men in bottle green uniforms walked into the shop carrying huge firearms and in English, they ordered everyone to lie down with faces on the floor. They ordered the security guards to close the doors and lock them,” said the woman.

“We were scared because they sounded mean and dangerous. They said if anyone moved even an inch or tried to call the police, they would spray everyone with bullets.”

She said everyone complied without hesitation while others seemed to suffer panic attacks.
“My children were fidgeting and I could not talk to them. I just shut my eyes tight and expected to feel bullets puncturing my body anytime,” said the woman.

The woman, who said she was still in shock, added that the four men went to the tills and she could hear them issuing harsh orders and emptying the tills.
“They grabbed a few till operators and demanded to be shown the manager. They demanded to be shown the room where cash was kept. All four of them went into the room but no one dared to move,” she said.

Her husband said he suspects that shoppers in the mall, on seeing people lying on the floor in the shop, alerted neighbouring stores who all quickly closed their premises and called the police.

“My children began crying uncontrollably and other children joined in. I almost wet my pants fearing the men would just come out of that room and blow their heads off,” the woman added.
Her husband said the robbers got communication from their accomplices outside, who told them that police had ambushed them.

“Armed police officers came into the store and began talking to the gunmen, who were still inside the cash room, using a cellphone. The robbers refused to come out of the room,” said the woman’s husband.

“Exactly like in a movie, we left the shop in batches while police continued negotiating.”
He said he later heard the robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money, although he could not understand how it happened as they seemed cornered.
Robbers have in many incidents targeted Shoprite outlets in South Africa.

In March 2015, two separate robberies occurred at Clearwater Mall and a Shoprite store in Naledi, Soweto.

Two suspects were arrested and four more were on the run after they robbed Shoprite. Two men were killed, two were wounded and two others were arrested following a shootout between police and suspects at Clearwater Mall.

The robbers allegedly got away with R7, 000 at Shoprite in Naledi. In May 2017, a Shoprite liquor store was robbed in Strandfontein Road, Pelican Park. The store is located next to the supermarket.

Police said four armed robbers stormed the shop and demanded money before hitting a female security guard in the head with a gun. A week earlier, on May 1, three armed robbers carried out a robbery at Shoprite at Nyanga Junction mall, leading to a 12-hour hostage drama.
The robbers had targeted a social grant paypoint.

During a shootout between robbers and security, armed response officer Patrick Castle (28) of TSU Group was wounded and later died in hospital while one of the robbers was injured.

Another robber was killed by cops when negotiations ended while a third suspect escaped.

Ten hostages, which included cleaners and management at Shoprite, were rescued unharmed.

In June 2017, a gang armed with AK47 rifles entered Shoprite in the Mfuleni shopping centre and demanded cash. They got away with an undisclosed amount and no arrests were made.

In February 2017, two suspects robbed Shoprite Supermarket in Mayfair and escaped with R250 000 and a DVR recorder.- state media

Gang Fight Backfires, Man Killed

A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Lupane was fatally stabbed with a knife in a gang fight on Saturday.

Polite Maduna of BH 71 Gegema Village under Chief Menyezwa, sources said, had a misunderstanding with Licious Ndlovu who had insulted him during the day.

Maduna had spent the day doing collective labour (ilima) with other villagers to make bricks at a neighbour’s homestead before he was killed around 8PM.

His elder sister Ms Catelia Maduna narrated the events leading to her brother’s death.
“They had a misunderstanding with a villager called Licious Ndlovu as they were making bricks during the day. The two started arguing when Licious insulted him,” said Ms Maduna.

She said her brother and Ndlovu later made peace but Ndlovu’s gang was not happy about it. “Licious’ younger brother Obriel, Davison Mlambo and others later came and asked why he did not beat up Polite,” she said.
Licious allegedly tried to calm his brother and gang to no avail as they accused him of being a coward.

The attackers allegedly later ambushed Maduna at Gazaland Shopping Area. Mlambo allegedly drew a knife which he gave to Obriel who then stabbed Maduna in the right arm and armpit.

The Chronicle was told that Maduna’s young brother Major and some friends fled from the scene and hid in a bus which was parked at the shops.

The attackers fled when the bus driver flashed lights at them. Maduna died on the spot and Major rushed to inform his mother who was attending a church service at the nearby Dandanda Roman Catholic Mission.

Maduna’s body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post-mortem yesterday.
Police sources said Licious, Mlambo and a third suspect had been arrested while Obriel was on the run.

Police spokesperson for Matabeleland North province Inspector Siphiwe Makonese could not confirm the murder yesterday.- state media

Abiy Ahmed

By Simba Chikanza| Ethiopea’s G40 President, recently elected, has moved to forgive that country’s former brutal President who is currently hiding in Zimbabwe( after being given political asylum by former president Robert Mugabe), Mengistu Mariam.

President Abiy Ahmed, 42, was Tuesday night praised by Ethiopans in the United Kingdom. One Abyssinian told ZimEye.com, ” he is a good man he has brought hope to all of us.”

President Ahmed made the following grand announcement last week, “It is historically accurate that Ethiopia has had its fair share of leaders who, upon coming to power, destroy what their predecessors have built, and eliminate close members of former regimes.

Pardoning Mengistu Haile Mariam breaks this, and shows it is also in us to forgive.”

ED Released Kasukuwere from Chikurubi-Exile On Good Behaviour, Claims Caller

By Own Correspondent| Zanu PF leader and current national president Emmerson Mnangagwa was last night said to have released his arch enemy Saviour Kasukuwere on good behaviour grounds.

A caller joining into the live blast discussion Tuesday night claimed that the president has pardoned Kasukuwere hence the man’s decision to fly back into the country 6 months after fleeing the guns of soldiers during the coup in November 2017. WATCH THE PROGRAM BELOW:

The whole development came after the Zimbabwe Republic Police said it is going to grill former minister for border jumping.

Recently, his colleague Professor Jonathan Moyo was filmed on video telling reporters that he together with Kasukuwere fled Zimbabwe with the assistance of unnamed CIO operatives in working for Grace Mugabe.

That report was also corroborated by former president Robert Mugabe who told foreign reporters the two were rescued in a counter military operation under the command of his wife shortly before they fled the country.

Kasukuwere returned to Zimbabwe Tuesday after spending 6 months in exile.

Kasukuwere spoke soon after arriving at the Harare International Airport in Harare and said has quit politics and will now concentrate on farming.

He also told Star FM News his decision to come back home was personal.

The state owned radio station stated that police will question Kasukuwere.

The national police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said police will  interview Kasukuwere.

She told the station the interview will be set to establish how he escaped during Operation Restore Legacy..

UK Club Wants To Buy Zimbabwean Striker

A United Kingdom club has expressed interest in buying a Zimbabwean striker.

