Zimbabwe Hit by Cooking Oil Shortage

SURFACE
ZIMBABWE has been hit by a cooking oil shortage that has seen over 70% of the product being imported.
A leading local retailer says Zimbabwe’s cooking oil producers are failing to meet market demand, driving the continued reliance on imports from the region.
Zimbabwe has four oil producing firms — ETG Parrogate, Surface Investments, Olivine and United Refineries whose combined production of 10,500 metric tonnes comes short of the country’s monthly requirement of 11,500 metric tonnes.
Imports of cooking oil have over the past years contributed heavily to the country’s bill, with $41 million worth of edible oils being imported in 2014. This year between January and June close to $19 million has been spent on importing cooking oil.
In August Government raised customs duty for cooking oil to 40 percent and a 25 percent Surtax or $0,50 per litre, whichever is higher in a move aimed at deterring importation of the edible oils but a director of the local unit of Botswana retailer, Choppies, Siqokoqela Mphoko told The Source on Friday that retailers had to rely on imports as producers were failing to meet demand.
“When we started about two years ago we were importing about 90 percent of our products but now we have more than 75 percent coming from the local market serve for a few products we have a challenge with such as cooking oil and soap. I think most of the refineries cannot cope with demand,” said Mphoko.
In an August interview Confederation of Zimbabwean Industries (CZI) president Busisa Moyo told The Source that capacity utilization in the sector was above 70 percent and that local production would surpass demand by September, ruling out the need for imports.
Moyo was today not available to comment.
Choppies entered the local market by buying Bulawayo-based businessman Raj Modi’s investment company, Modi Enterprises, for $21,2 million and taking over 11 of the outlets that were operating under the Aaro Mart and Spar franchises in Bulawayo in 2013. It now has 24 retail outlets in Zimbabwe.

Kenyans Attack Mugabe over Fake Statements

gay compliant? ...President Robert Mugabe
attacked…President Robert Mugabe

NAIROBI —Don’t believe everything you read on social media – especially in the recent Kenyan tirades against President Robert Mugabe.
International Twitter wars (Twars) have become something of a sport among African countries in recent years — with Kenyans often the most vociferous participants. But this time they seem to have called it wrong.
On Wednesday, a Kenyan news outlet, The Spectator, published an article about Mugabe.
It said he had made defamatory comments towards the Kenyan public, although the report has been discredited.
But here is what Mugabe is meant to have said: “Those people of East Africa shock me with their wizardry in stealing. Sometimes I tend to believe that stealing is in every Kenyan’s blood . . . You can even think that there is a subject in their universities called Bachelor of Stealing.”
In fact, there’s no actual evidence Mugabe said any such thing.
Nevertheless, offended and outraged, the active community of Kenyans on Twitter — or KOT, as they often abbreviate themselves — led a barrage of verbal attacks against Zimbaweans using the tag Kenyans vs Zimbabweans.
It was tweeted over 9 000 times accompanied by memes and tongue-in-cheek jibes at Zimbabwe’s financial straits.
One Twitter user said: “When Mugabe call Kenyans thieves, he forgets he has robbed Zimbabweans.” Another said: “You are laughing at each other, but the irony is your problems mirror each other.”
The tag seems to have been used first by Josiah Mutai, a user who has been involved in previous online feuds.

Just a week earlier he had been engaged in another Twitter war, “Kenyans vs Nigerians”.
But Zimbabweans themselves didn’t really engage with the trend, very few of the tweets came from there, and indeed more seemed to come from expat communities in the United Kingdom.
And then came the twist: It appears there is now significant doubt that Mugabe made these remarks at all.
An article in Kenyan newspaper The Star claims to debunk the statements, saying their Zimbabwean sources confirm Mugabe made no such address.
BBC reporters covering the region have also not found evidence of the speech.
Reports of the falsified article have not held back the tide of KOT fury, however, and the tag has continued to be used in Kenya.
Peter Mwai of BBC Swahili says an abrasive Twitter culture is “part of the national pride” in Kenya. “They normally understand it’s for fun,” he says. “The only problem is that sometimes it goes too far.” —— online

Mugabe Dying in 53 Days’ time, Prophet Says

President Robert Mugabe is exiting human life in 54 days’ time, popular Malawian prophet, Austin Liabunya, says.
tmp_3431-profet2_476269876(2)-1984071024
10 months after he made his controversial prediction, the preacher has expressed no regret saying Mugabe will die by the 31st December this year.
He made these utterances at the new year during a cross over service in Lilongwe.
The service was held in Area 23 at Music Cross Road tent in Malawi’s administrative capital Lilongwe in the early hours of January 1st.
prophet
Liabunya said “Mugabe’s biological clock will not tick beyond this year ” after which Zimbabwe will be “restored” to be one of the richest countries in Africa.
The prophet said First Lady Grace Mugabe “will never win in Zimbabwean politics” and had simply joined politics to “protect her ill-gotten wealth,” for which she would be soon humiliated.
Liabunya said that it would be good for Grace to contest as she would give back wealth to the Zimbabweans during the campaign period.
This time the preacher says Mugabe will “certainly die as proclaimed by this oracle of God and I will be vindicated as God’s humble messenger.”
Liabunya is a controversial figure who has won himself a following over the last few years predicting accurate political events in Malawi. His followers say that he accurately prophesied former Malawian President Joyce Banda’s defeat in 2014.
But the preacher has been slammed for making false predictions all to seek popularity after during the same January service he told his followers that Zambian opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema would emerge as the new President of Zambia when the country goes to election on January 20, something which turned out to be untrue. The United Party for Development leader was beaten by Patriotic Front leader Edgar Lungu who ironically has been getting support from President Mugabe.
Church members charge the Prophet did not miss anything and had already said Lungu would win by stealth after obtaining help from Mugabe.

ZRP Cops Beaten Up By Soldier

A SOLDIER based at Mbizo Barracks in Bulawayo allegedly ran amok and assaulted three police officers, who tried to arrest him after accusing them of being thieves.
This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Sithembiso Ncube on Wednesday when Richard Mjumi (22) appeared before her, charged with undermining police authority, assaulting and resisting a police officer.
Mjumi pleaded guilty to the charge and the magistrate remanded him to Wednesday next week for sentence.
The court heard that on October 28 this year, Mjumi was playing snooker at Mpilo Central Hospital when a police officer, Solomon Dzingirai, passed by in the company of other officers, only identified as Constables Tabinga and Taruvinga.
The court heard, when Mjumi saw them, he labelled them thieves, in Shona, questioning their presence in the area.
“You are thieves, you want to disturb us from playing snooker. People are being killed and have their property stolen, while you are here,” Mjumi is said to have remarked.
“If you remain here, I will hit you with stones.”
After the brief confrontation, the three police officers approached him intending to arrest him, but he became violent and attacked them with fists and booted feet.
The officers sustained injuries, but eventually managed to arrest him.-SouthernEye

Mliswa Rubbishes Herald Story On Return to ZANU PF

Former Hurungwe West MP Temba Mliswa has dismissed a State Media report that quotes him making a passionate plea to return to the Grace Mugabe controlled party.
Mliswa described the below report as “rubbish..” He did not deny that he is asking to be forgiven by ZANU PF as he is quoted in the article.
He however told ZimEye.com “read the whole story and have it recorded where I am saying I wouldn’t due to the violence.”
FULL TEXT OF THE Herald Report:
MLISWA BEGS ZANU PF FOR RETURN
Former Hurungwe West legislator Temba Mliswa has made a passionate plea to Zanu-PF to accept him back following his ouster last year after being linked to a cabal that sought to unconstitutionally unseat President Mugabe.
Mr Mliswa was touted as a vital cog in the intended putsch whose quashing claimed several scalps, including that of former Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru, the leader of the rebels.
Mr Mliswa was the first party provincial chairman to be sacked and since then he has been a wondering spirit hobnobbing with the opposition and has also tried to reclaim his Hurungwe West seat, but lost to Cde Keith Guzah in June.
But Mr Mliswa, who has fallen out with the Dr Mujuru-linked People First project, says his heart is with Zanu-PF.
He told The Herald about the dim prospects of People First which up to date does not have structures and is a “newspaper and social media party”. He claims that the rebellion in Zanu-PF and the People First Project had withered on the vine because its mastermind and Dr Mujuru’s husband, Solomon, had died. “You see, the truth of the matter is you are giving prominence to something which is not even registered,” he said.
“I mean, Jim Kunaka said what he said representing People First, as who? I tried to go around looking for the constitution, they have no constitution, they have no office. Who is the leader of the party? It’s speculative, it’s in the paper. “And the truth of the matter is I have never known of a party which has no leader and which has no address . . . You see for me to waste time on people speculating on a newspaper party, on a social media party, I am not like that.“I believe politics is by going to the ground. Even the BUILD document that they put together, who endorsed it?
“They are saying that Zanu-PF is very dictatorial. At least one thing that Zanu-PF does is call for a conference and a congress and it make resolutions. They (People First) did not even call for a conference to hear from the people and for the people to endorse it.”
He said if People First had a constituency, it should have fielded candidates in the intervening by-elections. “David Butau is People First, why did he not stand as People First in Mbire? Bhasikiti was Mwenezi and he claims to be People First but he is allowing his constituency to go to Zanu-PF but he is People First. I have never understood such politics. Politics is about people.”
He explained: “The other issue is that who was the brains behind this (putschist agenda)? It was her husband the late General Mujuru who was the strategist, who was the driver of this. He is no more unfortunately. So who can replace him? No one. So you know when a project has a strategist and the strategist is not there, why continue with it?
“You are in a war and the commander is not there, he knows the route, do you continue with the war or you abandon the struggle? And if you can’t beat them you join them and you surrender,” he said.
Mr Mliswa is itching for a return to the ruling party. “(I)f it is true that this country is about us being a better people and being a better people means the political party (Zanu-PF) being stable, why can’t the political party extend a hand of reconciliation and say a lot happened?” said Mr Mliswa.
“Especially for me, I wrote a letter to say but my suspension was not fair. As much as people would what they want, I wrote because I did not believe I had done anything wrong. I believe that it was in the interest of the party that if I am wrong it (disciplinary action) is done properly and I go back to the people who elected me and say I am no longer in the party because I was found guilty of ABCD.
“I have never been given an opportunity to explain my side other than talking to you in an interview, that’s the only time that I talk about that…I mean Zanu-PF forgave the white man who they went to war with and killed. I am not a white man. I never even went to war and killed anyone. But they fail to forgive me!” he bemoaned.

Masiyiwa Honoured By United Nations

Getting his award...Strive Masiyiwa
Getting his award…Strive Masiyiwa
By James Makuwire | Econetwireless founder and Executive Chairman, Strive Masiyiwa was picked up for two prestigious awards in New York this week in recognition of his philanthropic work.
On Tuesday he was honored by the United Nations Foundation for co-ordinating African business support for efforts in the fight against the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The function, which was attended by the Secretary General of the United Nations and dozens of other leading UN officials, philanthropists from around the world and heads of diplomatic missions, honored Masiyiwa for responding to the AU’s call for African businesses to respond to a very African situation which was threatening to get out of hand and engulf the entire region were it not contained urgently.
Mr. Masiyiwa swung into action after receiving a desperate call from the Chair of African Union, Mrs. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to help. Mrs. Zuma had already gathered hundreds of African medical volunteers who were prepared to risk their lives by going to the three countries and serve. However, as usual, the AU had no capacity to provide logistics and the finances required for the operation.
According to the citation, Mr. Masiyiwa organized for business colleagues to contribute and maintain the AU team in the three countries helping to contain the situation.
Former Secretary General, Dr Kofi Annan who handed the trophy to Mr. Masiyiwa, paid tribute to the Zimbabwean enterpreneur and said he was a true African with a big heart who, although having made it in life, still thought about the under-preveleged and gave his all in helping others.
The next day, Mr. Masiyiwa was again making his way to the podium at a massive function to receive The Freedom Award from the International Rescue Committee which is catering for millions of refugees world wide. The IRC is a humanitarian organization which also provides health care to the poor and is present in more than 100 countries, including Zimbabwe.
Its workers are drawn from across the globe and operate in places such as Syria, Afghanistan and Central African Republic, DR Congo and Vietnam.
The Freedom Award citation states that Mr. Masiyiwa has, over the past 20 years, provided scholarships to more than 100,000 young Africans to study abroad and at home through his family foundation. (Another foundation, run on a full time basis by his wife, Tsitsi, caters for more than 40,000 HIV/AIDS orphans).

UK:Zim Man Caught In The Act Drug Dealing, Jailed

A drug dealer has been jailed for three years after officers tried to search him in the street because he was acting suspiciously.

Jailed...Ranga Gwatidzo
Jailed…Ranga Gwatidzo

Rangarirai Gwatidzo, 24, of Ravensfield, Basildon, was convicted of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of heroin with intent to supply. He was also convicted of being in possession of cannabis.
He was sentenced to three years in prison following a hearing at Basildon Crown Court yesterday.
Gwatidzo, who is unemployed, was seen acting suspiciously by Pc Dan Onley in Rippleside in Basildon at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, January 7.
Pc Onley stopped him for a search but Gwatidzo scuffled with him and CS gas was deployed. Gwatidzo ran away, throwing a bag that contained one gram of cannabis into an alleyway.
Officers made enquiries and found where Gwatidzo was living at an address in Ravensfield, Basildon. They went to his home the next day and found 3.58 grams of heroin and 2.592 grams of crack cocaine hidden inside a hooded jumper.
He was arrested and taken into custody.
Sgt Ben Woollard of the Basildon Proactive Team said: “This is a good example of how a basic stop and search can result in a Class A drug dealer being taken off the streets. The Courts imposing a custodial sentence shows that Class A supply will not be tolerated.”
Anyone who has any information about drugs activity in Basildon is asked to contact the Basildon Proactive Team on Essex Police 101.