The Scottish club, Dundee is cited as interested in Zimbabwe International and Leyton Orient striker Macauley Bonne.

The Scottish Sun says Dundee coach Neil McCann wants Bonne to join part his squad next season.

Bonne scored 25 goals for National League side Leyton Orient in the last campaign and has also been linked with Shrewsbury, Portsmouth and Burton Albion.

Bonne has 12 months left on his contract and Orient are reported to be preparing to offer him a new deal. Dundee plays in the Championship, the second tier of the Scottish football.

Police Want To Arrest Kasukuwere For Border Jumping

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has said it is going to grill former minister Of Local Government before the November coup, Saviour Kasukuwere.

In what (today) appeared like revenge, the police could any time soon arrest the man (whose brother once mocked president Emmerson Mnangagwa for skipping the border into Mozambique) for border jumping on the 7th November.

Patrick Zhuwao Apologises To Mawarire And Other NPF Comrades

ALERT: BEWARE OF CHINESE PHONES IN POCKETS

NPF ROW: Full Text Of Zhuwao’s apology to Mawarire and other NPF Comrades

22nd May 2018

By Patrick Zhuwao
I WISH to apologise to Cde Jealousy Mawarire and other NPF comrades who have been hurt and injured by a private conversation about the need for t-shirts for NPF which was inadvertently broadcast via live twitter video on Monday 21st May 2018.

The conversation was meant to be a private interaction which should never have been exposed to the public domain.

I take responsibility for what transpired as a result of that conversation because I am the person that initiated the conversation.
In order to demonstrate the sincerity of my apology,

I will describe how the issue of t-shirts came to be discussed. I will also explain the circumstances that led to the inadvertent broadcast of the conversation as well as submitting the reasons that make me believe, in my heart of hearts, that the broadcast was indeed a genuine mistake.

I will conclude by appealing for forgiveness, understanding and patience from everyone, but most importantly, from those who have been directly affected, hurt and injured by this unfortunate incident.

On Sunday 20th May 2018, a fellow comrade on one of the NPF WhatsApp chat groups made an observation about the need for campaign material which included brochures and t-shirts.

Cde Mawarire then responded by saying that nothing could

be done because there were no resources. I immediately engaged Cde Mawarire privately on whether that was an official NPF position and on his apparent break from a view that he had previously articulated that NPF issues should not be discussed on social media. Cde Mawarire responded by asking “Is there anything wrong with telling supporters we don’t have money”

That response astounded me because I felt that it downplayed the tremendous contributions that have been made by several donors towards NPF over the past six months.

I found the response especially unfortunate given the fact that I knew of two donors who had availed resources for 20,000 t-shirts that were expected to have been delivered a week and a half prior to then.

I imagined that these donors would be disappointed if they were to come across Cde Mawarire’s response to the observation about the need for t-shirts.

I was however worried about being misunderstood by Cde Mawarire should I approach the issue directly with him given the nature of his previous interactions and engagements with myself and other comrades. I then sought the views, advice and guidance of three other colleagues, one of whom was Professor Jonathan Moyo.

During my conversation with Professor Moyo, it transpired that his phone, which was in his shirt pocket, pocket dialled onto the twitter live video mode and inadvertently broadcast our discussion.

I take responsibility for initiating the conversation. I am sorry for everything that has transpired as a result. I am aware of the circumstance that gave rise to that live broadcast and I wish to assure everyone that the live broadcast was a genuine accident.

The live broadcast has resulted in people being able to identify the location and route that we took as we were having that discussion. Effectively, the live broadcast has put our safety and security into jeopardy. I definitely know that neither Professor Moyo nor myself would wish to do that.

It is unfortunate that some people who would really like to see the NPF project crumble have sought to accentuate this discussion into a crisis by imagining that working relationships have crumbled beyond repair.

This is despite the numerous incidences where both Professor Moyo and I have vigorously supported the inclusion of Cde Mawarire into the NPF’s Founding National Executive Committee. I have even written the ZBR10 article entitled “Who is Jealousy Mawarire” in order to dissuade those that had a negative inclination to him.

I wish to conclude by requesting the forgiveness of the entire NPF family, and in particular those that have been directly affected, hurt and injured by this unfortunate incident.

To Comrade Mawarire, I once again sincerely tender my apologies with the hope and prayers that he will appreciate and understand that throughout our conversation, we focussed on the need to account for the t-shirts and did not label him as a thief.

I hope that he will take the conversation I was having with Professor Moyo in exactly the same way that he takes the conversation between himself, Professor Moyo and I when he made the statement “If you cannot account for a dollar, how can you account for a million dollars”.

Iwe neni tine basa.

Umsebenzi loUmkhulu.

Asante

Mapeza Remains Modest Despite Dembare Win

Terrence Mawawa

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has remained modest despite the convincing victory over ailing Harare Giants Dynamos.

Pure Platinum Play displayed top-class football, dominating possession from the onset until the last minute as they coasted to the impressive 2-0 win at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Rodwell Chinyengetere stole the show as he scored both goals in the opening quarter hour of the game.

“After what happened on Saturday -with Ngezi winning, we had to play the game under pressure,” Mapeza said.

“Those two early goals settled our nerves, and it became much easier to play.”

FC Platinum are now on 29 points, three behind Ngezi who are yet to lose a match in this campaign.

War Breaks Out Between Jonathan Moyo And Own Party | IS THIS THE END OF G40?

In what some have claimed could be the end of the G40 movement, LIVE swords have been struck between key strategist Prof Jonathan Moyo and the NPF party spokesman Jealousy Mawarire.

The whole debacle began when Mawarire was labelled a thief in a leaked video conversation.

The conversation was between Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao and Zhuwao on ZimEye.com apologised to Mawarire directly(click to read).
Jealousy Mawarire has since reacted angrily on Twitter and flung insults at Jonathan Moyo calling him names.

Wrote Mawarire:

@ProfJNMoyo has just finished himself.

The most ironic thing is that an unrepented petty thief, who even stole money meant for his daughter’s funeral (chema), thinks everyone is a thief like him.

Why would I account t-shirts won in Zimbabwe to a fugitive?

Anofunga Kuti zvaaiba mari yevana yeZimdef everyone else anoba zvinhu zvevana kunyange masikipa. Ndozvinoita a brain wired to steal, it’s sees opportunities to steal even with pole not predisposed to stealing like him.

You should rot in hell bloody liar and petty thief.

In your naivety and perchance for fighting everyone, you fought the location of your hideout in Kenya. You don’t need a signal, you need a good spanking on that egghead of yours.

‘Dismiss All Incompetent Ministers’

Terrence Mawawa

Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation radio and television presenter, Ezra Tshisa Sibanda, has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to dismiss all incompetent government officials.