Gumbura’s 11th Wife Mysteriously Pregnant

Statw Media-Jailed Independent End Time Message leader Robert Martin Gumbura’s youngest and 11th wife on Wednesday appeared to be pregnant as she attended her husband’s trial at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
Bester Runyowa (25) appeared at the court with a visible bulge on her stomach, almost two years after Gumbura’s incarceration. The bulge follows revelations in the same court that her husband had unfettered freedom in prison that included his own private corner, bodyguards, a secretary and unquestionable permission that allowed his wives to bring in 960 bricks of cigarettes.
The bulge has heightened speculation on whether Gumbura is also enjoying his conjugal rights while in prison.Gumbura was sentenced to an effective 40-year jail term on four countsof rape involving three women and possessing pornographic material in February last year.
Runyowa was spotted when she came to attend her husband’s jailbreak trial in which he is accused with eight others of masterminding a foiled jailbreak at Chikurubi Maximum Prison on Wednesday.
During the jailbreak trial, State witness Claudius Mutizwa told the court that Gumbura is regarded as a “godfather” and prison officers beg for food from him.
Gumbura’s brother, Wilson, vehemently denied that the pregnant woman is one of Gumbura’s wives.
“The pregnant woman is not one of Gumbura’s wives. She is just a member of the congregation. Remember that a lot of people stay at Gumbura’s house at No. 6 Helena Close in Marlborough, Harare.
“All the 11 wives are there and still waiting for him.”
However, about seven wives are religiously following their husband’s trial.Gumbura went to jail, leaving behind his 11 adoring wives.Three of his wives, who were pregnant at the time he was jailed, have since given birth. State Media

Grace Quashes Mnangagwa, Hijacks War Collaborators Conference

Grace, Mnangagwa fight spills into war collaborators camp…
By Tinoonga Mawere | Masvingo| In yet another twist of events the First Lady Grace Mugabe will this afternoon hijack the war collaborators national conference to prop up her political image and ravage her foes .
The Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators (ZILIWACO) is holding a national conference at Mucheke Stadium starting yesterday up to Sunday and the all-round First Lady will this afternoon hijack the podium in a bid to coerce the war collaborators in a move that is likely to split the association.
It is understood Grace views the platform as the grand opportunity to undress Vice President Mnangagwa believed to be angling himself to succeed President Robert Mugabe. Mrs Mugabe ‘ds attempts to ascend to the presidency have angered many Zimbabweans who have suffered for decades under her husband ‘s controversial economic policies.Several university have been reduced to street vendors.  The unemployment rate has soared to unprecedented levels.
War collaborators who spoke to ZimEye.com yesterday expressed disappointment at the way Mrs Mugabe will bulldoze her way to the ZILIWACO podium. “This is an ambush – we thought she(Grace) would address the rally and go but some of us have been ordered to put her posters on our vehicles. The message on the posters is Munhu wese kuna Amai(Everyone must follow the First Lady).
We wonder what is really happening because as ZILIWACO we have our own policies and resolutions ,” fumed a war collaborator who called himself Mujibha Matare from Gutu.
Mrs Mugabe and her G40 group members are expected to address a rally at Mucheke Stadium this afternoon but what has angered the residents of Masvingo is the failure by Grace and her husband to tackle the nagging economic puzzle. War veterans and war collaborations associations are seen as vital cogs that propel Zanu PF politicians to the summit of the troubled revolutionary party.
It is now understood the fight between Grace and Mnangawa has spilled into the war collaborators camp-threatening to tear the association assunder.

Mswati may have all the controversy around his conduct as a womaniser and a serial impregnator, but Africa’s last absolute monarch would look a “impotent” when compared to the Indian man, Ziona Chana.

New challenge….Mswati with Robert Mugabe

They all live in a four storied building with 100 rooms in a mountainous village in Mizoram state, sharing borders with Burma and Bangladesh, according to reports.
“I once married 10 women in one year,” Ziona Chana said.
His wives share a dormitory near Ziona’s private bedroom and locals said he likes to have seven or eight of them by his side at all times.
The sons and their wives, and all their children, live in different rooms in the same building, but share a common kitchen.
The wives take turns cooking, while his daughters clean the house and do washing. The men do outdoor jobs like farming and taking care of livestock.
The family, all 167 of them, consumes around 200lb of rice and more than 130lb of potatoes a day. They are supported by their own resources and occasional donations from followers.
“Even today, I am ready to expand my family and willing to go to any extent to marry,” Ziona said.
“I have so many people to care (for) and look after, and I consider myself a lucky man.”
Mr Chana met his oldest wife, who is three years older than him, when he was 17.
He heads a local Christian religious sect, called the “Chana”, which allows polygamy. Formed in June 1942, the sect believes it will soon be ruling the world with Christ and has a membership of around 400 families. (Additional Reporting – Guardian Media/ Black Technocrat)

Zanu PF ‘Bombs’ Kariba: CashRaid for December Conference

Zanu PF youths have cash-bombed Kariba, raiding the resort town with demands of $6 each mandatory contributions from the public towards fund raising for the fractious party’s annual conference to be held in Victoria Falls in December.
“They are ordering each person to give them $6 which they claim is for the conference which we will never attend, and they are saying they will deal with those who would not have donated,” said an elderly man from Nyamhunga Township.
A Mahombekombe high density suburb woman who declined to be named confirmed that hoardes of Zanu Pf youths were visiting them and forcing “us” to contribute.
“They are moving with books in which they are recording ID numbers and names of people who would have paid including those who are not complying,” she said.
One of the Youths told ZimEye.com that they want “our” party members to fundraise for the conference as opposed to forcing companies.
“It is not true that we are forcing people to contribute. All the people we are approaching are our party members who we are asking to contribute towards the conference,” she said.
“We have over the years been accused of extorting companies and this year we have taken it upon ourselves that our party members raise funds for the event”.
Simon Khaya Moyo could not be reached to establish if it was the party’s official position to extort the public in the name of fundraising for the conference which has been slated for 7 and 8 December. The party on Thursday held a fund raising dinner in Harare for the conference which they said needs $1 million for its success.

BREAKING NEWS: Grace In Magaya Drift, Plunges Masvingo Into Total Confusion

By Tinoonga Mawere, Masvingo| First Lady Grace Mugabe plunged Masvingo province into a state of sudden confusion early Friday after she overnight changed the rally date earlier slated for this morning.
Thousands who traveled from remote areas some a hundred kilometres away are currently stranded in town under the scorching life threatening heat after they arrived only to be told the President’s wife is arriving a day later.
Some of the supporters have since been dumped at Liquids Bar in Masvingo where they are to be addressed later by party officials.
Liquids Bar is owned by one Mrs Chivanga a Grace Mugabe loyalist.
Sources told ZimEye.com Mrs Mugabe shifted everything last night.
The reasons are said to be twofold : to save her “political brand” from shame after newsreaders attacked her for cancelling school classes and force-marching kids to the meeting. Other reasons given were because she is plotting attending controversial preacher Walter Magaya’s church service tonight.
“She is attending Prophet Magaya’s all night service,” suggested another source.
Presidential spokesman George Charamba earlier in the week told ZimEye.com he will not comment on what he called the First Lady’s private business.
Charamba told ZimEye.com, “you should find out from the Prophet not from us.”
“You should go by the Prophet, he is the owner of the church. Government does not go to church does it?!
When further grilled on his job description as the Presidential Spokesman which he would be doing disservice by refusing to speak, Charamba replied saying he would not comment on the First Family’s private life.
“Exactly I do so; (but) I don’t do so in terms of their private activities,” he said.

Chiwenga Ditches Grace, Now Backing Mnangagwa

FOLLOWING Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent remarks in an interview with the London-based New African magazine that the current army commanders are junior and do not pose a threat to his succession bid, it has emerged Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander General Constantine Chiwenga is now firmly backing the veteran politician to succeed President Robert Mugabe.
At separate briefings this week, senior Zanu PF leaders said initially Chiwenga was vacillating between two camps, one led by Mnangagwa and the other by First Lady Grace Mugabe, because as an appointee of the President as commander-in-chief he has to maintain loyalty to him, and by extension to his wife who is now vastly influential, for survival.
They also said he at the same time also needed to remain loyal to Mnangagwa, a long-time ally and boss dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.
At a rally in March, Mnangagwa described Chiwenga as “our commissar”, apparently referring to his role during the struggle, although it also sounded like a coded message to refer to his current manoeuvres behind the scenes.
“The person I want you to meet is our commissar. Do you know Chiwengwa? … Stand up Chiwengwa so that people can see you,” Mnangagwa said.
Zanu PF’s current political commissar is Saviour Kasukuwere. However, by choosing to support Mnangagwa, Chiwenga has reportedly put his career on the line as Mugabe, now hugely influenced by his increasingly powerful wife, has powers to extend his tenure or terminate his contract.
“Since the December congress last year, there has been a new realignment of forces in Zanu PF and state actors: Chiwenga now firmly supports Mnangagwa, while (Vice-President Phelekezela) Mphoko and others like Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi are leaning towards Grace. Other senior army commanders however don’t agree with Chiwenga and thus support Grace to remain aligned with the commander-in-chief. Chiwenga is loyal to Mugabe, but by supporting Mnangagwa he risks being seen as anti-Grace, something which currently is politically suicidal,” a senior ruling party official said this week.
“Even if Sekeramayi is known to be an ally of Mai Mujuru (the ousted former vice-president Joice Mujuru replaced by Mnangagwa), he is now slowly but surely aligning himself with Grace to find a new lease of political life after surviving those ruthless purges before, during and after congress. There are also endless others shifts and changes behind the scenes; the two main rival factions are recruiting frantically, while party officials are also ever-changing, seeking safe accommodation. The internal dynamics are very fluid.”
This comes as the First Lady is intensifying her nationwide campaigns whose purpose remains unclear and subject to speculation, although it is widely understood within Zanu PF that she is campaigning to raise her national profile, thus positioning herself to succeed her increasingly frail husband, now 91.
“Grace and her allies’ strategy is to build an alliance spanning Mashonaland and Matabeleland provinces to isolate Mnangagwa to Masvingo and Midlands, and perhaps Manicaland which is up for grabs,” another official said. “That way he won’t have a national profile and electoral grip, leaving him vulnerable to defeat. But Mnangagwa knows that and he is fighting to stop that plan.”
Grace, who is also the Zanu PF secretary for Women’s Affairs, is expected to address a party rally tomorrow in Mnangagwa’s heartland of Masvingo where she will face a stern test to prove she has a strong political following to challenge the veteran politician, one of the three survivors, together with Mugabe and Sekeramayi, from the Zanu PF 1977 Chimoio congress.
Mnangagwa’s appearance at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo in April did not attract a huge crowd as was expected, although the province and Midlands region are his strongholds. Grace will also be under media and public scrutiny to see whether she will persist to brazenly abuse state resources for political gain.
Initially it was believed that Chiwenga had presidential ambitions, but latest information shows he has dropped that agenda firmly throwing his weight behind Mnangagwa’s camp. “What is now clear is that two factions have crystalised in Zanu PF post-congress. There is now the Mnangagwa and Grace Mugabe factions, which replaced the traditional Mnangagwa versus Mujuru camps,” another senior ruling party official said. “No amount of denials and protests by anyone can change this: we have factions and they are action, sometimes publicly, daily.”
Chiwenga’s latest position comes after Mnangagwa, in an interview with the New African magazine in August, said: “The current army commanders were very young at the time (during the liberation struggle), and I can guarantee you that there is nobody in the army who is of our generation. Those who are heading the military now were junior officers during the struggle because all their commanders have either died or retired.”
Insiders say the Mnangagwa camp is associated with people who believe in a transitional arrangement in which Mugabe should not be a candidate in 2018.
They say Mnangagwa faction’s strategy is to approach the current situation in Zanu PF as a transitional phase. So it has positioned its leader to stay ready to take over from Mugabe if he leaves offices before the expiry of his term in 2018. The faction strongly believes he will leave before 2018.
However, while the Mnangagwa camp is preparing its leader to take over anytime, the clear message from Mugabe and those around him has always been that he is going nowhere.
Insiders say Grace’s G40 group, which includes senior party officials like Jonathan Moyo, Kasukuwere and Patrick Zhuwao, by contrast, believes it is premature to talk about transition from Mugabe’s rule when he is just two years into his new five-year tenure. Moyo has been fearlessly attacking the Mnangagwa group as the battle for political turf and control escalates.  Independent

Doctor Impregnates Form 6 Pupil

By Tinoonga Mawere Chiredzi | Former Masvingo Provincial governor, Titus Maluleke’s son, George Hatilani Maluleke, who is a medical doctor has been dragged to court by a Chiredzi woman for maintenance.
Maluleke whose father was the governor for Masvingo province at the height of political tension and mass victimisation of opposition supporters, allegedly impregnated Suzzy Pennot who was an upper six student at the time. Maluleke reportedly coerced the girl at that time by giving her money and presents.
The former governor’s son however denied the allegations claiming the child was not his. Maluleke also told Chiredzi magistrate Gerald Mutsotso he could not afford the $360 which Pennot -now 22 demanded. Maluleke is a beneficiary of the controversial land reform programme since he was allocated a farm by his father.
However it is understood there is virtually no activity at his farm-indicating the chaotic land reform exercise has destroyed meaningful production in the country. Meanwhile Mary Chipo Saidi who is a local advocacy officer for an Non Governmental Organisation concerned about Children’s rights, condemned paedophilic behaviour.
She said girls were falling prey to older men because of pressing social commitments and economic hardships. She added the current social instability has eroded the moral fabric in the country. “We are worried about the increase in the number sexual abuse involving school girls and older men. This is mainly attributed to social and economic problems. We are even disturbed by the fact that a medical doctor is involved in such issues,” said Saidi.

‘Mugabe son’ Allocates Game Farm to Son in law

Abednico Ncube
Abednico Ncube

Staff Reporter | Self confessed President Robert Mugabe’s loyal son and current Minister of culture and rural development Abednico Ncube’s name has been drawn into a fraudulent allocation of a prime farm in Gwanda.
Ncube and Gwanda district lands officer Makheyi Maseko are accused of allocating part of Nsindi Ranch in Gwanda to Minister Ncube’s son in law without following proper procedures. In a story developing at the Gwanda Civil court, the owner of the farm identified as J F Stewart is contesting the allocation of his farm to Ncube’s son in law who has produced unauthentic offer documents to court.
The documents are believed to have been signed by both Ncube and Maseko without the approval of the district lands committee nor the District Administrator who chairs the lands committee.
The case appeared at the Gwanda Civil Court for the second time yesterday but was postponed without deliberations to next week Wednesday.
Meanwhile, scores of villagers have been accompanying the white farmer to court to resist the allocation of the farm to the Minister’s son in law believed to be a CIO operative. On the other hand, an equal number of war veterans and some ZANU PF supporters have also been going to the court singing revolutionary songs and demanding for the white farmer’s eviction from the farm.
Villagers insist that the farmer will not be moved from the farm as he has been assisting them with farming projects for many years.
The stand off is likely to see political heavy weights bringing a solution to the matter which appears to be wriggling around ZANU PF succession issues. War veterans are believed to be instigated by a faction loyal to Vice President Emerson Munangagwa to frustrate the local white farmers who ate said to be loyal to first lady Grace Mugabe and have been busy gathering resources for the first lady’s visit to there province soon.

Kasukuwere, Zhuwao To Be Beaten Up In Public

ZANU PF Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere together with President Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao are set to be bashed in public as punishment for their support of Grace Mugabe.
The two are named in a batch including Prof Jonathan Moyo who top ZANU PF youths want to humiliate for their support of President Robert Mugabe’s controversial wife, Grace.
The development has seen Zanu-PF secretary for Youth Affairs, Pupurai Togarepi, pleading with journalists saying he knows anything of the youths.

The group popularly known as Zimbabwe Youth Action Platform, wants to manhandle the three Cabinet ministers as punishment for their support of Grace Mugabe.

“We have nothing to do with it. We have no knowledge about the group including whatever it represents and what they are doing. In Zanu-PF we have processes and procedures of raising grievances and not the manner in which they have done it,” said Togarepi.
He said Zanu-PF was loyal to the party through its leadership led by President Mugabe. Togarepi was responding to claims by the group that claimed loyalty to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“We do not support individuals or owe allegiance to individuals, but to the revolution and the party led by President Mugabe. We believe in supporting party leadership as represented by President Mugabe. We do not know how they selected individuals,” said Togarepi.
MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu said they had nothing to do with the group, that has been linked to the opposition party.
“It is not in any way affiliated to us as MDC-T. We have nothing to do with the group. We have nothing to do with factional fights in Zanu-PF,” said Mr Gutu.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the group led by its president Mr Tonderayi Chidawa, threatened to manhandle the three Cabinet ministers said to be fronting the so-called Generation 40.
The three Cabinet ministers are Saviour Kasukuwere (Local Government, Public Works and National Housing), Professor Jonathan Moyo (Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development) and Patrick Zhuwao (Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment).
The majority of the youths had wristbands emblazoned with the face and names of President Mugabe and VP Mnangagwa.
Chidawa claimed that the three ministers would be humiliated in public at the National Heroes Acre.