Commenting on
the Minister of State for Mashonaland West
Province, Webster Shamu’ s dismissal yesterday Sibanda said Mnangagwa should dismiss all ineffective government bureaucrats.

Mnangagwa
exercised his executive powers in terms of section 108 (1)
(a) as read with section 340 (1) of the
Constitution, according to Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda.

“Can you fire all the lazy bureaucrats as well, Mr President,” Sibanda said.

‘Zanu PF Manifesto Is Purely Fictitious’

Terrence Mawawa

MDC deputy treasurer general, Charlton Hwende has the described the Zanu PF Election Manifesto as a smorgasbord of half truths and wishful thinking.

Hwende said yesterday:

NATIONAL, BUSINESS, BREAKING

LIVEBLAST- watch below

By Own Correspondent| Mystery surrounds the death of a form 5 male pupil at Murehwa Mission High School.

The minor suddenly dropped dead while playing basketball on Saturday afternoon. Reports sent to ZimEye claim that teachers for a long time watched the teenager on different occasions when he would fall down, collapsing before waking up again. However upon his last fall late Saturday, his last breath failed him, and he sadly passed on, in the presence of members of staff.

“This child should have recevied attention and these teachers did not do their job right by forcing him into the game, knowing fully he had a medical condition” a source told ZimEye.

The headmaster however speaks to ZimEye.com saying the falling down only happened on Saturday, and the pupil was given first aid after falling down for the first time. He says the student rose up and ” it was upon the second falling down that he passed on.”

He also denies that the police and medical services were informed late.

All this also happened in front of other pupils.

Mnangagwa Accused Of Creating Chaos In Chirumanzu

Terrence Mawawa

War veterans in Chirumanzu- Zibagwe Constituency have accused The First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa of overriding the decisions of the ruling party’ s district executive in the area.

Disgruntled war veterans told a Masvingo based weekly publication they had written a petition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa registering their displeasure with the First Lady’ s meddling in political affairs in the constituency.

The war veterans accused Mrs Mnangagwa of imposing candidates of her choice- subverting the will of the ordinary party members in the process.

“We have written a petition to the President because of very sad political events that are happening here. Mrs Mnangagwa’ s meddling in political programmes is worrisome. She does not have the mandate to override the decisions of the district executive,” sources in the area told the weekly paper.

Sources in Mvuma claimed there was commotion in the area last weekend as war veterans protested at Mrs Mnangagwa’ s political schemes.

APOLOGY TO MAWARIRE: Zhuwao Brief Reloaded Article 17 (ZBR17)

The Zhuwao Brief Reloaded Article 17 (ZBR17)
Apology to Mawarire & Other NPF Comrades by Hon. Patrick Zhuwao on 22nd May 2018

In order to demonstrate the sincerity of my apology, I will describe how the issue of t-shirts came to be discussed.

Cde Mawarire then responded by saying that nothing cuould be done because there were no resources.

I wish to conclude by requesting the forgiveness of the entire NPF family, and in particular those that that have been directly affected, hurt and injured by this unfortunate incident.

Scores of rowdy MDC-T Chamisa faction supporters were at the Supreme Court building where there were chanting derogatory slogans against Khupe and singing vulgar songs while expressing their undying loyalty for Chamisa.-state media

Zimbabwean Travellers Repeatedly Hijacked And Robbed In South Africa

A Bulawayo man was shot on the ear after he withheld R10 from highway robbers who hijacked buses, omalayitsha and two private motorists between Musina and Kranskop along Musina- Johannesburg Highway over the weekend.

The robbers in groups of four and five were allegedly staggered along the highway on Saturday night to the wee hours of Sunday.

Victims who spoke to state run Chronicle newspaper on condition of anonymity said the robbers shot the tyres of the vehicles and buses and pounced on the vehicles after they stopped.

They said in some of the incidents, the robbers boarded vehicles as passengers and suddenly produced guns, forcing drivers to stop.

A source said Intercity Bus Company that also trades as Eagle Liner, Tombs Motorways, Shumba Logistics Bus Company, two Quantum vehicles and two private vehicles were stopped and robbed while about three other vehicles fled as the highway robbers fired shots.

Intercity Bus Company confirmed the hijacking while a Tombs Motorways representative denied that passengers in their bus were victims.

A passenger in the Intercity bus bound for Johannesburg from Bulawayo relived the horror yesterday.

“The robbers were stationed in some bushes by the road side. They shot the tyres on our bus around 3:40 AM on Sunday,” said the passenger, who still appeared to be in shock.

The passenger said the two drivers disembarked to check the tyres.

“Four men armed with guns appeared from the darkness and pounced on them. They force marched them back into the bus. They fired a shot that jarred sleeping passengers awake,” said the passenger, who insisted on anonymity.

The passenger said the gunmen ordered passengers not to look at them.

“They took someone’s bag and ordered us to throw our cash inside. It was very scary as they moved down the row of seats and we meekly deposited our cash into the bag. I lost R200. Other passengers lost huge sums of money because they were going to the neighbouring country for shopping,” said the passenger.

The passenger said as the robbers were about to disembark, one of them said they should collect cellphones as well.

“They returned and started searching passengers. In fear, most surrendered their phones and tablets,” the passenger said.

“It was then that they found a passenger who had R10 in his pockets. The gunmen were furious. They shouted at him and asked why he had withheld the money when they were going around with the bag. One of them fired a shot that grazed his ear. Some passengers screamed and people became more cooperative,” narrated the passenger.

“The gunmen jumped off into a waiting vehicle that sped off.”

A driver at one of the bus companies said the robbers laid siege on the highway and prowled around for close to 10 hours, robbing motorists.

“I heard that a Shumba Bus Service bus that was hired by Intercity was hit by passengers who suddenly produced guns. They boarded the bus in Zimbabwe and we think they got guns from accomplices in Musina. After the heist, their colleagues picked them up. The same thing happened with a Tombs Motorways bus, two omalayitsha and some smaller passenger vehicles,” said the driver who declined to be named.

A source at Intercity Bus Company yesterday said six passengers had arrived home.

“All passengers who were in the Intercity bus were offered complimentary tickets to return home after their losses.”

The manager of Eagle Liner Luxury Services, Mr Brian Munemo confirmed that one of their buses was attacked on Saturday night.

“The hijacking happened a day before yesterday (Saturday), but I cannot give any more information,” he said.

The manager of Tombs Motorways Bus Company, Mr John Chitana said none of their buses coming from SA was hijacked.

South African police requested questions in writing but had not responded by the time of going to print.

Bus hijackings in the neighbouring country have increased over the past few years.

In June 2016, a bus travelling to Johannesburg was attacked by three gunmen who stripped the passengers of money and cell phones between Polokwane and Mokopane towns. The Intercape bus was travelling from Harare headed for Johannesburg in Gauteng province.