Gumbura Had Secretary, Bodyguards In Prison

Feeding jail guards? Robert Gumbura
Feeding jail guards? Robert Gumbura
State Media- Jailed Independent End Time Message leader Robert Martin Gumbura, who had bodyguards and a secretary in prison, allegedly smuggled 960 bricks of cigarettes into Chikurubi Security Maximum Prison, the court heard today.
During cross-examination, a State witness Claudius Mutizwa, told the court that Gumbura had a large corner, a base where he stayed with his bodyguards and a secretary, David Mwanjira.
“Gumbura’s secretary used to record everything that he received,” said Mutizwa. Asked by Gumbura’s lawyer Mr Tapson Dzvetero where the records where, Mutizwa said they were taken by prison officers.
“Gumbura received 960 bricks of cigarettes and four boxes of pizza from his wives,” said Mutizwa. “I was friends with Gumbura’s secretary Mwanjira and sometimes I would help him record and keep the cigarettes.
“I used to work in the prison library and at one point I kept three sacks of cigarettes for Gumbura. On February 13, Gumbura asked me if I was happy with the type of food we were being served before saying Zimbabweans are foolish and have no guts.”
Gumbura is jointly charged with Blessing Chauke (25), Lucky Mhungu (38), Taurai Dodzo (47), Thomas Chacha (37), Thulani Chizema (32), Jacob Sibanda (28) and, Elijah Vhumbunu (38) and an armed robber, Lucky Matambanadzo (39).
The nine are accused of masterminding a foiled jailbreak at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison earlier this year. They are facing charges of attempting to escape from lawful custody, incitement in aggravating circumstances or alternatively conspiracy in aggravating circumstances for malicious damage to property.
Prosecutor Mr Michael Reza alleged that during the morning of February 13 in B Hall, Gumbura allegedly incited other inmates to protest over the type of food they were being served.
With the intention to escape, Chauke, Matambanadzo, Mhungu, Dodzo, Chacha, Sibanda, Vhumbunu, Chizema and three other inmates who are now deceased, influenced inmates to reject the porridge they were served, which had no sugar, it is alleged.
Violence erupted, with prisoners vandalising property whose value was estimated at $450 000.

ZIFA Presidency: Chiyangwa, Carlise, Gwindi Submit Papers

At least three contestants for the post of ZIFA president beat Thursday’s deadline to submit their papers for the powerful post of the country’s soccer governing body.
According to some ZIFA officials, Phillip Chiyangwa, Trevor Carlise and Leslie Gwindi, submitted their papers and paid the required $2,500 to the ZIFA Electoral Committee headed by former president of the Labour Court, Sello Nare.
Front runner Chiyangwa’s nearest rival, Alexander Maseko, failed to submit his papers after paying a fee of $50 to get the nomination papers.
Chiyangwa’s running mate, Omega Sibanda, who was in the previous ZIFA executive as its vice president, told VOA Studio 7 they hope to win the two posts on December 5th.
Former Highlanders vice chairman is also running for the same post. Other names are yet to be confirmed by ZIFA officials, who declined to release all names of contesting candidates.
Meanwhile, Maseko tells Studio 7 why he pulled out of the ZIFA presidential election.
It’s not yet known whether former Warriors player, Benjani Mwaruwari, filed his nomination papers for the post of ZIFA president. He was not available for comment.
The Zimbabwe football public is unanimous that Chiyangwa, the so-called king of selfies, is not the right man to lead Zimbabwean football out of the mess it finds itself in today.
Unfortunately the public does not have a vote in the matter as only the 55 members of the ZIFA Council will vote in the ZIFA presidential elections.
Chiyangwa has declared he is right candidature for the ZIFA presidency and says he believes he is the right man for the job that was left vacant following the ouster of Cuthbert Dube.
He says he wants to go into ZIFA to save the association and not to waste his time. To him, being ZIFA president is a national service.
The former Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman says as a successful businessman he can do better that former ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube whom he says was a mere PSMAS employee.
He says he is ready to ensure that the $6 million ZIFA debt is cleared and to make sure the player and ZIFA employee terms of contract are respected.
However, there are many like former Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa, who believes Chiyangwa is not the right man for the job.
Chidzambwa says football right now needs somebody who has been in football and has at one time administered the game not people with money.
A member of the Warriors Fan Club Josiah Munetsi says Zimbabwean football does not need rich people since football itself generates its own money.
Former Warriors captain Misheck Chidzambwa as well as football followers, Peter Mukweva and Stanford Makwiro all agreed saying as things stand right now Chiyangwa, who in the past has acquired many company and drove them into the ground, is not the right man for the game.-VOA

Tomana Behind Zanu PF Killings-Biti

Tendai Biti the leader of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says the troubled Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana should be jailed for refusing to prosecute Zanu PF activists who murdered over 200 opposition supporters in the run up to the bloody 27 June 2008 Presidential runoff election.
According to the MDC over 200 of their supporters were maimed by known Zanu PF activists and security agents.
The party also claimed that thousands more were displaced as a result of the terror which was unleashed on them by President Robert Mugabe’s militia.
The then security chief in the MDC-T Kisimusi Dhlamini compiled a dossier of such victims and names of perpetrators which he presented to the police but was instead arrested.
Last week Tomana was sentenced to 30 day in prison for refusing to release prosecution certificates for Munyaradzi Kereke a Zanu PF MP who is facing charges of raping a minor girl.
He was given the same sentence for also refusing the prosecution of former Telecel chairperson and Jane Mutasa who defraud the telecommunications company $1, 7 million in airtime vouchers.
On Wednesday the state media reported that Tomana was also in trouble for causing the acquittal of Charles Nherera, the former Zupco board chairperson after he was convicted and sentenced for two years.
Tomana and Nherera had worked together at the state enterprise where the he (Tomana) was the company’s legal advisor before the latter committed the crime.
In a statement Wednesday Biti said Tomana must be pressed to compile dockets for the June 2008 political violence perpetrators.
“Tomana refused to act on evidence produced by victims of that year’s political violence, to investigate and compel the police to open criminal dockets to claims the victims made of kidnappings, assault, injuries that were perpetrated by known state security agents and the Zanu PF militia ,”said Biti.

Grace Mugabe Mocked By School Kids

“Grace Stripped In Public”
A self revealing video of First Lady Grace Mugabe attacking her critics has opened a can of worms on her.
Grace “stripped herself naked” and the kids watching all her misdemeanour could not help but laugh at her,
“As the video shows in full for everyone, she continues speaking totally oblivious that the crowd is having a laughing bash at her” analyst Farai Matare narrates saying.
Matare’s statement refers to Grace’s address before a crowd of women recorded on live video by ZANU PF’s own broadcaster, ZBC. In the clip she attacks journalists calling them “uneducated stupid fools” who need to go back to school.
As she lashes at journos, kids and young women sitting in the crowd begin grinning, and in no time break into riotous laughter.
Totally oblivious to what is taking place, Grace continues in rage of fury saying,
“I want to tell these uneducated and stupid fools working as journalists to go back to school and learn about protocol…

“I am the first lady of this country and the mother of this country and that makes me the second most senior person in the country. The journalists cannot go around saying I am belittling Vice President Mphoko, we are following protocol.”
Grace further tells the crowd that as the President’s wife she has a duty to go around the country to meet the people and hear all their concerns and share them with the President.
“I cannot go and just sit at statehouse and do my nails while people are starving. It’s my duty as the mother of the nation to go out and see things for myself and advise the president accordingly and no one will stop me not even these silly journalists,” she says.
“We want to read your newspapers but we can’t because of the silly little stories and pictures you publish about us,” she continues.

BLOODBATH – Zhuwao to Beat Up Mnangagwa Aide

President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and one of the key leaders of the secret G-40 grouping, Patrick Zhuwao, has threatened to beat up a vice President Emerson Mnangagwa aide.
Zhuwao made the threats during the launch of the launch of the $10 million Youth Fund in Harare Wednesday, where he was tasked to introduce Tabeta Malinga Kanengoni the Minister of State in vice President Phelekezela Mphoko’s office.
No Tuesday, a youth grouping linked to Mnangagwa the Zimbabwe Youth Action Platform, said it was going to humiliate the G-40 team which include Zhuwao Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, politburo member Jonathan Moyo and Zhuwao in public.
The Mnangagwa sponsored youths said the three were also disrespecting war veterans and needed to be disciplined.
“You have not been sent by war veterans, do not come tell me that you have been sent by war veterans, if they are genuine war veterans they will come and speak to me as they have always done.
“Do not think that you can come here and threaten me especially at a press conference; if you are courageous come here and I will deal with you.
The Mnangagwa allies said they will bar the G-40 from attending state factions including the National Heroes Acre.
“You say you will not allow me to visit the Heroes Acre where my mother Sabina was buried, are you serious?,” lashed Zhuwao.
“Go back and tell those who you are representing that they should come here to me and I will deal with them,” he said.
Zhuwayo, Kasukuwere, Moyo and Philip Chiyangwa are pushing for Grace Mugabe to succeed her 92 year old husband President Robert Mugabe.
They are fighting against Mnangagwa and Chris Mutsvangwa who lead another faction.

WARNING-DISTURBING PICTURES: Headmaster Kills Self After ‘Stealing’ $6,000 School Cash

A 61-year-old Bikita school headmaster was found on Monday hanging from a tree in an apparent suicide, three days after government auditors discovered that $6,000 was missing from the school. Masvingo deputy provincial education director Andrew Chikwange confirmed the death of Kushingirira High School headmaster Abel Mupfavi, but could not give further details.
“We’re seized with the matter as we speak but we don’t have more details. It’s a sad scenario,” said Chikwange. Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said he was yet to receive a report on the matter yesterday. However, a teacher at the school who spoke on condition of anonymity said Mupfavi, of Chidumira village under Chief Mukanganwi was found hanging from a tree in a bush, some few kilometres from the school, three days after the audit.
He said two days before his body was found, Mupfavi left the school under the pretext of going to Masvingo town. The teacher claimed that Mupfavi’s pockets contained a resignation letter and some leave forms. He said his body was taken to Silveira Mission Hospital mortuary.
“On Friday last week, auditors from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary education visited the school after which they carried an audit on school books.
“They then discovered some money amounting to $6,000 was missing from the school coffers and Mupfavi could not explain it,” said a teacher who asked not to be named for professional reasons. He said the case involving the missing funds was reported to the police but no one was picked in connection with the matter.
Mupfavi is said to have used a wire to commit suicide. “It remains a mystery why he decided to take his life as no one had fingered him over the missing money. “There was no suicide note on his body, only a resignation letter and leave forms were the only documents found on him,” he added.-State Media

Tomana Caught Dodging Another Prosecution

State Media-Prosecutor-General Mr Johannes Tomana is at the centre of another storm for allegedly abusing the court process to rubber-stamp the acquittal of former Zupco board chairman, Professor Charles Nherera, who was charged with corruption.
The abuse reportedly occurred at the time when Mr Tomana was the Attorney General. Prof Nherera was acquitted by the High Court in November 2009, barely a year after Mr Tomana was appointed to the post of then AG.
He had served a two-year prison term. Following his acquittal, Prof Nherera sued businessman Mr Jayesh Shah for malicious prosecution and demanded damages to the tune of $400 000.
But Mr Shah, through his lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri, applied for absolution from the instance.
Justice Nicholas Mathonsi, in a judgment delivered yesterday, accepted Adv Uriri’s argument that Prof Nherera was “crucified and resurrected by the same office”, and allowed the application.
Mr Tomana invoked provisions of Section 35 of the High Court Act to quash Prof Nherera’s conviction. Under the Act, the quashing of an appeal is made upon the prosecution consenting to the appeal.
“This is a notice that was given by an Attorney-General’s Office under the leadership of someone very close to the case,” said Justice Mathonsi.
The judge noted in his judgment that Prof Nherera was convicted by the criminal court. The conviction, he said, was supported by the prosecution on three separate occasions when Prof Nherera escalated his effort to secure his liberty.
The court noted that Mr Tomana, who is now the PG, was the legal advisor to zupco, which was involved in the criminal prosecution of Prof Nherera at the time, as well as his legal representative in addition to being a board member of zupco.
Further, Justice Mathonsi noted that Mr Tomana testified in defence of Prof Nherera during trial and made it clear that he had no case to answer.
“Despite his spirited efforts, plaintiff was still found guilty and sentenced aforesaid,” he said.
Justice Mathonsi said Mr Tomana was elevated to the position of the then AG in 2008 and when Prof Nherera’s appeal came to the High Court in 2009, he was now in charge of prosecutions.
He said what made the case exceptional was the fact that at the trial court, the prosecution was successful.
The failure, he noted, came at the appeal stage when the State decided to make an about-turn and refused to support the conviction, depriving the appeal court a chance to make its own view on the merits of the appeal.
“The concession came as a surprise because the prosecution had, prior to that, strenuously opposed the appeal on the basis that it was devoid of any merit. The prosecution successfully argued that point before the trial magistrate when bail pending appeal was sought. It also succeeded before the High Court when bail was launched. An effort by plaintiff at the Supreme Court was also successfully repelled by the prosecution.”
Justice Mathonsi also made a finding that even before Prof Nherera was charged, Mr Tomana had in his capacity as a board member made up his mind about the former’s guilty or otherwise.
The judge said Mr Tomana in his capacity as Prof Nherera’s legal counsel sued Mr Shah on behalf of Prof Nherera in HC157/06 for defamation.
“Now as the Attorney-General his office was tasked to defend the interest of the State and protect a conviction the State had fought tooth and nail to accomplish,” he said.
Justice Mathonsi said justice should not only be done but should be seen to be done in this case.
“It cannot be seen to be done in the circumstances under which the appeal was conceded.”
He said for the appeal to proceed in terms of Section 35 of the High Court Act (Chapter 7: 06) it relies on the notice given by the Attorney-General that he does not support the appeal. The judge said the section of the Act did not provide what the judge “should do when he or she does not agree with the notice”.
But then the notice, said the judge, was given by someone very close to the case and who should not have participated at all.
“Accordingly, the involvement of Tomana in that process has tainted the outcome of the appeal to the extent the requirement that the prosecution must have failed cannot be said to have been satisfied.”
In his case, Prof Nherera, who was represented by Adv Thembinkosi Magwaiba, claimed Mr Shah maliciously caused his arrest, prosecution and imprisonment on unfounded corruption charges.
He wanted $100 000 for malicious prosecution and $300 000 for malicious arrest and detention.
Prof Nherera was in 2006 jailed for two years effective for corruption and after completing his sentence, the High Court heard his appeal and quashed the conviction.
He was being charged for allegedly soliciting for a bribe from Mr Shah, who operated Gift Investments, so that his company could be awarded a tender to supply Mazda Swaraj buses to zupco. herald

Paul Gundani Dies

RIP Paul Gundani
RIP Paul Gundani

Former Warriors defence legend, Paul Gundani died in his home town of Kwekwe Wednesday after a short illness, throwing Zimbabwe’s football family into mourning.
The former Lancashire Steel player was the current secretary general of the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) at the time of his death.
FUZ head of finance and administration, Marlene Gadzirayi, says she was shocked to hear of her mentor’s death.
Nicknamed Nsimbi (metal) by his colleagues in soccer because of his physical strength, Gundani was a regular on VOA Studio 7 shows where he passionately spoke about the need to clean Zimbabwe’s football of corruption.
He was passionate about the welfare of footballers in the country and also was unhappy with what he said were ‘pathetic’ soccer administrators in the country who were failing to run the sport.
“It’s such a great loss to the football family and the Gundani family,” said Gadzirayi. “He was unwell for a few days and the next thing he’s gone.”
“We have really been robbed of a great legend, a great teacher. He helped me to understand more about football and not just sit behind a desk and do the union’s figures as the accountant. He would teach me how to represent players.”
Gundani was a key player in the mighty Reinhard Fabisch Dream Team of the 1990s that saw the popularity team rising in the country.
He played alongside the likes former Coventry and Highlanders forward Peter Ndlovu and other Dream Team legends who have since passed on, including Francis Shonhayi, Mercedes Rambo Sibanda, Willard Mashinkila Khumalo, Benjamin Konjera and Adam Ndlovu.
Gundani also played for Stockport in England. Mourners are gathered at his Kwekwe home. Burial arrangements are still to be announced.VOA