In July the same year, a passenger on a Mzansi Express bus from Zimbabwe to South Africa allegedly wrestled a gun from a robber and shot him dead, when four armed men raided the vehicle in Musina.

One of the hijackers allegedly shot the passenger on the shoulder as they fled from the scene, at around 3AM.

In April 2015, 48 Zimbabweans endured a four-hour hijack horror aboard an Intercape bus in SA. Four pistol and rifle-wielding men got away with cash, cell phones and gadgets worth tens of thousands of dollars when they commandeered the Bulawayo/Johannesburg bus near Hammanskraal at around 3.30AM.

In May the same year, two more Zimbabwean buses were attacked by armed highway robbers in South Africa. The buses, Eagle Liner and Citiliner, which were headed for Johannesburg, were attacked within two days.

Zimbabwe formally applies to re-join Commonwealth after 15-year absence

President Emmerson Mnangagwa

ZIMBABWE has applied to re-join the Commonwealth after a 15-year absence from the grouping having pulled out in 2003 after former president Robert Mugabe protesting an indefinite suspension.

The development was confirmed by the Commonwealth officials on Monday.

In a statement, Commonwealth secretary-general Patricia Scotland said she had received President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s letter dated 15th May to re-join the grouping which it had been a member for 23 years, before pulling out.

“I whole-heartedly echo the sentiments of Heads of Government who have said twice, in 2009 and subsequently in 2011, that they very much look forward to Zimbabwe’s return when the conditions are right,” she said.

“Zimbabwe’s eventual return to the Commonwealth, following a successful membership application, would be a momentous occasion, given our shared rich history.”

Harare has also started the process of re-joining the group by inviting the Commonwealth to observe general elections due midyear.

The former Mugabe regime had barred the Commonwealth from local elections in retaliation for the indefinite suspension

“I urge the government, opposition parties, the election management body, civil society, and all stakeholders, to play their part in ensuring a credible, peaceful and inclusive process that restores citizens’ confidence, trust and hope in the development and democratic trajectory of their country,” added secretary-general Scotland.

To re-join, Zimbabwe must demonstrate that it complies with the fundamental values set out in the Commonwealth Charter, including democracy and rule of law plus protection of human rights such as freedom of expression.

The membership process requires an informal assessment to be undertaken by representatives of the Secretary-General, followed by consultations with other Commonwealth countries.

Zimbabwe was first suspended in 2002 following disputed presidential elections which were marred by high levels of politically-motivated violence and alleged vote rigging.

Then president Mugabe pulled out of the grouping when leaders at the Abuja Commonwealth summit agreed to suspend Harare until it complied with demands to restore democracy and the rule of law.

Government Overwhelmed By Mbanje Farming Applications, Licencing Withheld

Minister Terence Mukupe

By Paul Nyathi|The government has suspended the licencing of mbanje farming after it received an overwhelming response to calls for licencing of prospective farmers.

Deputy Finance Minister Terence Mukupe revealed on Monday that the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe, the regulating body, received over three hundred applicants for the licencing when its target is less than ten farmers.

Due to the overwhelming response government had decided to temporarily suspend the licencing to give time to streamlining of the licencing process.

“The response was unexpectedly too high which has invoked government to back track in the process and sit down to come up with regulations on how the licences will be awarded and the farming regulated,” said Mukupe.

“The applications were very varied with some applying to farm ten thousand hectares while others were asking for just two hectares which then calls for stringent regulations on the licencing and regulating of the farming,” he said.

Government recently legalised the farming of the drug for purposes of the production of medicines and not direct consumption.

Statutes were immediately released and set the licencing fees at $50 000 which government thought was going to be deterrent.

The Ministry Of Finance expects to rake in billions of foreign currency in the exports of the drug once the farming begins.

Commenting on the matter, former opposition MDC-T Member of Parliament Thandeko Zinti Mkandla condemned government for rushing the process without sitting to complete all the regulations around the legalisation of the farming.

“Government should have taken its time to first consider all the regulations around the farming before calling for applications,” he said.

Mkandla however went further to castigate the government for failing to run the country to the extent of finding desperate measures to raise foreign currency to run the country.

“The country has a lot of minerals that can be mined in order to raise foreign currency than stoop so low as to put the country’s hopes on mbanje farming,” he said.

Govt Engages Interpol To Arrest Jonathan Moyo

“Robin Hood” Jonathan Moyo

By Paul Nyathi|Zimbabwean police have engaged International Police network to help track down and arrest self exiled former Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo.

Moyo’s international warrant of arrest was confirmed at the High Court sitting on Monday at the appearance of his co-accused Fredick Mandizvidza.

Prosecutor Clemence Chimbari told the court that Mandizvidza had been removed from being an accused to being a witness against Moyo in the case.

Mandizvidza who is the Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund, ZIMDEF, was found not guilty by the courts and turned witness in the case where Professor Moyo is being accused of looting up to $40 000 of the ZIMDEF funds.

Mandizvidza’s lawyer Wilson Manase submitted to the court that his client was only acting under instructions from his boss, Professor Moyo, when he authorised the funding of motor bikes for traditional leaders in Tsholotsho where Moyo was the Member of Parliament.

In his defence before fleeing the country, Moyo equated himself to a Robin Hood who took funds from the rich to give to the poor.

Moyo is believed to be exiling himself in South Africa.

Violent Clashes Cause Abandonment Of MDC-T Primary Elections

By Paul Nyathi|Heavy intra party fighting caused the abandonment of MDC-T local government primary elections in Ward 28 of Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park high density suburb on Sunday.

Reports made available to ZimEye.com indicate that incumbent councillor for the ward Collet Ndlovu and some members of his family were on Monday picked up and detained by police details from the Law and Order section at Bulawayo Central Police station on public violence charges following the skirmishes.

Ndlovu and his sons are accused of damaging a vehicle belonging to rival candidate Happison Ncube and injuring several other people suspected to be rival supporters.

Ncube told journalists in a press interview on Monday that his vehicle was badly damaged by Ndlovu and his supporters in the course of the primary election voting when they realised that the incumbent councillor was on the verge of losing the election.

“They attacked my car with stones and bottles and a host of other missiles forcing the presiding officers to call off the elections for security reasons,” said Ncube.

Ncube condemned the violence refusing to comment further on the incident indicating that the party does not allow candidates to comment in the media on the ejections referring journalists to the party spokesperson Thabitha Khumalo who could not immediately be contacted.

65 year old Eunice Mpofu a member of the party who witnessed the incident told ZimEye.com that she has never experienced the kind of violence she saw on Sunday and called on party officials to bring order into the party.

“They wanted to set the vehicle on fire shouting that Happy Ncube must be killed and burnt inside the car,” she said.

“The driver acted very quickly and drove away before a group of young people with petrol bombs could set the vehicle on fire and killed five innocent people,” she said.

Talking to journalists on the incident the Bulawayo provincial Chairperson of the party Gift Banda said that the provincial executive is also not allowed to comment on matters to do with the primary elections referring the journalists to party chairman Morgan Komichi who could not immediately be contacted by ZimEye.com on the violence skirmishes.

Chamisa MDC Squares Up With ZANU PF On Forcing Povo For ZEC Reg Slips, Says Herald

The MDC party led by Nelson Chamisa squares up with Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF, the state media has laid claim.

The state broadsheet, The Herald presented that the MDC has demanded for BVR slips, ZANU PF style.

The party chairman, Mr Morgen Komichi however defended the requirement saying it was meant to ensure that only registered voters participate in the primaries. MDC-T has raised concern against people being asked to produce voter registration slips saying it was a way of intimidating voters. Komichi said they are not recording serial numbers. Komichi said, ”

“This is meant to ensure that only people who are going to vote in the harmonised elections participate in the primaries. You cannot open it to everyone and include people that are not registered because it will distort the whole process. This is different from what happened in the past because no serial numbers are being recorded.”

FULL TEXT: Mukupe Exposes President Mnangagwa, Humiliates Army, Says Soldiers Are Running The State

LIVEBLAST – watch below

By Own Correspondent|  The man whose job is the building of investor confidence and the lowering of business risk, embarrassed President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday.

In what is set to clearly scare investors away from Zimbabwe, it has been declared that the army will not allow MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to enter state house, as Deputy Finance Minister Terrence Mukupe has declared.

The Finance Minister (dep)’s comments come at a time when the Zimbabwean government is seeking international recognition as a civilian state, not a military one. It also comes as the President sought to assert that the November military coup was a civilian transition and nothing to do with the military.

Mukupe said soldiers did not remove Robert Mugabe so to pass on the Presidency to a young inexperienced Nelson Chamisa.

He made these comments while addressing a cell group in Mandara, Harare.

He began by saying, “let us be truthful, our nation where it is and where it is going , it needs an elderly person with a steady hand, who will stabilise things.  For me to say the army took over the country from vaMugabe so that they can hand over to a young man who is talking about spaghetti roads, and talking about impregnating all women. Isn’t you heard him saying these things?

“After saying these things, you say Mnangagwa if he wins I will give him my sister, it is almost being scornful of all women. Imagine me telling you that I want to impregnate all you women, would you vote for me?

“This is what I am saying, even I myself I want to rule, do you hear?  No one refuses to sit in a Mercedes Benz and get all the sirens, but these things have their own time. I don’t think I have the maturity level to get the whole country and the soldiers now saluting me(di; but I heard him saying at one time saying he is already rehearsing performing Presidential guard inspections like this…”

LATEST- Mugabe Being Grilled Over Missing Diamonds Tomorrow

On Wednesday the 23rd of May 2018, parliament is to receive oral evidence from His Excellency the former President of the Republic of Zimbabwe R. G. Mugabe.

The decision to summon the former Head of State and Government follows a claim he made in February 2016 that the country could have been prejudiced of over $15 billion in unrealised diamond revenue from Chiadzwa.

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy chaired by Norton MP Mr Temba Mliswa (Independent) set tomorrow to hear evidence from Mr Mugabe who resigned in November pending impeachment proceedings against him.

Mr Mliswa confirmed the development yesterday.

“A letter was written and delivered to him last week. We now expect him to come. While his office has not yet confirmed, that is not a legal requirement but is usually done out of courtesy.

“The most important thing is that we have discharged our obligation, we have summoned him,” said Mr Mliswa.

He said the inquiry was not a witch-hunt, but was aimed at getting the truth on the utilisation of national resources.

“The committee was of the view that we might even hold the meeting at his residence considering his age. It was just an alternative view that we were suggesting,” he said.

A source at Parliament however, shot down the proposal to hold the meeting at Mr Mugabe’s Blue Roof residence in Harare.

“The letter inviting him was delivered on Thursday last week. That suggestion to hold the meeting at his residence is not supported by any law or Standing Order. That would be unprecedented and not permissible. It would set a bad precedent hence we will not allow that,” said a Parliament staffer.

“The fact that Mr Mugabe has not confirmed his attendance is not of any consequence to us. It is not a legal requirement but done out of courtesy. He might even pitch up without confirming and that has happened several witnesses in respect of other committees. We will however, further make inquiries tomorrow (Thursday,) but we can confirm that we delivered the invitation last Thursday,” said the source.

Parliament has since indicated on its committee schedule the pending appearance of Mr Mugabe.

“Subject to confirmation, oral evidence from His Excellency, the former president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, comrade R. G. Mugabe, on diamond mining revenues,” read the notice posted yesterday.

The committee has since held meetings with several other stakeholders regarding diamond extraction at Chiadzwa before Government consolidated the mining firms into one firm.

Some of the entities that have since given evidence include the former Minister of Mines, Walter Chidhakwa, former permanent secretaries of the ministry, Professor Francis Gudyanga and Prince Mupazhiriho, former Home Affairs Minister Dr Ignatious Chombo.

Other entities include Zimbabwe Republic Police, Central Intelligence Organisation, Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation, Minerals Marketing and Corporation of Zimbabwe, among others. – state media

Mnangagwa Starts Own Youth Interface Rallies

President Mnangagwa has launched his own youth interface rally.

Mnangagwa is next week addressing over 100 000 youths from across the country at a Youth Issues Convention to be held in Midlands province.

The convention is a brainchild of the Zanu-PF Youth League whose aim is to see President Mnangagwa addressing issues affecting the country’s youths.

Zanu-PF Youth League deputy secretary for administration Mabutho Moyo yesterday said the meeting with the President would take place on Thursday next week.

“We want to give the youth of Zimbabwe a platform to interact with the President. It’s not limited to youths in the party’s structures because we know that it’s not everyone who is outside our structures who is not supporting us,” he said.

“Youth associations are invited, youth in churches are invited, and we want to give them a platform just to interact or to have their issues addressed by the President.”

The convention will come days after President Mnangagwa met with women’s organisations last Friday.

In the meeting the President said he was aware of the challenges affecting women and his Government was doing everything to address them.

Moyo said the impending interface was different from the ones held by former President Mugabe which were hijacked to further factional agendas.

“Remember last year we had disastrous youth interface programmes which deviated from their initial cause. But ours as youth of the new dispensation will give the President a platform to address youth issues outside politics and the economy. As you know our campaign is driven on the economy more than politics as we approach 2018 elections,” said Moyo.

Moyo said each province is expected to send over 10 000 youths to the convention.
He said the country was already in the election period and the party will use the platform to explain Zanu-PF programmes. Moyo urged every registered voter to vote for Zanu-PF.