Arrested Journalists Given Bail $100

Three journalists from The Sunday Mail, arrested Monday for publishing an article alleging a senior police officer was involved in poaching activities, posted $100 bail each Wednesday after the State failed to provide compelling reasons to keep them in custody.tmp_11952-F64903BC-F590-4191-BDF3-0222604707D5_w300_r1_s-805607094
In granting them bail, Magistrate Tendai Mahwe ordered Sunday Mail editor, Mabasa Sasa, Investigations Editor Brian Chitemba and reporter Tinashe Farawo, not to interfere with police investigations, reside at their recorded home addresses and report to the police once week until 27 November when their case will be heard.
Their lawyer, James Muzangaza, was elated by the Magistrate’s ruling to free his clients on bail.
“We are obviously excited by the ruling. We were confident that they were going to be granted bail because the charges, as laid out by the State, were wishy washy,” said Muzangaza.
He said h’s proceeding to challenge the constitutionality of the Criminal Law Codification Act, under which the journalists were charged.
MISA-Zimbabwe national chairman, Kumbirai Mafunda, attended the hearing. He says the ruling confirms what the media watchdog has always said were frivolous charges being brought against journalists by the state.
“This goes to confirm what we had said as MISA-Zimbabwe that this was just persecution of these journalists,” said Mafunda. “We are happy about the ruling, especially when we now have a trend developing of journalists being targeted for doing their work.”
National Assembly media and information portfolio committee member, Nelson Chamisa, said it is sad that journalism profession in the country is being criminilised.
The three journalists’ case attracted the attention of colleagues from both the private and public media who thronged the courts Monday in solidarity.
Herald Editor Ceaser Zvayi and senior editors from the Zimpapers group and their reporters, Daily News Editor, Stanely Gama and dozens of reporters from various newspapers, local and international organizations were also in attendance as were MISA officials and Zimbabwe Union of Journalists executive members.
Meanwhile, another Zimpapers Editor, Takunda Mawodza, was yesterday arrested for allegedly asking for a bribe from wealthy businessman Sam Levy. Mawodza was investigating a story in which he alleged Levy was financially bankrolling former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s People First.VOA

Benjani Shoots for ZIFA VP

For ZIFA job...Benjani Mwaruwari...
For ZIFA job…Benjani Mwaruwari…
State Media -FORMER Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari has settled for the Zifa vice-president post because of age restrictions.
He will battle it out with three other heavyweights — ex-FC Platinum president Nathan Shoko, former Zifa vice-president and Bulawayo businessman Omega Sibanda and Jabulani Nkomo, son of the late former Vice-President of Zimbabwe, John Nkomo.
Mwaruwari (38) had indicated his willingness to contest the biggest job in Zimbabwean football, but it has emerged he is ineligible for the Zifa presidency because of the age limit.
According to the Zifa constitution, aspiring presidential candidates should be at least 40 years old.
Based on that constitutional technicality, Mwaruwari, who had picked up two nomination forms at the Zifa offices yesterday, now targets the number two position, which has no age limit.
Constitutional requirements that one should have served in an administrative post for at least five years could also hinder Mwaruwari’s bid to contest in the December 5 election.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela could not confirm particular names of people that had bought forms by yesterday.
He, however, said quite a number had picked up forms for various positions.
“What I can confirm is that a number of aspiring candidates have picked up forms for various positions. Nominations close on Thursday (tomorrow), with the vetting of the candidates set for Saturday,” Gwesela said.
Also in the race for the post of board members are Warriors team manager Shariff Mussa and retired referee Wilfred Mukuna.
The entry of the duo, however, complicates the strategy of regional chairpersons who had formed an alliance where they agreed that they should contest the positions of board members.
Informed sources said regional chairpersons met in Harare at the weekend where they discussed the candidates they wanted to back at the elections to choose a new leadership to take over from the Cuthbert Dube administration, which was booted out last month.
It is said Shoko’s name was discussed after he indicated his willingness to contest.
The sources said since Sibanda had also indicated his willingness to bounce back as the number two in the mother body, they couldn’t agree on which candidate to back come election day.
While the regions had no problem endorsing Harare businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, who has already hit the ground running in his bid to land the biggest job in Zimbabwean football, they were split between Shoko and Sibanda.
In the end, the matter was put to vote and Shoko was more popular than Sibanda.
However, there was a strong feeling from the regional chairpersons that Sibanda should have been backed since he has been fighting “in the trenches for a long time” and was one of the key figures alongside former board member for finance Bernard Gwarada who were instrumental in the vote of no-confidence passed on ex-Zifa president Dube on October 3.
“There was no consensus on the aspiring two vice-presidents Nathan Shoko and Omega Sibanda. Some felt that Sibanda should be backed since he has been in the trenches for a long time and was a key figure in the expulsion of Dube. The matter was then put to a vote and Shoko won with eight votes, while Sibanda polled six votes. It was then agreed that the two should go out and campaign for themselves,” the source, who requested anonymity, said.
Chiyangwa has said Sibanda will be his running mate.
The sources added that it was also agreed by the regions at the same meeting that regional chairpersons should contest for the post of board members.
They agreed that the 16 delegates from the regions should all vote for the four chairpersons to boost their chances of claiming places in the board.
Even if each of them were to get 16 votes from the regions, they would still need more to get the 50% required for one to win the election.
The regions have 16 votes from the 58 delegates that will converge next month to elect the Zifa president, the deputy and three other board members.
There are two seats reserved for Women Football and the Premier Soccer League in the Zifa executive committee.
A number of names, headlined by Chiyangwa, have indicated their willingness to contest for the post of Zifa president.
Former Warriors defender James Takavada is one of the candidates that have shown interest in the post.
Former Harare City Football Club chairman Leslie Gwindi, ex-Zifa president Trevor Carlse Juul and former Dynamos chairman Temba Mliswa are also thought to be interested in the post.

Grace Mugabe Dislodges Mnangagwa in Masvingo

By Tinoonga Mawere| Masvingo| The First Lady Grace Mugabe, who will be in Masvingo this Friday, is expected to purge elements sympathetic to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The versatile Zanu PF Women’s League boss has virtually expressed interest in succeeding her ailing husband-President Robert Mugabe.
Grace Mugabe is expected to address a no holds meeting at a local hotel before addressing a rally at Mucheke Stadium. Party insiders said the First Lady was on a mission to purge all party members thought to be sympathetic to Mnangagwa ahead of the party congress.
Mnangagwa is seen as a stumbling block towards her ascendancy. A senior provincial member said the battle to succeed the veteran 91 year old Mugabe who seems tired to go for another term, had intensified ahead of the congress scheduled for December-since the First Lady wanted to weed out Mnangagwa sympathisers in all the 10 provinces across the country.”
The First Lady is expected to announce a raft of changes.
Ousted chairman Paradzai Chakona who was booted out by the Mnangagwa camp after being branded a Gamatox member is likely to bounce back. Mnangagwa allies holding key posts will be demoted to less influential positions. There will be a major shake up here on Friday. Dr Amai will also address a meeting on the same day,” said the provincial member.
According to party sources the First Lady will parcel out food items and farming equipment to party sympathisers – while ordinary Zimbabweans watch from a distance. Masvingo province has a history of perennial food shortages but it is understood the versatile politician has no tangible solution for the recurring food shortages.
She has also remained mum on the issue of unemployment and instead chose to propagate the ZimAsset programme seen by many as cosmetic, aimed at “cheaply” appeasing party loyalists.

‘Gumbura Feeds Prison Bosses’

Feeding jail guards? Robert Gumbura
Feeding jail guards? Robert Gumbura

Jailed RMG Independent End Time Message church leader Robert Martin Gumbura is reportedly still influential even behind bars after revelations that he was feeding prison officers at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison where he is locked up.
The disclosures were made by a former police detective, State witness Claudius Mutizwa, while testifying against Gumbura and eight others who are facing fresh charges of attempting to escape from prison before magistrate Francis Mapfumo.
Mutizwa said Gumbura was the most popular person at the prison and prison officers were actually getting tea from him.
“The first accused person (Gumbura) is regarded as the Godfather even the prison officers sometimes get tea from him,” Mutizwa said.
Asked by State counsel Michael Reza on whether Gumbura was aware of the planned chaos that ensued when prisoners attempted to escape, Mutizwa said he was indeed aware and he was asked to call him by one Senior Prison Officer (SPO) Chikudo, who informed him that the plan was being aborted.
Mutizwa said Gumbura was “frustrated” when he was told the plan was being suspended and he insisted that they go ahead.
“On March 13, 2015, I was asked by SPO Chikudo, who is attached to the reception, to call Gumbura and I did likewise. The place of the conversation was the library. He advised the first accused that the mission had been aborted,” Mutizwa said.
He said Gumbura then queried that it was too late for the mission to be aborted as the “other guys were in separate sections and were already demonstrating”. He said prisoners were singing political songs and some were denouncing him labelling him (Mutizwa) a traitor as he had refused to work with them.
Mutizwa told the court that the plan had been that the prisoners, had they escaped, were to proceed to Support Unit where they would get guns as well as Morris Depot, while they were co-ordinating with one Albert Matapo, an ex-convict they were working with.
“There were some people who were outside who were supposed to facilitate the operation. One of them was Albert Matapo. They wanted to incorporate me in this, but I refused,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mapfumo made a ruling on the accused’s applications to stop prison officers from abusing them and to protect them from physical abuse or threats and the application was granted.
“The court orders the State to investigate the issues raised through the police who should also report back to this court on its findings by Friday this week,” Mapfumo said.
The magistrate added: “Prisons are ordered to stop serving inmates with dirty cups and plates.”
The magistrate also ordered the prosecutor to investigate allegations that prison officers were interfering with Mutizwa as well as that the accused prisoners were being made to wear garb meant for condemned criminals.-Newsday

Witchcraft, Satanism on Zanele’s Body – Chiyangwa

Harare businessman and friend of Professor Jonathan Moyo, Phillip Chiyangwa, claims the Higher Education Minister’s daughter Zanele’s body had witchraft concoctions done on it before being handed to the parents.
Chiyangwa forwards this postulation as it emerged that her body was released incomplete the heart for instance having been taken out.
Moyo’s daughter, Zanele, was buried without a heart, The State Media reports. Just days after Zanele was laid to rest in Harare, the Higher and Tertiary Education Minister’s family has been plunged into fresh agony following the disclosure.
A crack team of Zimbabwean detectives probing the student’s death last month in Cape Town broke the news to the minister and his family last week following a second post-mortem conducted in Harare.
President Mugabe and Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko have called for an urgent and thorough investigation into the 20-year-old’s tragic death.
Sources close to the investigation say the family is “extremely distressed” by the findings of Dr Gabriel Alviero Gonzalez and Dr Tsungai Victor Javangwe, both forensic pathologists at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, who conducted a post-mortem examination of Zanele’s body on October 22.
The post-mortem, conducted at the insistence of the family which suspects foul play in Zanele’s death, was the second following another conducted by Dr Sipho Mfolozi at the Salt River Forensic Pathology Laboratory in Cape Town on October 19.
Zimbabwean investigators now believe Zanele’s heart was removed by pathologists during the autopsy in Cape Town and never placed back inside her body before it was released to her family.
Zanele’s body was found lying face-down in the bathroom of her third floor Cape Town apartment on October 17.
She was buried at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare on October 23, but the family was only told of the discovery of the missing heart days later after Dr Gonzalez and Dr Javangwe handed their findings to the Criminal Investigations Department, which is leading the Zimbabwe investigation.
Salt River Forensic Pathology Laboratory manager Wayne Mitten declined to comment, after earlier requesting questions to be sent to him through e-mail.
Constable Noloyiso Rwexana, a spokesperson for Western Cape Police, responding to e-mailed questions over their investigation into Zanele’s death, said: “Kindly be advised that this office is not in a position to give you a comment at this stage as the investigation is yet to be finalised.”
Zimbabwe’s national police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said: “It must be understood that the investigation into Zanele’s death is being conducted by South African police. We don’t have extra territorial jurisdiction but what we’re doing is to assist our colleagues in South Africa. They’re best positioned to comment on the issues you’re raising.”
Zimbabwean investigators have ordered rape, toxicology, histology as well as alcohol and drug tests from samples obtained from Zanele’s body during the second post-mortem in their bid to establish what caused her death.
Zanele’s missing heart has disturbed seasoned doctors who described it as “unheard of”.
Dr Solwayo Ngwenya, the clinical director at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo, said: “I’ve never heard of a whole body part that is removed and not placed back.
“The only time that a whole body part is removed and not taken back is when it’s used for teaching purposes or for organ donation and of course this is always done with the consent of relatives of the dead person.”
Dr Solwayo, who has been practising for 19 years, explained that when a post-mortem examination is carried out, small amounts of tissue samples are taken from body parts such as the brain, liver, heart, kidney and bowels.
“The tiny samples are put in a small container with water and taken to the lab for the autopsy. It’s almost impossible to see that any body part has been tampered with because the tissue samples are tiny. Every body part should be just as it was before the examination,” he said.
Prof Moyo declined to comment, but family friend Philip Chiyangwa said: “We can’t wrap our heads around what has just happened. We’re still trying to unravel what killed Zanele, and now we must worry about who took her heart and for what reason?”
He said they were battling with several possible scenarios, including negligence by the Salt River Laboratory, an attempt to conceal evidence or even witchcraft.
Described by her sister, Lungile, as a “very happy person who loved to make people laugh” and “very wise for her age”, Zanele was a second-year student at the University of Cape Town and lived off campus.
Her friend Nicole Bento last saw her on Wednesday, October 14, at her apartment.
She was in the company of a Zambian man, Stephen Kenneth Newman Chitobolo (29).
Nicole has told investigators that Chitobolo — whom she had earlier observed smoking cannabis — called her at about 9pm on that same day and said Zanele was “passing out”. He claimed he was leaving for Zambia because his father had died.
Nicole, a high school friend of Zanele’s, was unable to go over to her friend’s apartment because her mother had visited.
She tried to reach Zanele on Thursday and Friday without success until Saturday, October 17, when Zanele’s mother, Beatrice, called from Zimbabwe and instructed her to find a locksmith and get inside the apartment.
Zanele’s door had been locked from inside. On finding her, she was dead and lying in a pool of blood. The building’s caretaker, it is said, pulled Zanele’s body along the floor leaving a trail of blood smear on the bathroom floor.
A small amount of cannabis was also found in one room.
It remains unclear if Cape Town police have been able to interview Chitobolo, who is thought to be the last person to see Zanele alive.
Zanele’s family, according to Chiyangwa, believes Chitobolo holds the answers in solving the mystery of her death.
Investigators in Cape Town have, however, told the family that results of toxicology tests can take up to six years – by which time if criminality is established, it could be near impossible to find suspects and witnesses.
The Salt River Laboratory receives between 10 and 15 bodies daily – around 3 300 bodies a year. This explains the inordinate amount of time it takes to get toxicology test results, a state of paralysis that has made Cape Town an attractive destination for “murder tourism”.
Zanele’s family has also expressed concerns with the police investigation in South Africa after they neglected to ask the laboratory to establish the time of death, which resulted in October 17 – the day her body was found – being listed in her death certificate as the day she died. The fact that when her body was found she was dressed in the clothes she was last seen wearing on October 14, according to her family, makes the conclusion that she died on October 17 an absurdity.
Top Harare lawyer Terrence Hussein, who accompanied Prof Moyo to Cape Town to bring Zanele’s body home, said last week: “It would’ve been better to ascertain [the time of death] scientifically. It gives you an accurate picture of what took place and also when connecting individuals to a scene.
“Now, if you want to question people they can simply escape by saying they weren’t there when Zanele died. You literally immunise all suspects, you give a defence. It’s inconsistent with the strict requirements of a criminal investigation, which this one is.”-State Media, Chronicle

Zanu PF MP In Messy Divorce

Zanu PF Hurungwe West legislator Keith Guzah has been divorced by his wife of 24 years Zandile Guzah (nee Maseko) for being promiscuous and violent.
In court papers the couple filed with the High court seeking for divorce, Zandile says Guzah was promiscuous ,a drug abuser and a violent father even to the children.
She also says Guzah has been selling most of their matrimonial properties and beating up their four grown up children.
Zandile wants the properties which include a 115-hectare farm which they acquired together during their marriage.
Some of the properties they acquired include Number 2460 Egypt, Highfield and the 115-Carlton Curlicue Farm and other properties in Mount Pleasant, Mandara and Avondale in Harare.
Zandile further seeks a maintenance order to the tune of US$1 500 per month for her upkeep as well as the fees for two of their children who are at university in China.
The two separated in 2008.

Tariff Evils:Cellphone Companies Plead with Govt to Reverse

Zimbabwe’s telecoms operators are pushing for the reversal of a government sanctioned tariff cut which they say has seen the sector’s revenue fall by as much as 14 percent and the fiscus lose $120 million in taxes.
The industry regulator Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) in December last year the operators to cut their voice tariffs to 15 cents per minute from 23 cents after adopting a new pricing model.
It abandoned the COSITU pricing framework – an International Telecommunications Union’s model for the determination of costs and tariffs (including interconnection and accounting rates) for telephone services – in favour of a long run incremental cost (LRIC) model, which saw a 35 percent reduction in voice tariffs.
The tariff is expected to come down further to nine cents per minute in 2016.
In an industry position paper by the four players — Econet Wireless, Telecel Zimbabwe, Telone and NetOne — to government, the operators said traffic across industry had declined despite the reduction in tariffs resulting in revenue falling drastically.
“The prevailing economic decline and tight regulatory environment have resulted in subdued performance of the telecoms industry. The introduction of the LRIC in December 2014 has exacerbated this decline with revenues falling 14,2 percent from Q4 2014 to Q1 2015,” the telcos said.
They proposed a cut of between 10 and 15 percent from the November 2014 tariff, adding that the 35 percent reduction had seen government miss out on $120 million in VAT.
“The impact on VAT revenues is that $19 million less per quarter is being remitted to the fiscus and an estimated $40 million less per year in corporate income tax. This results in $120 million lower annual contribution.”
Among other recommendations, the operators requested government to completely scrap off the five percent duty on airtime and 25 percent duty on handsets introduced by government last year. – The Source

BREAKING NEWS -Police Charge Sunday Mail Journalists With Criminal Defamation

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have charged the  Sunday editor Mabasa Sasa,  and his two reporters Tinashe Farawo and Brian Chitemba with contravening Section 31 (a) (ii) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23) for allegedly publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the State.
According to their lawyer, Tuesday, the journalists are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
The scribes were arrested on Monday after they had published in the weekly a story which fingered top police in the killing of elephants at Hwange National Park.
The police claimed that the journalists published or communicated false statements with the intention or realising that there is a real risk or possibility of adversely affecting the defence or economic interests of Zimbabwe.
THE Zimbabwe National Editors Forum (Zinef) acting chairperson Njabulo Ncube condemned the arrests saying they are barbaric.
“We urge the police to investigate and not to arrest in order to investigate. It is unhelpful and smacks of repression to arrest editors and journalists on issues that are not criminal but is part of their legitimate work, in this particular case, to expose the rot in our society,” said Ncube.
“The police must not cover up for its failures to protect Zimbabwe’s wildlife by threatening the media”.
“There are better and more civilised ways of dealing with such cases than arresting and detaining journalists, for instance, the police could have lodged a complaint with the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe, or sought to engage the editor and his staff for the right of reply ostensibly to set the record straight.

Mnangagwa Barmy Abuses State Buses

Zanu PF Chegutu East law maker Dexter Nduna has been dragged to the courts by the

Zimbabwe United Passenger Company Limited (ZUPCO)  for failing to pay  US$25 000 he owed the  struggling state enterprise for hiring  27 buses he used  during his 2013 election campaign.
ZUPCO filed summons at the High Court claiming US$25 000 allegedly arising from the hiring of buses by Nduna between June and July 2013.
ZUPCO alleges that Nduna requested for 27 buses which he intended to use for transport purposes during his campaigns.
Nduna was expected to pay the hiring fees which varied from trip to trip depending on the distance covered but failed.
Court papers say on the 24th of June 2013, Nduna allegedly hired six buses for Chegutu constituency for a total cost of US$8 000 before hiring six more buses for a rally in Chinhoyi for a total cost of US$9 000 on the 18th of June 2013.
On the 25th of July 2013, he hired seven buses in Chegutu and on the 31st of July 2013, he hired eight buses.
For the 27 buses, he hired he was charged US$34 000 but allegedly paid US$9200 only, leaving a balance of almost US$25 000.
ZUPCO seeks the outstanding US$25 000 plus interest at the prescribed rate of five percent per annum with effect from date of demand until date of payment in full plus costs of the law suit.

Grace Mugabe Theft Causes Zimra Cash Revenues Nosedive

Following First Lady Grace Zimbabwe’s illegal take-over of seized Zimra goods which she donated to Manicaland dwellers, the tax agency, the government body says revenue collections have since nosedived.
As Mrs Mugabe now faces parliament grilling over her misconduct, Zimra says revenue collections in the quarter to September were $878,2 million, nine percent below the targeted $964 million.
The southern African country finances its entire budget through taxes and multilateral lenders like the International Monetary Fund and World Bank have said they will only resume supporting Zimbabwe once it clears its debts with the global lenders, possibly at some point next year.
The government in July lowered revenue projection to $3,76 billion from $3,99 billion in acknowledgement of the flatlining economy and revised economic growth projections to 1,5 percent from the initial 3,2 percent. The budget deficit is seen at $400 million.
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) on Monday said the quarterly collections were lower than $884 million tax revenue achieved during the same period last year as key tax heads, especially mining royalties and corporate tax underperformed.
The bulk of the revenue was realised from individual tax, excise duty and Value Added Tax (VAT) on local sales which contributed 22 percent, 20 percent and 16 percent respectively.
Mining royalties at $17 million were 55 percent below target. Year on year, the sector’s contribution fell 47 percent from $33,12 million in 2014.
Corporate tax contributed $85,14 million of total revenue against a target $124 million.
“The performance of the revenue head (corporate tax) was dampened by reduced margins as the local companies felt the heat from competing imports. Company closures also continued to depress the revenue head,” said board chair Willia Bonyongwe.
Outstanding corporate tax income as at 30 September was $402 million. Tax forgone through tax incentives amounted to $5,17 million.
Revenue collections from VAT on imports for the quarter were $116 million, surpassing the $104,9 million target.
Net VAT on local sales amounted to $136,2 million against a target of $161 ,1 million.
Customs duty at $89,3 million was 11 percent below target while excise duty amounted to $176,2 million against a targeted $151 million.
Excise duty on fuel was the main contributor to the segment at 78 percent. Excise duty on beer and airtime contributed eight and five percent respectively.
Cumulatively, net revenue collections as at 30 September amounted to $2,5 billion.-The Source

Zhuwao Vows to Protect Ghost Workers

  • 20 workers operate in each ward

By Tinoonga Mawere | Masvingo Controversial politician and Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Patrick Zhuwao has declared ghost workers in his ministry will remain at work despite mounting pressure to flush out shadowy civil servants.
Impeccable sources at the ministry’s provincial offices here revealed Zhuwao who is President Robert Mugabe’s nephew, was in Masvingo recently and addressed a closed-door meeting where he reportedly vowed to shield all ghost workers in the ministry.
The government is under pressure from local and international financial institutions -including IMF to cut the number of civil servants in order to get monetary aid. The majority of the ghost workers in the youth ministry are Zanu PF activists being rewarded for campaigning for the ruling party in the past elections.
Zhuwao was reportedly addressing the grievances experienced by the Zanu PF activists who work as ward officers in the ministry since they were afraid of losing their jobs. The treasury is struggling to pay civil servants mainly because of a large salary bill and some government workers including teachers have gone for several months without pay.
A youth officer who spoke to ZimEye.com yesterday said Zhuwao said all ghost workers in the ministry would get maximum protection. “The minister(Zhuwao) …told us everything is under control and nobody will be sacked.
He said the whole issue is about the role played in the past elections .”

Although the Provincial Youth Ministry head identified as Mr Machako could not be reached for comment, insiders insist Zhuwao was in Masvingo to address some grievances.
The Youth Ministry reportedly harbours the highest number of ghost workers and up to 20 workers operate in each ward .The treasury is battling to cope with the high number of civil servants but Zhuwao’ s declaration indicates government’s lack of commitment towards purging ghost workers, analysts say.
Thousands of civil servants have even failed to receive their monthly salaries in the past months.

Cop’s Wife Supplies Guns And Supervises Robbers

A police officer’s wife yesterday was dragged to court together with three armed robbers whom she is accused of supplying her husband’s uniforms and firearms while acting as their manager. Silethokuhle Nare (37) is jointly charged with Dominic Tichaona (35), Jabulani Nyoni (33), Wonder Mahuni (36), David Hausi (37) and Justice Ndlovu (33). They are facing armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearm charges.
Magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe remanded them in custody to November 9 for trial. Prosecutor Ms Sharon Mashavira alleged that sometime in October, Tichaona, Nyoni, Mahuni and Nare arranged with accomplices William Vry and Dennis Musochera to rob Charity Mbanje. Nare allegedly knew that Mbanje was to receive $14 000 between October 6 and 9 from members of a social round table club.
They hatched a plan. Nare allegedly stole two sets of her husband’s police uniforms and gave them to Musochera and Nyoni. It is alleged that on October 5 Nare showed the suspected armed robbers Mbanje’s house and how to execute their robbery. The following day, the suspected armed robbers pounced on Mbanje wearing police uniforms and armed with an FN pistol while the others wielded knives.

They threatened Mbanje and her family and force-marched her to her bedroom demanding the cash. They stole two Samsung Note 4 cellphones, Mobicel tablet and three cellphones. After failing to get the money, they allegedly locked Mbanje and her family in the house and fled.
On a separate occasion on October 25, Nare provided Tichaona and Mahuni with her Toyota Raum (registration number ADH 0955) to rob Ministry of Justice and Parliamentary Affairs chief accountant Morees Chalasa Mbewe.
Tichaona, Mahuni and Musochera teamed up and proceeded to Mbewe’s neighbourhood armed with an FN Browning pistol, Okapi knife and machete. They allegedly waited for him when he returned home and forced his family to lie down at gunpoint. They threatened to rape his wife and children if he failed to surrender cash.
They stole $2 560 and several valuables worth $1 960. After locking up the family, the accused slashed Mbewe’s vehicle tyres and fled.
Between September 28 and October 26, detectives received information of cases of armed robbers targeting fuel service stations. The information led to the arrest of Musochera, who was in possession of an unlicensed FN Browning pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
He implicated Nare who had obtained the firearm from Wilfred Jaure and Tatenda Gadzikwa. Musochera  lateranaged to escape from Machipisa Police Station custody and went to  with his accomplices and this led to their arrest.
Nare is represented by her lawyer, Mr Tungamirai Chakurira. – State Media

Shona – Ndebele War Continues In Parliament

Furious Members of Parliament from Matabeleland have protested the “ban” of Ndebele in Parliament arguing that it is unacceptable for Ministers to claim they are not conversant with Ndebele which is one of the country’s official languages.  This comes after several occasions when National Assembly Members and Senators who speak Ndebele have been forced to make their contributions in English and now they have complained that this is unfair as their Shona-speaking colleagues are allowed to use their mother language.
Annoyed MPs said since they were being forced to use English, they were doing so in protest. Some MPs and Senators said it was unjust to be forced to contribute and discuss issues in English when Shona-speaking lawmakers were allowed to express themselves better in their own languages.
Recently, Bulawayo Senator Angelina Masuku (Zanu-PF) was forced by Deputy Senate President Chen Chimutengwende to speak in English while posing a question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joram Gumbo.
Chimutengwende said it was improper for Masuku to ask questions in Ndebele since the minister is not a Ndebele. Masuku protested why she was being forced not to use her preferred language.
“Mr President, I will do that in protest because this is a Zimbabwean Parliament and for us as legislators to come here and promote a foreign language and yet we have been voted in by Zimbabwean people phandle laphana besesikhangelana lama ministers (outside there, we would be staring at each saying our ministers) who are Zimbabwean who say they cannot communicate in a Zimbabwean language,” said  Masuku.
“I will do that but in protest and I will request Mr President that our ministers make an effort to be truly Zimbabweans.” Matabeleland South proportional representation MP Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga has faced the same problem s everal times, when she was ordered to speak in English, the most recent time being last Wednesday.
During the National Assembly’s question and answer session, the legislator asked the Minister of Energy and Power Development  Mr Samuel Undenge a question, but the Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda ordered her to use English.