He urged the party’s supporters to be the party’s ambassadors.

He said cadres should not soil the Zanu-PF name.-state media

LIVE- RBZ Slapped With Lawsuit For Banning Cryptocurrency

A digital innovation using over the top currency called for by MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has seen the Reserve Bank Of Zimbabwe being slapped with a lawsuit for banning it.

Cryptocurrency, as it has now been termed, is digital currency which has turned many into overnight millionaires in western countries. The system, which uses computer network paths as an alternative currency has challenged conventional monetary systems in western countries, while yet making their citizens super rich. In some Western Nations there have been calls to ban it. But these are countries which have their own currencies. Zimbabwe has none.

The RBZ, whose governor has no experience whatsoever in managing a local currency, has banned it. The development has seen Zimbabwe’s largest cryptocurrency company Golix taking the RBZ to the High Court.

Golix argues that the RBZ has no authority to declare cryptos illegal.

Golix says only Parliament has authority to formulate legislature banning virtual currency.”I submit that the ban in effect outlaws and classifies as illegal Applicant’s operations,” they said. They continued stating that “The Respondents are in fact purporting to classify the trade in cryptocurrency as illegal. That will amount to law making, a function that belongs to the legislature and not the Respondents. Respondents are thus clandestinely usurping Parliament’s law making powers.”

Golix also argued that the RBZ did not give ample time for notice and a right of response when they issued their ban. He he case continues. Tonight ZimEye discusses cryptocurrency.

FULL TEXT: Mliswa’s Letter To Shamu Hours Before He Was Fired

Dear Hon. Webster Shamu: Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Mashonaland West,

I trust you are well.

Pursuant to our discussion, I hereby put in writing, which I will follow with official correspondence, my extreme concern at the transport charges being illegally charged to vulnerable people to access Government food aid.

In this instance, it was discovered that at *Madziyire Farm in Ward 13, Norton*, the social worker stationed there who would appear to be working in cahoots with some members of the ZRP is indiscriminately charging disadvantaged recipients of Government Food Aid in the form of maize, the charge of $1.00/bag of maize under the guise of transport charges. Anybody unwilling or unable to make the demanded payment is subsequently denied access to the maize.

It is my understanding that when Government disburses food aid to the vulnerable, all costs are covered, transport included and I am therefore at a loss to understand why a social worker would fraudulently demand further payment from people who are already struggling and in desperate need of the food aid. It becomes increasingly worrisome to learn of alleged police involvement in the illicit deal executed for personal gain.

I therefore urgently recommend that the food aid disbursement programme be temporarily halted to allow for an investigation to be conducted and further, that the concerned social worker be suspended pending investigation.

I trust that the matter will be treated with the urgency it deserves to prevent further prejudice to people already suffering and in dire need of the maize.

Yours sincerely,

Mohadi Refutes Election Rigging Claims

Kembo-Mohadi

Terrence Mawawa

Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said the ruling party Zanu does not have the mandate to control the operations of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) as the latter is an independent organisation.

Mohadi told ZBC News in an interview claims that the ruling party would rig the elections were baseless.

“Not even a single Zanu PF official is attached to ZEC so how can the ruling party manipulate election results?

Opposition parties are trying to discredit the ruling party at every given opportunity.

Where is the evidence of election rigging? There is nothing like that,” said Mohadi.

“We have always said the elections will be free, fair and credible.Opposition elements are desperate to discredit the whole process,” added Mohadi.

Majome Winning MDC-T Primaries Battle, Sitting MPs Not Contested

Jessie Majome

By Paul Nyathi|Steadfast MDC-T parliamentarian for Harare West Jessie Majome may just be winning her protracted battle to retain an uncontested opportunity to be the party’s candidate in the upcoming elections.

Reliable sources within the party have revealed to ZimEye.com that the party has withdrawn primary elections against all sitting parliamentarians in line with Majome’s complaints raised to the party leadership.

Majome withdrew from taking part in the party primary elections claiming that the party had made all sitting MPs to pay a $1000 deposit in order not to be contested to represent the party.

She further complained that the party primary elections process was flawed and subjected to manipulation. She complained bitterly about the lack of a voters roll and control in issuing party cards that made people eligible to vote in the primaries.

After withdrawing from the primary elections, the outspoken legislator declared that she was going to contest the elections as an independent candidate on the insistence of people from the constituency.

The MDC-T held primary elections over the weekend but non of the constituencies with sitting parliamentarians held elections.

The sources who spoke to ZimEye.com indicated that all the sitting parliamentarians joined the calls made by Majome and made similar threats to withdraw from the primary elections.

The party is reported to be holding discussions on how to proceed with the matter.
ZimEye.com could not immediately get a comment from party chairman Morgan Komichi who is in charge of the candidates identification process.

BREAKING. Chamisa Resumes Campaign Rallies

By Own Correspondent| MDC Alliance President this weekend dates Beitbridge as he resumes his election campaign rallies where he is mobilising for the rural vote ahead of the watershed polls set to be held this year.

Chamisa is set to address supporters at Dulibadzimu stadium in Beitbridge on Saturday 26 May 2018.

“Moving forward with the new Zimbabwe vision, meet you there,” said Chamisa in a post on facebook.

The development comes as the Alliance President last weekend cancelled all the campaign rallies including the one slated for Mberengwa.

The cancellation of the rallies were attributed to MDC T primary elections held over the weekend.

LIVE – Army Won’t Allow Chamisa To Enter State House, Declares Minister Mukupe

LIVEBLAST – watch below

By Own Correspondent| In what is set to clearly scare investors away from Zimbabwe, it has been declared that the army will not allow MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to enter state house, as Deputy Finance Minister Terrence Mukupe has declared.

Biggie Zuze Praises Classy FC Platinum

Terrence Mawawa

Dynamos caretaker coach Biggie Zuze yesterday praised FC Platinum who outclassed his side 2-0 at Rufaro Stadium.

The fans also praised the visitors and booed their own players. They sang derogatory songs aimed at club chairman Keni Mubaiwa.

“Good things should be applauded even our fans applauded FC Platinum at the end of the match because they played good football. We lost to a good side,” said Zuze.

FC Platinum settled early getting the lead after just four minutes when double scorer Rodwell Chinyengetere beat two defenders before shooting past the goalkeeper. The reigning soccer star of the year returned moments later showing good technique with a well-taken strike from outside the box.

Dynamos remained on 11th position with 12 points while FC Platinum maintained a three-point gap between them and fellow platinum miners Ngezi Platinum.

Mushekwi Shines In China

Terrence Mawawa

Warriors forward Nyasha Mushekwi is in top form in China.

After scoring his first goal of the season two weeks ago, Mushekwi is really enjoying himself in that country.

He scored a double to earn Dalian Yifang victory over Guizhou Hengfeng

The former Swedish Djurgården striker was unstoppable as his side coasted to a 2-1 victory.

It was the third goal for Mushekwi in five league games. Having failed to make the starting line up at the beginning of the season for Yifang, the goals will surely come as a morale booster for the attacker.

Mushekwi also picked the Man of the Match award.

“I won fairly and there will not be any rerun in the constituency,” he said.

SB: African Union And SADC Have Endorsed Mnangagwa Dispensation

The African Union and SADC have fully endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa;s presidency.

This was said by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Retired Lieutenant General Dr Sibusiso Moyo.

Gen Moyo said this year’s Africa Day celebration is unique in that it takes place when the people of Zimbabwe, in peace, unity and harmony, resolved to rewrite the history of their country by ushering in the new dispensation.

Dr Moyo was interviewed by the state broadcaster, ZBC ahead of Friday’s 55th anniversary of the creation of the Organisation of African Unity now the African Union.

He thanked the SADC and the African Union for their understanding of the events in Zimbabwe and their unwavering support.

He said the visit to Harare by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Dr Mussa Faki Mohamati in February this year and the SADC Executive Secretary Dr Stergomerna Lawrence Tax in March to pay tribute to the people of Zimbabwe, clearly demonstrates the African solidarity that was envisioned by the founding fathers way back in 1963 when they formed the OAU.

Dr Moyo said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in conjunction with the African Group of Diplomatic Ambassadors will on the eve of Africa Day host a dinner for key stakeholders and other pan Africanists to commemorate Africa Day under the 2018 AU theme: ‘Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation’, a mantra that is in tandem with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s new dispensation.

He said the celebration of Africa Day is a time to reflect on Africa’s successes and failures and challenges’, saying since May 1963 the AU has traversed on arduous journey which has led to the adoption of Agenda 2063 and its first 10-year implementation plan.

He welcomed the signing of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance which is testimony to the new dispensation’s commitment to democracy.

Zimbabwe’s signing of the African Continental Free Trade Area; the Protocol on the Free Movement of Persons and Single Africa Air Transport Market is also a sign of Zimbabwe’s commitment to the free movement of people, an integral part of Agenda 2063.

Minister Moyo also declared Zimbabwe’s unequivocal support for peace and unity in the continent and the need to silence the guns and resolution of conflicts, including the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic issue.

Masimirembwa Claims Opposition Will Not Win A Single Seat In Harare

Terrence Mawawa

Zanu PF chairperson for Harare Province Goodwills Masimirembwa has predicted a humiliating loss for the opposition in the capital city.

Speaking in an interview with state broadcaster, ZBC after yesterday’ s rally in Dzivarasekwa Harare, Masimirembwa said the opposition would not win a single Parliamentary Seat in the capital.

“Morale is high in our party and we are ready to romp to victory, come election day.

We have done the necessary groundwork and this time we will trounce the opposition right here in the capital city,” said Masimirembwa.

“We all know that the opposition has nothing to offer to the people of Zimbabwe that is why we are hearing cheap political talk about the ruling party,” added Masimirembwa.

We Will Thrash Opposition Parties- Sekeramayi

Sydney Sekeramayi

Terrence Mawawa

Veteran politician Sydney Sekeramayi has said the ruling party is ready to thrash the opposition in the coming elections.

Addressing party supporters in Mashonaland East Province at the weekend Sekeramayi said the ruling party would silence noisy opposition parties in the coming polls.

“As Zanu PF we are rejuvenated and raring to go.We are stronger than ever and we will reaffirm our political dominance in the coming elections.

Do you think we will lose sleep over the noise coming from the opposition ranks? We will certainly thrash the small parties that are bragging about their imagined popularity,” said Sekeramayi.

He added:” Let us remain focused on winning the coming elections.”

Why Opposition Will Defeat Zanu PF

MDC Alliance supporters at a rally

Terrence Mawawa| Hard-hitting Zanu PF critic Antony Taruvinga has postulated that the opposition will defeat the ruling party because President Emmerson Mnangagwa is a dull leader.

“I personally supported the November Coup that saw Mugabe leaving office.

With Mnangagwa at the helm, Zanu PF votes will be slashed by nearly 50%.

I knew Mnangagwa would not be as charismatic as his predecessor.

Mnangagwa unlike Mugabe, is a perennial loser and too unpopular to win a free and fair election despite being at the helm.

His speeches worsened by a jerky voice do not attract or lure supporters.

One can fall asleep while Mnangagwa is speaking because of his boring and content – free messages,” argued Taruvinga.

“His facial looks make everything worse. His dark history littered with abductions,
attempted genocide, corruption, unlawful land grabbing, hate and satanic speeches make
people dislike and fear him.

“Very few people want to be like Mnangagwa,” added Taruvinga.

Another MDC-T Top Female Leader Goes Solo

Lynette Karenyi

By Paul Nyathi|MDC-T National Women’s wing chairperson Lynette Karenyi has declared her intentions to contest Chikanga – Dangamvura elections as an independent candidate after losing what she called a flawed primary election over the weekend.

The highly vocal and controversial former Chimanimani West legislature in the seventh parliament declared her intentions to go solo in a Facebook post on Monday.

According to Karenyi the primary election results do not reflect the wishes of the people of Chikanga and Dangamvura in Mutare urban. as only two wards out of ten in the constituency cast their votes.

Karenyi who through her years in the MDC-T has been a tough fighter against former President Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF also accused the opposition party of having an irregular electoral process.

Karenyi is popular for her detention in 2011 when she was arrested for saying that former President had same sex with two ZANU PF members.

She claimed that the party never had a proper voters roll and people were being picked in the streets, issued with party cards and brought in to vote.

Karenyi becomes the second MDC-T top female leader to stand against the party primary election system and declared intention to contest the upcoming elections as an independent.

Harare West legislator Jessie Majome was first to take the move last month when she declared that she was not contesting the party primary elections before declaring her intention to contest the seat as an independent.

Reports from within the party indicate that a few more MDC-T heavyweights could be making similar announcements soon.

Karenyi’s official statement rejecting the primary election read as follows:

Rejection of Chikanga-Dangamvura Primary Election conducted on 20th may 2018

I wish to announce that i will not be accepting any of the results or any means of trying to push me out of Chikanga-Dangamvura in an unfair way. The will of the people of Chikanga must prevail. Not the will of fraudlent people bent on party destruction.

In the meantime I have raised my concerns with leadership and hope we will find a workable solution

As a strong women, i normally take what life throws at me in stride, while protecting my values. It is my hope that those who support me and the community of Chikanga/Dangamvura will prove me right

While I am not short on reasons to distrust the electoral team that presided over the primaries. At this point I would urge all those supporting me to remain silent until we hear from the leadership, To those on the ground, ground work must be continued

I wish to convince all of you that I will not be doing anyone a favor by protecting those trying to subvert the will of the people.