“I will just agree, but, it’s painful. I understand Mr Speaker but others speak in Shona and it’s never a problem,” said Misihairabwi-Mushonga.
Misihairabwi-Mushonga told The Chronicle that Parliament should employ translators if it wants to solve the issue of free language expression in the legislature. She said what was surprising was that some ministers who were saying they could not speak Ndebele went to school in Matabeleland.
Mishairabwi-Mushonga said some Ministers were deliberately refusing to speak in Ndebele because they did not want to accommodate other languages. “I have insisted that I will speak in Ndebele and I have realised that some of the Ministers now try responding in Ndebele,” she said.
The legislator said as a matter of principle, ministers should be able to communicate in all indigenous languages. She cited Canadian system of governance saying ministers serving in the government speak French although English is the main language. Mr Mudenda brushed aside the whole issue saying parliament does not force Ndebele-speaking legislators to present their questions in English.
“If they ask in Ndebele we only ask them to repeat the question in English. We don’t force them to speak in English and that is done for clarity purposes,” said Mr Mudenda. The country has 16 official languages.
In July, the former Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Obert Mpofu was involved in another language storm when he  responded to a question that was posed in Shona in Ndebele.
Mr Mpofu now the Minister of Macro-economic Planning and Investment Promotion had been quizzed in Shona by Zanu-PF legislator Monica Chigudu on what progress was being made regarding the dualisation of the Harare-Beitbridge Road.
Mr Mpofu responded in Ndebele saying, “Honourable Chigudu ubuze umbuzo oqakathekileyo. Kunzima ukulungisa imigwaqo yonke sikhathi sinye kodwa ngiyathemmbisa ukuthi iMasvingo iyabe siledual road ngesikhathi esifitshane.(Honourable Chugudu you asked a very important question. It’s difficult to fix all roads at once but I promise Masvingo will have a dual carriageway soon).”
After that, Mr Mpofu was told to revert to English for the benefit of other lawmakers. -Chronicle

Grace Mugabe Visiting Magaya: Charamba Denies

Charamba denies on Grace attending Magaya church.
Community reports went aflame on Monday that the First Lady Grace Mugabe is on her way to attend preacher Walter Magaya’s all night prayer meeting on Friday.
This is said to be part of Mrs Mugabe’s presidential campaign as she prepares for the December Congress which is believed to be the President’s last meeting.
She is said to have privately contacted Magaya instructing him to prepare for her attendance.
A South Africa based website quoted “A senior leader” in PHD reportedly confirming the Grace’s attendance to the all night meeting. The source also said that Magaya was hundred percent sure about Grace’s attendance “as he has already shared this information with those close to him”.
He also indicated that preparations are at an advanced stage to receive the first lady, the report further stated.
The source quoted by The HerdBoy is reported indicating that “it is very unfortunate Magaya keeps spreading the news no matter the warnings he had been given by the office of the First Lady not to divulge the information for security reasons”.
But Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba told ZimEye.com, “you should find out from the Prophet not from us.”
“You should go by the Prophet, he is the owner of the church. Government does not go to church does it?!
Charamba said he would not comment on the First Family’s private life when grilled on his job description as the Presidential Spokesman.
“Exactly I do so; (but) I don’t do so in terms of their private activities,” he said.

Economy Tightens, Revenue Collections Below Target : Zimra

The revenue collections in September were $878,2 million, nine percent below the targeted $964 million, and this is due to the economy that is going down fast. The  mining and manufacturing companies struggle, the  Zimbabwe tax agency has said.
The net revenue collections as at 30 September amounted to $2,5 billion. – The Source

Sunday Mail Editors Abducted by ZRP Cops

Mail Editor...Masasa Sasa
Mail Editor…Masasa Sasa

Police have arrested The Sunday Mail editor Mabasa Sasa, investigations editor Brian Chitemba and reporter Tinashe Farawo following the publication of a story in the weekly’s latest edition which alleged that a syndicate comprising police officers, Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers and Asians was behind the latest spate of elephant killings in Hwange National Park.
The three were still detained at Harare Central Police Station last night and police were still to record their warned and cautioned statements. The trio’s lawyer Mr James Muzangaza of Muzangaza, Mandaza and Tomana said the three were arrested for allegedly publishing falsehoods as police claim that they have inquired at all police stations and found no reports of police investigating their members for alleged involvement in poaching activities.
“Initially when I met the officers at Zimpapers (Herald House) they said they wanted the journalists’ cooperation.
“In the afternoon I got the shocking news that they were arrested for refusing to disclose the source of their story. Attempts to have a warned and cautioned statement recorded were futile as the investigating officer said he was in Ruwa and could not record statements after 4.30 pm,” he said.
He said efforts to get assistance from the police legal department were also futile. Zimbabwe Union of Journalists secretary general Mr Foster Dongozi condemned the arrest saying it was the trio’s right to expose the scandal as it was of national importance.
“Why are they arresting the messengers? Why not conduct investigations to see which officials are involved? “The issue of elephant poaching is of national importance. It was their right as journalists to expose the scandal. We condemn these acts of harassment. Police should not be seen anywhere near the newsroom. They should conduct their own internal investigations,” he said.
The story, headlined ‘Top Cop fingered in poaching saga’, alleged that one of the suspects under active investigation was an assistant commissioner in the police force and that several others had been arrested in connection with the killing of 22 jumbos last Sunday. The Sunday Mail further reported that the syndicate has allegedly killed around 55 Jumbos for their ivory tusks since early 2015.
Zimpapers chief executive Pikirayi Deketeke said he did not have the finer details of the case but said it was regrettable that police rushed to arrest the trio without first exhausting internal remedies available.
“I do not have the finer details of the case but the idea of arresting and detaining them without a charge does not augur well. We hope tomorrow we will get the finer details of the case as our lawyers were the last to get in touch with police,” he said.-State Media

Woman Rapes 14yr Old Boy

A 28-year-old woman has appeared in court for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy claiming they are a couple. Precious Sibanda appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Hosea Mujaya charged with two counts of aggravated indecent assault. Mr Mujaya remanded her to today for trial continuation. In her defence, Sibanda told the court that the boy made romantic advances to her by passing flirtatious comments about her.
“We had consensual sex. I did not force him to sleep with me and we used protection both times we had sex. This boy has an insatiable appetite for sex which led me to believe he was of age. The only reason why he ended up reporting the matter was due to pressure he was subjected to by his parents,” she said.
Prosecuting, Mr Ephraim Mujaya alleged that sometime in January this year, Sibanda lured the boy into her room. The court heard that Sibanda forced the boy to have sexual intercourse with her using protection. It is alleged that Sibanda threatened the boy not to say anything concerning the matter.
It is the State’s case that in September Sibanda invited the boy again to her house and forced him to have sex with her, this time without protection. The State further alleged teachers at the boy’s school noticed changes in the boy’s behaviour as he had become withdrawn. They allegedly sent the boy back home so his parents could help him.
The boy revealed to his parents that he had indulged in sex with Sibanda and that it had affected him. The boy’s parents reported the matter to the police leading to Sibanda’s arrest. Meanwhile, a Harare man who absconded court after signing summons acknowledging he would appear before it has been ordered in absentia to stop abusing his wife in any way, reports Ivan Zhakata.
The ruling was granted by Harare Civil Court magistrate Mrs Ruth Kamangira after Andrew Nyakabau failed to come to court. His wife, Ennia Mutambirwa, who was seeking a protection order, told the court that Nyakabau physically and verbally abused her and threatened to kill her. “He assaults me and rebukes me using obscene language and starves me of my conjugal rights. I am afraid of going home because he might kill me as he has made several threats to eliminate me,” Mutambirwa said.
She also told the court that Nyakabau was not buying food for the family. Nyakabau was not present to answer to the allegations although he had signed court papers admitting he was aware of the court case. Mrs Kamangira delivered a default judgment ordering Nyakabau from abusing his wife.

Zanu PF Threatens To Demolish MDC-T Supporters’ Houses

A local Zanu PF councilor for Epworth  has given a one week  ultimatum to hundreds of residents staying at  Pentagon to either vacate their homes or risk losing them  to demolitions.youths
The area has been blacklisted for harbouring MDC-T supporters.
According to Epworth Residents Development Association (ERDA) the councilor  Hasimon Shadaya  at the weekend told the occupants to vacate or risk evictions.
Other than residents of Pentagon ERDA says the local councillor is also targeting 17 residents of Sunway city in the same neighbourhood who he has also threatened with evictions.
“He is leading what  he calls ‘regularization’ process, which involves subdividing existing residential properties/stands,”said the residents’ rights lobby group.
“The targeted 17 homeowners are being accused of mobilizing other residents to resist the subdivisions”.
“All of these 17 victims have lodger’s cards issued by the Local Board and have been paying rates”.

“Parirenyatwa Plotting Coup Against Mugabe”

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association says Health Minister David Parirenyatwa is plotting a coup against President Robert Mugabe by sabotaging his economic blue print ZIMASSET through denying  the promotion of public health.
The doctors who held their Annual General Meeting in Harare at the weekend  said by looting PSMS funds and ignoring concerns of the country’s  medical sector Parirenyatwa wants nurses and doctors to stage massive demonstrations against government and  cause “genocide”  in hospitals.
They said by so doing the Health Minister was working against his boss, President Mugabe who in his economic blue print Zimasset projects political and economic growth and stability.
“Doctors have suffered for a long time and it now time to say no to slavery and the Association will make sure that no doctor will subsidize the government’s failure to attract and retain medical doctors through working extra unpaid hours,” said the ZHDA in a statement.
The doctors resolved that Parirenyatwa should be forced to resign for abuse of office.
“The minister of Health and Child Care David Parirenyatwa must resign over his failure to address issues affecting doctors and as well as the recent PSMAS saga”.
“Doctors will mobilise for a nationwide petition that shall be submitted to parliament to put pressure on Dr Parirenyatwa and his cabal”.

Misihairabwi Mushonga Shoots Welshman Ncube in Coup D’etat?

Controversy-ridden MDC parliamentarian Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga has been secretly endorsed to replace Professor Welshman Ncube.
Impeccable high-ranking officers within the party have revealed to ZimEye.com a secret lobbying paper circulating amongst party members with a proposed new leadership of the party which eliminates Welshman Ncube and replaces him with Misihairabwi Mushonga as President. The proposed new set up is believed to have emanated from the party’s external provinces in South Africa and the United Kingdom and is slowly being sold to the provinces within the country.
When contacted for a comment, party Spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi denied the development ever happening. “It is not true that  Misihairabwi was endorsed by any province, district or ward for the presidency of the MDC.
“Those are thoughts, dreams and wishes of drunkards. There is no vacancy for presidency in the MDC at the moment and those interested can wait until 2016,” he said.
He continued, “we are happy and very safe under the leadership of Professor Welshman Mathonsi Ncube.”

Pulling the Carpet on Ncube
But ZimEye.com is reliably informed Mushonga is set to pull the carpet from under the feet of longtime political ally Ncube on the Presidency at the party’s congress in January next year.
In the proposed paper, Veteran politician David Coltart is listed as Mushonga’s deputy while Moses Mzila comes in as the party Chairman. Miriam Mushayi is listed as the new Secretary General of the party.
Current Vice President Edwin Mushoriwa is listed as second Vice President of the party, a suggestion that the provinces will lobby for an amendment in the constitution as the party constitution does not provide for a second Vice President.
There existed at the time of writing however, some confusion in the list as another circulated stating that Prof Ncube will be the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2018 elections.
Other notable names in the list are Ngqabutho Nicolas Mabhena who is tagged as the party Organising Secretary deputised by a George Mkhwananzi. Allan Shiriyedenga is listed as Treasurer General.
Bekezela Maduma Fuzwayo is proposed as the new party Spokesperson.
The list leaves out several regular names in the MDC in what the sources called a major clean up of the party.
“The party has been holding on to deadwood for a long time and it’s time a major clean up is done to build a party for the future,” said the source.
Misihairabwi Mushonga has been very controversial in the party with some members of the party recently calling for her dismissal.
She resigned from her post of party Secretary General under unclear circumstances claiming to wanted to remain as just a member of the party while retaining her parliamentary seat.
Mushonga earned the parliamentary seat representing Matabeleland South amid severe resistance from members who claimed she was not from the province.
On the other side Ncube is accused by party members of unilaterally declaring Mushonga’s candidature against the wishes of the ordinary party members in the area. Several party members quit the organisation as a result of Mushonga’s said forced candidature.
Mushonga was unavailable for commenting at the time of writing.

Mujuru Barmy Refuses To Surrender Zanu PF Assets

Masvingo Ousted Zanu PF Provincial chairman Paradzai Chakona who was accused of being expelled Joice Mujuru’s “barmy” has refused to hand over party assets as intra party fighting intensifies.

Chakona who was booted out last week after being accused of being a member of the Gamatox team is reportedly in possession of three party vehicles among other assets.

The heated meeting was held at Victoria Primary School last Sunday and party officials spent several hours locked in the meeting- to the shock of junior party members and residents of the ancient city who expected the meeting to address hunger and drought issues currently dogging the community.

While the Zanu PF leadership spent several hours fighting along factional battles they to date have done nothing to address problems faced by villagers shifted from the Tokwe Mukosi area. Meanwhile Chakona vowed he would not surrender the assets since he was entitled to them.”

There are small minds in the party. I was entitled to those assets but there are people who pre-occupy themselves with trivial issues, said Chakona. According to insiders who attended the meeting Minister of State for Masvingo Province Shuvai Mahofa accused Chakona of being a Mujuru ally.

Chakona accused senior party officials of failing to concentrate on productive issues.Brighton Ramusi a local social analyst said the entire nation had been stalled by the anti-Mujuru mantra with nothing in sight as remedy for the economic abyss. “We have had enough of the anti-Mujuru mantra but it is ideal for the ruling party to focus on key issues affecting the nation,”said Ramusi.

Makandiwa Attacks Magaya

Harare preacher Emmanuel Makandiwa people refer to as “prophet,” and Walter Magaya have begun attacking each other in what has now been termed the battle of so-called “prophets.”
It all started when a list of influential Zimbabweans was flighted by a UK website, ZimEye.com has unearthed, and the turf has opened up a can of worms on both preachers’ conduct as previously exposed in several indepth investigations.

The list of Zimbabwe’s most influential youths triggered the shocking tussle between Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Walter Magaya and United Families International church (Ufic) founder Emmanuel Makandiwa causing a vivid rift between them.
This came after Makandiwa was ranked only number 3 while Magaya took first place in the list of the top 100 most influential young Zimbabweans the website compiled.
The war has now broken  forth over who is more popular and has a bigger following than the other after Magaya accepted the honour while Makandiwa rubbished the award. Makandiwa has rubbished the award saying it was bogus.

Makandiwa in a broad and emotional narrative, said he dismmisses the award. He also added alleging that he has in the past rejected such honours because he values “heavenly” recognition. His official spokesman, Prime Kufakunesu in a statement said Makandiwa knew a rival church was behind the advert.
That rival church church followers say is Magaya’s congregation.
But Makandiwa’s own church group flighted a newspaper advert congratulating their “prophet” on the award. Kufa did not disclose the members behind the congratulatory advert which he said is “malicious”.
But PHD Ministries spokesperson Admire Mango yesterday told a daily that Makandiwa should not point fingers at others, but deal with “problems in his church internally”.
“We don’t know what they are trying to say in their statement but we believe they should solve their own issues internally and not blame other people,” Mango said.
“We accepted the honour and recognition because we believe the Lord is using the man of God and touching many lives in a humbling way. We don’t seek relevance at all as we don’t seek earthly recognition but again we have to appreciate a recognition bestowed on us.”
The response came after Makandiwa distanced Ufic from a group that published an advertisement in a local daily congratulating him for the listing claiming the statement by a group calling itself “Sons and Daughters” bordered on “terrorism”.
This has sparked speculation of a “Holy War” between the Pentecostal rival prophets over who was more popular than the other.
“Initial professional investigations show that the advert is the work of another church trying to magnify and glorify the bogus award,” Makandiwa said in the advert.
Some church leaders believed the statement confirmed the cold war between the two rival churches over the popularity ratings a move that indicated some Pentecostal churches were losing ground to their rivals.
Mango however, said as far as Magaya was concerned, Makandiwa was his elder brother and treated him as such.
“Prophet Magaya treats Prophet Makandiwa as his brother and he has made it public that he has nothing against him. So any suggestion contrary to it is unfortunate and untoward,” Mango said.
Magaya last month said that he had nothing against Makandiwa but confirmed there was a “silent war” in the Pentecostal movement.
“Yes, there is a silent war especially with those that started earlier. They feel challenged at the rate at which we are growing at,” he said then.(Newsday/Additional Reporting)

MDC Implodes In Masvingo over Tsvangirai, Chamisa “Cat-fight”

Catfight?...Morgan Tsvangirai
Catfight?…Morgan Tsvangirai

By Tinoonga Mawere, Masvingo| The MDC is in a quandary in Masvingo as Morgan Tsvangirai loyalists are reportedly making spirited efforts to purge party members thought to be sympathetic to Nelson Chamisa.
Impeccable sources have revealed party employees from Harvest House were last week assaulted by party youths who accused them of belonging to Chamisa. The youths reportedly confiscated some stationery, cameras and cash.
There have been reports of infighting between Tsvangirai and former organising secretary Chamisa. The latest bickering in the country’s biggest opposition party could dampen the hopes of millions of Zimbabweans who are hard pressed for change.
Zimbabweans across the board placed hope for change on Tsvangirai at least for the past decade but the former trade unionist is seemingly ran out of steam 24 months before the elections in 2018.
It is claimed that Tsvangirai himself began the catfight after he noticed Chamisa’s growing popularity among the youth and elderly alike resulting in Tsvangirai booting the 38 year old who is capable of standing as the party’s Presidential candidate in the upcoming 2018 elections when he turns 40.
Although MDC provincial spokesperson Dust Zivhave said reports on the feud between Tsvangirai and Chamisa were baseless, party insiders maintained their claim that Chamisa was setting up parallel structures since he had an axe to grind with Tsvangirai.
A party insider said:”There is chaos in Masvingo province some party members argue that the provincial executive was imposed by Chamisa and the members of the same executive are being accused of sabotaging Tsvangirai.
People are now aligning themselves with either of the two opposing camps. This is a sad development because the MDC carries the hope of the entire nation. We urge the leaders to resolve their differences amicably,” they said.