“Zanu Will Accept Election Defeat”: VP Mohadi

CO Kembo Mohadi

By Own Correspondent| Zanu Pf is ready to accept election results including handing over power to the winner in the event that the party loses the forthcoming elections, Vice President, Kembo Mohadi said.

VP Mohadi, who for the past two months has been conspicuously absent from national functions due to ill health said his party cannot force itself into power since the people had the power to chose their favourite party to lead them.

“Zanu Pf is not the one that has the power, the power lies with people.

If the people vote us out they would have rejected us. If you lose an election you’d have lost and if you win you would have won. It’s simple as that,” he said.

VP  Mohadi said this in an interview with a local publication where he dismissed allegations that the country was being run by the military or “junta.

VP Mohadi said Zanu-PF draws its mandate from the people through the ballot box and would accept any outcome of the polls.

“Zanu-PF is not run by the military and we are not in the barracks.

Of course, President Mnangagwa is a trained soldier, I am a trained soldier and VP (Constantino) Chiwenga is also a trained soldier because that was our generation. We all went to war because it was a requirement then to go and fight, but you can’t then say we are a military government because we have all since retired from the military,” he said.

Mugabe To Answer On US$15 Billion Missing Diamonds This Wednesday

By Own Correspondent| Former President Robert Mugabe will on Wednesday appear before the Mines and Energy Portfolio Committee to give oral evidence regarding the missing US$15 billion diamond revenue.

Parliament (Monday) issued a notice of Mugabe’s appearance before the committee chaired by Temba Mliswa, indicating that the former president had however not confirmed his presence.

“On the 23rd of May 2018, the Mines and Energy Committee is also expected, subject to confirmation, to receive oral evidence from His Excellency the  former President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. R. G. Mugabe,” read the notice from parliament.

However, a local publication, The Newsday hinted that the hearing could be held at the former president’s residence in Borrowdale, the Blue Roof as a way of giving the former head of state respect due to his advanced age.

Chairperson of the committee, Temba Mliswa said his committee was comfortable with meeting Mugabe at his residence.

“The committee has already resolved that Kennedy Chokuda (Clerk of Parliament) must look at the issue of writing to Mugabe to appear before the committee, and there is pressure that there is need for transparency over the issue of the missing $15 billion revenue.

“Parliament is prepared to give the former Head of State respect and to meet him at his Blue Roof mansion because he is old,” he said.

Mliswa said the meeting was not meant to grill or humiliate Mugabe, but a fact-finding mission to break the puzzle over the missing diamond revenue, which the former leader alluded to at a public meeting in 2016.

MDC T vs Zanu Pf Primaries: Who Has More Supporters?

MDC Alliance Leader Nelson Chamisa and Zanu Pf President Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Own Correspondent| The figures of voters who cast their ballot in MDC T primaries versus the same who cast their vote in Zanu Pf primaries has torched a storm with commentators saying this is reflective and confirms that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will romp to victory in the forthcoming polls.

However, others argue that this is not true considering that most people who participated in Zanu Pf primaries did so out of fear.

Desperate Herald Takes Swipe At Coltart For Chamisa Apology

Senator David Coltart captured in the November 2017 demonstrations against Former President Robert Mugabe.

By Paul Nyathi|The state run Herald Newspaper on Monday ran a long editorial taking swipe at MDC Secretary for legal affairs Senator David Coltart.

The daily took an uncalled for swipe at Coltart apparently because the MDC Alliance candidate for Bulawayo East had demanded the paper to withdraw a false story on Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.

The editorial has received widespread condemnation from political commentators and analysts for its overly very personal attacks on the person of Coltart who is apparently one of the few highly respected politicians in the country.

Coltart retains a record of being the best Minister of Education in the country since independence.

The full editorial comment from The Herald reads as follows:

Indeed election times are upon us and these are interesting times when national discourse is centred on which political party has the vision, the stamina and indeed the depth of character to take our great country forward. In this rough political discourse, those who speak without applying their mind, more often than not, find themselves trying to apply the thought process way after it is too late.

One such character is former Rhodesian cop and MDC politician David Coltart. Coltart is a beneficiary of the colonial Rhodesian government that did everything in its powers, including spilling blood, to suppress the rights of the black majority.

The same Coltart was a beneficiary of the Zanu-PF goodwill policy of national reconciliation enunciated by former president Robert Mugabe at Independence in 1980.

The same Coltart is a beneficiary of the Constitution of Zimbabwe that gives him rights equal to all other Zimbabweans including those he spiritedly sought and still seeks to deprive their rights. Surprisingly, that does not seem to cross his mind or provoke his conscience.

He has never masked his distaste for majority rule in Zimbabwe, which he describes in his book as a continuation of Rhodesian tyranny.

Two weeks ago, before he left for London on his party’s trip of shame, he insulted Zimbabweans, stating brazenly, “For all Zanu-PF’s rhetoric about Zimbabwe being open for business, the one thing they have never learnt in 38 years of misrule is that the single most important factor in any investor’s decision to invest in a country is security of the investment.”

In other words, Independence has been bad for people like Coltart, and he is happy to campaign against investment in the country so long as the MDC continues to be rejected by the people of Zimbabwe.

Then in the past week or so, Coltart has sought to turn his frustration on The Herald, citing the Constitution of Zimbabwe, Section 61 (4) to be precise, by accusing the newspaper of bias. He deliberately ignores the fact that the same section of our supreme law gives public media the right to publish without interference from those suffering from a sense of racial superiority.

It is fact not fiction that Coltart has found the going hard in the MDC-T Alliance top echelons after he made an analysis of Nelson Chamisa’s performance during an interview on BBC HARDtalk, which did not go down well with Chamisa.

The poor fellow said what his master did not want to hear. Coltart, typical of those used to benefiting from all systems, he now wants to use The Herald as a smokescreen behind which to hide his real opinion on Chamisa’s performance.

His is nothing, but a blatant attempt to abuse the Constitution of the country by picking part of a section and leaving out the other parts. And, now he blames The Herald.

The Constitution is for us all. Yes, Coltart benefited from Rhodesia, Zimbabwe-Rhodesia and indeed Zimbabwe and now he thinks he can be taken as a neutral between Zanu-PF and the MDC-T Alliance. No!

It is just the Zanu-PF Government is too humane, too tolerant and too considerate. And people like Coltart know they can take advantage of that to traffic their quisling politics in the name of democracy.

It’s obviously something he wouldn’t do in Europe and America where nationalist politics is in ascendancy.
Freedom of expression, freedom of the media and all freedoms cannot continue to be reserved for a single person or political formation. Freedom should not be freedom only when it benefits David Coltart.