Bloody Clashes as MDC Bashes ZANU PF in Harare

Bloody clashes erupted in Harare South on Sunday when ZANU PF violently disrupted an MDC-T meeting.
The disturbing commotion in the area that used to be called Hopley farm, lasted (6) six hours leaving a trail of destruction of homesteads and business premises, and at least 14 people injured.
The entire area was turned into a “war zone.”
It all started at around 9.30 am as the rival parties battled each other with stones, sticks, bricks, bows and arrows, and various other objects which were accidentally also used to attack the surrounding residential properties.
Riot police remained stationed into the night.

Jonathan Moyo Starts Law Degree in Zanele’s Honour

HIGHER Education minister Jonathan Moyo says he will pursue a law degree in honour of his late daughter Zanele who had always wished to become a lawyer.
Zanele (20) died under mysterious circumstances in Cape Town a fortnight ago. She was pursuing a Political Science, International Relations and Gender Studies degree at the University of Cape Town.
However, the Tsholotsho North legislator tweeted on Friday that his daughter had wished to become a lawyer and following her death he had decided to study law to honour her wish.
“As one of the three things in Zanele’s honour and because she ultimately wanted to be a lawyer, I’m embarking on an LLB to do what she wanted done,” Moyo tweeted.
“It is food for thought to reflect on the implications of the fact that the only title which God shares with human beings is that of Father!”
At the weekend, Zanu PF National Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere posted pictures of him with Moyo in a lecture room.
Moyo, Kasukuwere and President Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Indigenisation minister Patrick Zhuwao have enrolled for a law degree with the University of Zimbabwe.
On Thursday, Moyo tweeted that he believed everything happened for a purpose.
“From my faith everything happens for a reason and from my education everything has a cause but in both cases some questions have no answers!” he said.
Speaking at his daughter’s graveside in Harare, Moyo also said he would give his life to God after the devastating loss of his daughter.-SouthernEye

Bogus Minister Mombeshora Agent Fleeces Zinara Official $6,000

A Harare man allegedly masqueraded as Lands and Rural Resettlement Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora and fleeced a Zimbabwe National Roads Administration official of $6 000 after offering him a non-existent farm. Weston Chigubhu (35) of No. 883 Crowbrough North appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo facing fraud charges. Chigubhu was denied bail and Mr Makomo advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The complainant in the matter is Zinara’s licensing and transport controller, Mr George Chamwaura. Prosecuting, Ms Sharon Mashavira alleged that between 2011 and 2014, Chigubhu hired Minister Mombeshora’s lorry which he in turn hired out to various cotton companies. During his escapades, Chigubhu masqueraded as Dr Mombeshora.
It is alleged that sometime in May, he approached a former Zinara human resources executive, Mr Peter Boterere, purporting to have been sent by Dr Mombeshora to register his vehicle. Chigubhu allegedly went on to commend Zinara for services given to Dr Mombeshora and indicated the minister wanted to reward Chamwaura by allocating him a farm.
Chamwaura became interested and Chigubhu allegedly gave him a Telecel number 0735102985 which he said belonged to Dr Mombeshora. Chigubhu allegedly contacted Chamwaura using that number and ordered him to deposit money into an EcoCash account 0777856996 which he said belonged to the Minister’s driver, Mr James Maponga.
Chigubhu later pretended to be Dr Mombeshora and ordered money to be deposited into an account belonging to a Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement official, Mr Tichaona Mukoreka. It is alleged that on another occasion, Chigubhu asked for $1 000 while pretending to be Dr Mombeshora and the money was collected by a John Gutsa.
The court heard that after numerous demands for cash by Chigubhu, Chamwaura became suspicious. Investigations revealed that all the mobile numbers used in the scam belonged to Chigubhu and that the people who received the money were his cousins. Chamwaura lost $6 137 and nothing was recovered. – State Media

Zimbabwe Parties Demand Investigation on RUSSIA PLANE CRASH TRAGEDY

The Russian embassy has expressed gratitude for Zimbabwe’s standing aside it in mourning the hundreds of precious lives who were killed when an (Airbus A-321) airline crashed in Egypt on its way back to Russia on Saturday. They said this as Zim political parties (excluding ZANU PF) demanded a thorough investigation as rumours of terrorism and deliberate tampering flared.

“Благодарим всех граждан #Зимбабве, кто скорбит сегодня вместе с нами” – thank you to all the citizens of Zimbabwe # who mourn with us today, the embassy said in a statement as flowers were being laid at the consulate’s Harare building.

Tragedy hit yesterday when the Russian airliner crashed in central Sinai killing all 224 people on board, most of them Russian citizens.

The MDC-T party announced demanding a thorough investigation: “As the MDC, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of all the passengers who perished in the Russian plane tragedy at the weekend”, the party’s spokesperson Obert Gutu said.

He continued, “as a social democratic political party, the MDC deeply cherishes the values of empathy and solidarity. We would like a thorough investigation to be conducted so that the exact cause of this mishap can be identified. Rumours are floating around to the effect that the plane was brought down by armed militants in retaliation to Russia’s military intervention in Syria in support of the President Bashir Al – Assad. We trust that the investigations will get to the bottom of what really happened.”

The Joice Mujuru aligned People First party announced saying, “we are as a party very sorrowful about the plane crash. What happened is difficult and we stand by the families and with the Russian nation at large,” spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said.

Also conveying condolences, the Tendai Biti lead People’s Democratic Party’s spokesperson, Jacob Mafume reached out to the Russian community expressing, “we are deeply saddened about this tragic event. Our hearts and minds go out to the Russian people at this moment. On behalf of our members and the Zimbabwean people we send our condolences to his excellency the Russian president and the Russian people.”

How the accident happened.
The Airbus A-321 had just left the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, bound for the Russian city of St Petersburg.
Wreckage was found in the Hasana area and bodies removed, along with the plane’s “black box”. An official described a “tragic scene” with bodies of victims still strapped to seats.
Egypt’s prime minister said no “irregular” activities were to blame.
Sinai has an active militant network, and on Saturday afternoon, jihadis allied to the so-called Islamic State made a claim on social media that they brought down flight KGL9268.
But Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov told Interfax news agency that “such reports cannot be considered true”. No evidence had been seen that indicated the plane was targeted, he said.
Egypt’s civilian aviation ministry said the plane had been at an altitude of 9,450m (31,000ft) when it disappeared.
Security experts say a plane flying at that altitude would be beyond the range of a shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile (Manpad), which Sinai militants are known to possess. (ZimEye/Additional Reporting BBC)

Stampede to Endorse Chiyangwa for ZIFA Presidency

IMG-20151027-WA0029Ten provincial chairpersons were yesterday dazzled by aspiring Zifa presidential candidate Phillip Chiyangwa’s flamboyance and possibly his manifesto as they unanimously endorsed him for the December 5 election during a meeting held in the capital.
The endorsement came barely a few days after Chiyangwa was endorsed by the four regional chairs.
The meeting, as expected, was held at Chiyangwa’s offices along Enterprise Road in Harare and was attended by all the 10 provincial chairpersons, with his campaign strategist Farai Jere also making a surprise visit to address the councillors.
Chiyangwa and Jere took turns to give the councillors a road map of how they intended to breathe life into Zimbabwean football, which is now reeling in intensive care unit.
Speaking after the meeting, Midlands province Zifa chairman Brian Chishanga said they had endorsed Chiyangwa as their presidential candidate.
“We have agreed as provincial chairpersons that we endorse Chiyangwa as our next football leader. We have taken a position that we are all going to vote for Chiyangwa. Remember, there are four votes for our area zones which translate to 14 votes that Chiyangwa has already bagged,” Chishanga said in a telephone interview.
Meanwhile, Chiyangwa told Standardsport that he would need 90 days if elected into office to deal with Zifa debts.
He said his election would be a stepping stone to bigger posts at the continental football body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the world football motherbody, Fifa.
“I have no intentions whatsoever to stay as Zifa boss for more than the two years that I have talked about. My aim is to use this as a stepping stone for a bigger post in CAF and Fifa, that’s what I am aiming at. I want to put Zimbabwe on the international map by holding an influential post either at Caf or even at Fifa,” Chiyangwa said.Standard

Mystery as Top Doctor is Found Dead In Car

Mystery hangs over the death of a Bulawayo doctor who was on Thursday night found dead in his car.
The surgeon, Dr Phinot Moyo, 58, employed at Mater Dei Hospital, was discovered by police officers on patrol.
Dr. Moyo’s car was parked on the road-side with one of his legs outside the vehicle.
ZRP Officers say they spotted the car while passing through the area according to State papers.
When they opened the car they found only Dr Moyo inside who they pronounced dead at the scene.
Such deaths are rare in the city and members of the public have expressed doubts that it was of a natural cause.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango told the State Media investigations are on course.
“I can confirm that our officers found a body of an adult man in his vehicle. Investigations are underway to establish what could have killed him. We’re waiting for a postmortem report to direct us how we should proceed with the matter,” said Insp Simango.
She said when police found Dr Moyo’s body, his vehicle’s hazard lights were on.
Dr Moyo’s brother and family spokesperson Liveson Moyo said he was informed about his death at about midnight.
“I received a phone call from the police who inquired if I knew the person whose phone they were using to call me. At first I didn’t realise that it was my brother’s as I was fast asleep but when they called for the second time I realised it was his phone. They then told me that he had passed away and I started calling around informing other family members,” said Moyo.
He said Dr Moyo’s death came as a shock to the family as he did not have any medical condition that could have claimed his life.
“I even asked family members when I came here whether there was anything bothering him but everyone said he was in perfect condition,” he said.
The vice president for Zimbabwe Medical Association Matabeleland region, Dr Wedu Ndebele said the country had suffered a devastating loss.
He described Dr Moyo as a dedicated philanthropist who had a passion for children and development.
Dr Moyo was a children anaesthetist.
“He was a disciplined, hard-working doctor. He was very selfless. You would call him at any time of the day and he would be there to offer his service. His death is a big blow to Bulawayo and the whole southern region as there aren’t so many specialists like him,” he said.
He is survived by a wife and four children, three girls and a boy.
Mourners are gathered at house Number 13 Founders Road, Richmond.

Zim Man Rapes A Donkey In Botswana- Papers

Crying-donkey
A Zimbabwean man suspected to have raped a donkey told the court on Wednesday that appearing every 14 days was a waste of time as he wants to be sentenced.
He said that if at all he has committed an offence he would rather be sentenced for it sooner rather than later.
Vee Mulilo, 23, is accused of unlawfully having carnal knowledge of a donkey on August 27 at Phuduhudu lands. The donkey is the property of one, Mmoloki Neo.
The state alleges that Mulilo left the donkey with some knee injuries as he had tied it to a tree prior to allegedly raping it. Mulilo told Palapye magistrate, Gofaone Mosweu that it was not possible for him to wait for another 14 days in prison.
“I am always told to wait for 14 days to appear in court and this is a bit tiring as well as frustrating me. I just want things to be done and completed, the whole process is just a waste of my time. Furthermore, I do not know the reason why I am in prison. I want to be sentenced as soon as possible if at all there is something wrong that I have done,” said Mulilo.
Mulilo was denied bail because he is in Botswana illegally and does not have travelling documents. In addition he has been working in Botswana without a working permit since August 2014. State prosecutor, Inspector Ditsapelo Emmanuel, applied for Mulilo to be further remanded in custody while still waiting for the results from the forensic laboratory.
Emmanuel said: “We are still waiting for the results from the forensic laboratory, we expect them to be ready by November 2, 2015. So we apply
for the accused to be further remanded in custody. We are hopeful that we will be ready with the results after 14 days”.
Mosweu explained to the accused that it was not possible to sentence him while the investigations are still ongoing. She said the results from the forensic laboratory are part of the investigations so the court could not go on with sentencing him without such evidence.
“It will also be unlawful to skip other court procedures and jump into sentencing you without even taking your plea. Let’s wait for the results, that is when we will take your plea and continue with case management and then trial,” she said.
In another matter, yet another Zimbabwean national Raymond Mafuta, 34, accused of rape, pleaded with magistrate Mosweu to allow him bail so that he can go and re-assemble his clients’ car gearboxes.
He said he left them in pieces hence his customers are unable to get their cars back as they lack other parts.
In response to his plea, Mosweu told Mafuta that it was not possible to release him from prison only because he wants to complete his personal things.
She said it would mean that all accused persons who have been remanded in jail would also be released to go and complete their works. Mosweu advised Mafuta to make an application to the High Court if he was not satisfied with the answer.
Both accused persons appeared in person and they will appear again for mention on November 11, 2015. Mmegi

Father Steals to Pay School Fees

beest1A 56-YEAR-OLD man who is a father of 11 children stole 22 poles valued at $110 from his 91-year-old neighbour in a bid to raise money to pay school fees for his children.
But owns 20 cattle
Nhlanhla Siwela of Dombodema area in Bulilima told the court that his children were being continuously sent home from school and he was struggling to raise the money.
Siwela who also revealed that he owned 20 cattle said eight of his children were at school while the other two were not employed.
“I stole the poles as I wanted to sell them in a bid to raise money for my children’s school fees. I earn a living through piece jobs which I perform as a builder but the money is hardly enough for me to sustain my large family.
“My children were being persistently sent home from school and I needed the money urgently. I have 20 cattle but they are with a relative who stays far from my homestead which made it difficult for me to access one on time,” said Siwela.
He pleaded for the court’s leniency after citing that he was the sole breadwinner at his homestead.
Siwela was convicted by Plumtree magistrate, Mr Gideon Ruvetsa for theft. Mr Ruvetsa sentenced him to 12 months imprisonment of which six months were suspended for five years on condition that he does not within the period commit an offence of the same nature. The remaining six months were further suspended on condition that he performs 210 hours of community service at Dombodema Clinic.
Prosecuting, Mr Clemence Shawarira said Siwela stole 22 metal poles belonging to Moses Ngwenya on 8 October in the middle of the night and nothing was recovered.-SundayNews

Mugabe’s Successor Not essentially Shona – Mphoko

President

Acting President Phelejezela Mphoko
Acting President Phelejezela Mphoko

Robert Mugabe’s automatic successor is not essentially from the Shona tribe, Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko has said.
A president of Zimbabwe can emerge from any tribe in the country as leadership is a negotiated deal between Zanu and PF Zapu, he said.
Addressing hundreds of Zanu-PF supporters during a rally at Chikombedzi Primary School in Chiredzi on Wednesday, Mphoko said the country’s leadership was a product of the Unity Accord signed between the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo and President Mugabe. He said Zimbabwe’s leadership was not determined on tribal grounds but is based on whether one is from Zipra or Zanla and is able to serve their country as president.
“You should leave that bad thinking. If one still thinks that one needs to be a Zezuru or Ndebele in order to be a leader then that person isn’t a Zimbabwean. Sikombela and Gonakudzingwa are a testimony of how Zanu and Zapu worked together as President Mugabe played a prominent role at Sikombela in Midlands while Dr Joshua Nkomo was at Gonakudzingwa with many cadres from Zanu. Enos Nkala was also with President Mugabe,” he said.
“The late Dr Nkomo and President Mugabe used to share the chairing of cabinet meetings as the two leaders.” The Acting President said Zimbabwe has no room for tribalistic tendencies which he said are always divisive.
He said although people believe that the Unity Accord was first signed in 1987, it was actually signed in 1972 when the late nationalists Herbert Chitepo, representing Zanu and Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo representing PF Zapu agreed to work together. He said the 1987 signing of the Unity Accord only emphasised the existing unity between Zanu and PF Zapu.
Mphoko called on people to be united regardless of their tribe or where they came from as unity was the key to the country’s development.
He said he supported calls for the rehabilitation of the Chiredzi-Sango border post road, triggering a round of ululation from villagers who came in numbers to the rally. “Never listen to people who say leadership belongs to a certain tribe. If President Robert Mugabe decides to leave today, members in the party will choose someone basing on whether he is from Zapu or Zanu.
“That arrangement has been there and that’s what we agreed at the Unity Accord,” said Acting President Mphoko. He said the Zapu that is led by Dumiso Dabengwa is not the one that united with Zanu PF and appealed to people not to be confused by the opposition party. He said President Mugabe and other nationalists, both living and departed, suffered for the country as they went through a tortuous journey in detention and on the front.
He urged Zimbabweans to appreciate the sacrifices made by those cadres to liberate the country. Mphoko had earlier on toured the ruins of Gonakudzingwa detention camp. – State Media

Elephant Poisoning: ZRP Cop Implicated

A syndicate comprising police officers, Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers and Asians is behind the latest spate of elephant killings in Hwange National Park, it has emerged.
One of the suspects under active investigatin is an assistant commissioner of police.
Several others have been arrested in connection with the killing of 22 jumbos last Sunday, including a junior cop and a Parks camp manager.
The syndicate has allegedly killed around 55 elephants for their ivory tusks since early 2015.
Information gathered by the State Media over the last two weeks indicates the Asians (names withheld) are the kingpins behind the indiscriminate poaching, whose funds sometimes end up oiling other international criminal networks.
Globally, poaching and wildlife trafficking are highly lucrative businesses estimated to earn between US$23 billion and US$47 billion yearly.
They are jointly ranked fourth on the list of large-scale illegal trade worldwide after drug trafficking, counterfeiting and human trafficking.
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed arrests were made last week and said investigations were continuing.
Parks and Wildlife Management Authority acting spokesperson Mr Tawanda Gotosa added: “I can confirm that some arrests were made and one of our camp managers was suspended.”
Mr Gotosa would not discuss the matter further saying doing so would jeopardise investigations.
Senior Government officials close to the probe said names of those under investigation could not published as yet.
Sources said that the masterminds engaged game rangers and rogue cops, arranging details of hits, including killing methods and transportation.
In last Sunday’s case, three rangers and a police officer were deployed to man watering holes that had previously been poisoned with cyanide to kill and de-tusk elephants.
The holes had been detoxified and were now considered safe.
However, 22 elephants were poisoned using the same method, despite the security team being on patrol.
It turns out that part of the patrol team was about 500m away when at least one elephant went into death throes after drinking the poisoned water.
And ranger is said to have heard the noise made as tusks were cut off.
Authorities said the rangers and police officers were working with a powerful syndicate including Asian businessmen responsible for sourcing cyanide from gold mines.
Cyanide is a classified and relatively expensive chemical and ordinary villagers around the Hwange National Park may not necessarily access or buy it.
About 10kg of cyanide were taken from a gold mine in Esigodini, some 40km from Bulawayo.
An official said, “The problem is that some of the rangers who have been assisting security forces investigate the matter are also involved in the poaching. This close-knit syndicate must be busted to bring sanity to wildlife conservation.
“The question is if rangers and cops were deployed to watering holes which were detoxed barely a week ago, how did the poachers poison the elephants? This shows that the rangers are involved, these include those who were fired from the parastatal. It’s a huge and powerful syndicate.”
Investigators also discovered that during a recent inventory of elephant tusks at Hwange National Park stores, a tusk was missing.
However, a few days later, it had been replaced by a smaller one.
Only Parks officials had access to the stores.
Rampant poaching has gone on for years now after 32 elephants were killed a fortnight ago by cyanide poisoning in Hwange, while three were found dead in Matusadona National Park, Kariba.
Two years ago, about 300 elephants were killed via cyanide poisoning in Hwange National Park.
Elephant tusks have a huge market in Asia, especially in China.
In September, officials in Hong Kong intercepted 51kg of ivory worth over US$100 000 in two inbound airmail parcels from Zimbabwe via Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The airmail was declared at Hong Kong International Airport as “decorative tiles”. This was a second case in two weeks after another consignment was seized which had been smuggled from Zimbabwe into Hong Kong with the same. State Media

Minister Mpofu’s House Raided

Minister Obert Mpofu’s property in Newlands was raided yesterday morning by unknown men.
The same people are also understood to have attacked a High Court judge’s house as well. One person has been arrested. Details are still sketchy but sources close to Mpofu said two police details were injured and hospitalised due to the attacks, the first of which was at the minister’s premises in Newlands, Harare.
Indications are several men, using BMW and Toyota Mark II vehicles, gained entry into Mpofu’s premises after duping a police guard into allowing them in. They assaulted the officer before allegedly proceeding to the High Court justice’s house, where they again assaulted a cop stationed there.
Investigations are going on.-Sundaymail

“Stupid, Uneducated Cop”- Man Faces Jail for Insulting ZRP Officer

A BULAWAYO motorist has been hauled before the courts for labelling police officers at a roadblock as “uneducated, silly and empty-headed.”
Shepard Mandi (33) of Entumbane was not asked to plead to the charge of undermining the authority of a police officer when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa on Wednesday.
The court heard that on October 13 at 9:15am Mandi was driving his Honda Fit along 3rd Avenue Extension into town when he was stopped at a road block by a police officer who asked him to produce his driver’s licence.
Mandi said he had lost it and the police officer asked him why he did not have temporary identification in place. The accused then allegedly went ballistic and started shouting at the police officer telling her that she was an uneducated officer who does not know what she was doing, but just wanted money from him.
Another police officer, who was in charge of the team approached Mandi trying to control the situation.
But Mandi allegedly shouted at her saying she should get away and was a “silly” police officer.
He allegedly went on to say police officers wearing uniforms had “nothing in their heads” and are just animals.
He was later arrested.-SouthernEye

South African King Sneaks into Zimbabwe | BREAKING NEWS

Staff Reporter | King Bhunane 3 of South Africa and members of the Zulu royal family this morning quietly made their way into the country via Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport in Bulawayo.
Sources at the international airport confirmed to media that the King of the Hlubi people of South Africa who are subjects of Zulu king Goodwill, Zwelithini sneaked into the country as Zwelithini’s emissary. Media was recently a awash with news that King Zwelithini was on his way to the country an issue which was met with massive resistance from Zimbabweans following the king’s sentiments about the influx of foreigners in South Africa leading to xenophobic attacks against foreigners by South African nationals.
The resistance by Zimbabweans caused the organisers of the trip to abandon the king’s trip to Zimbabwe. It is also believed that the Zimbabwean government was not in a position to sanction Zwelithini’s visit to the country after Zwelithini described President Robert Mugabe as a failed father who can not take care of his children as Zimbabweans flock into South Africa in millions as economic refugees.
The royal families are believed to be in the company of Gwanda born South Africa based business tycoon Justice Maphosa who is bank rolling the Gwanda Gospel Extravaganza at a cost running into millions of Rands.

Soldiers Beating Up Landlords, Seizing Properties In Manicaland

Unrestrained  soldiers have gone on a rampage in Makoni North beating up residents and taking away their properties.
The first signs of the abuses were publicly seen at Honde Valley’s Hauna hospital where and on Wednesday two people were admitted suffering from bloody injuries inflicted by the army.
ZimEye is reliably informed army officers are on an illegal, abusive wild, freely grabbing stands in Hauna’s high density areas particularly in Phase Two.
In what has been blamed on local (ZANU PF) MP Luke Masamvu, the uniformed officers are forcefully taking people’s properties with neither compensation. ” Masamvu, the same legislator who earlier in the year ordered management at Nyanga Renewable Energy (NRE) company to employ only ruling party youths, ” is allegedly behind the land grabs as he allegedly connives with council bosses.
“People who might have bought stands with their hard-earned money but are yet to develop them, are just being told that their stands have been taken over. Soldiers then move in and build their houses without any form of payment to the stand owner,” sources said.
Contacted for comment, the Mutasa North MP told ZimEye.com he is not aware of any of the attacks taking place. He demanded for a police report before he could speak. “Do you have a police report in relevance to that matter?,” he said.
He continued:
“How can a person be attacked and he doesn’t go to the police to report, if the information (you got) was correct?

“If they want to relay certain information, they should put it in writing, not in a false manner(sic),” Masamvu added.
But recorded evidence at the hospital shows of a truth two residents were admitted Wednesday from wounds inflicted by the soldiers and our sources insist the violations do exist adding, “those against are then being beaten up or vosungwa nekurohwa voendeswa kuArmy Barracks dzepa Hauna Growth point.
“This is happening like right now and noone seems to care or protect the people,” the report continued.
“Of the abused are people initially allocated by the Mutasa District Council or those who had bought them with their hard earned money.
“And due to the current hardships, some people have been finding it difficult to build structures
“Vanhu vari kurohwa and last night two people were admitted at Hauna Hospital after being badly beaten up nemasoja.
“Their argument is vaive vaka promiswa ma-stands neCouncil and Council has failed to allocate the stands to them and they have no choice to grab all undeveloped stands – stands that were legitimately allocated to the people of Mutasa District by the same council.
And because kumaruzevha and very far away from the media, vanhu vamwe chembere havana kana kwekuhwanda and are surrendering their properties.
“We hope kuti at least someone can follow up. This is being done by the evil MP Masamvu with knowledge ye council.
“Why can’t the council allocate the Army its own area with their own stands?”
After a lengthy battle Saturday morning, MP Masamvu finally agreed with ZmEye.com to investigate on the matter.

BREAKING NEWS: “Jarzin Man” Dies

No one will ever forget the voice that used to shout “JARZIN” every morning on ZBC then Radio Two now Radio Zimbabwe.

The man behind that voice has died.
“Lazzie T” as Tembo was popularly known died in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.
Announcing the death of Tembo former colleague at the ZBC and close associate, Eric Ramsley Knight, described Tembo as the greatest voice to come out of the ZBC.
“Ladies and gentlemen, comrades and friends, media colleagues and fellow Zimbabweans, it is with great sadness and sorrow that I share the news of the death of one of the finest broadcasters the country has ever produced, Mr Lazarus Tembo,” said Knight in a media announcement.
Tembo was the original presenter of the popular ZBC TV programme Mvenge Mvenge. He was also producer and presenter of several local music promoting programmes on both ZBC TV and radio.
However, most Zimbabweans will remember him for the breakfast radio quiz show Jarzin man which was broadcast on Radio 2 at 6:45 every morning. Tembo would also be remembered for his scintillating presentation of the popular Radio Two Top Twenty count down on Saturdays.
Commenting on the death of Tembo, one Tariro Mhandu described him as every school child’s morning alarm to school.

Makandiwa Miracles Vanish

There is no more miracle cash, and miracle babies have suddenly become a thing of the dreaming human imagination – Harare preacher Emmanuel Makandiwa has been left with an egg of his face after his so called ‘miracles’ vanished and are no longer happening.
In 2012-13, Makandiwa shot to fame raking millions of dollars in donations after thousands of Zimbabweans flocked to his meetings when told they could receive instant miracle cash. The frenzy even caught Zimbabwe’s former Reserve Bank Gideon Gono who himself ended up joining the prophets, going to the extent of passing his seal of approval.
But soon after journalists began investigating the incidents and started interrogating the preachers, two years later there is not a single mention of any such miracle.
In the same vein, a miracle baby Makandiwa claimed to have been born 3 days after sex, died and the preacher conducted a secret burial for him where journalists were barred from filming. This reporter followed up with Makandiwa and was for several days kept waiting as his staff members blocked any contact with the man of the cloth.
In June ZimEye.com exposed another scam by Makandiwa which involved fake fat belly miracles. Soon after that the Kwekwe woman Makandiwa used to stage one of the acts, evaded questions when asked for her medical records to prove she had indeed been healed and that she had of a truth suffered from a fat belly condition. “Don’t you have any other stories to investigate?,” she said.
She continued,
“It seems you are now spending your life studying Mai Muza,” Betty Muza said much to Makandiwa’s humiliation.
The development has seen prominent theologian, elder with 25 years of ministry experience and upstanding church founder, Dr. Noah Pashapa blasting Zimbabwe’s fake prophets.
Episode 5 of Tonight With Zororo (Makamba) focused on the evolution of the church in Zimbabwe, and Zororo started off by recounting his personal experience after visiting one of the popular Pentecostal churches in the country.
“When Papa would say something that resonated with his audience, members of the congregation would spontaneously stand up, and splash money on the stage,” Makamba said.
He went onto close his animated monologue by saying Prophet can now easily be mistaken for the word profit.
In the last few years, Pentecostal churches in Zimbabwe have grown tremendously. The three religious leaders at the centre of the growth are Prophets Emmanuel Makandiwa of UFI Ministries, Walter Magaya of PHD Ministries and Spirit Embassy founder Ubert Angel.
When describing the character of his religious counterparts Pashapa said they lacked a depth of understanding in a number of things.
“They (prophets) lack philosophy of religion, training in theology and understanding of the polity of the church.
“’These chaps are briefcase church leaders who have spent a few weeks, months at most, in ‘theological’ school,” he said.
Many workers and companies are feeling the pinch of the current economic hardships and have flocked to the church in pursuit of a change in fortune.
The gospel of prosperity has been the underlying message for many of these charismatic churches.
“Theirs is a gold spell of prosperity, gold being the underline. It takes from the poor to enrich the teachers.
“They engage in superficial care and concern activities, whilst robbing from the poor and enriching themselves,” Pashapa said.
Critics have argued that churches have become money-making schemes. The churches have become synonymous with miracles, healings, signs, wonders and prophecies. In 2013, Makandiwa and Angel boasted of Miracle Money which would see subscribers of this claim having extra money in their bank accounts and wallets.
During the interview with Zororo, Bishop Pashapa also recalled a conversation he had with one of the church leaders.
“He and his wife take the offerings and I remember hearing one of the chaps boast that they count the money until they were tired,” he said.
“They have a very myopic understanding of the church. Just their little group is the only authority on the church and everyone else is wrong.
“Just their brand of Christianity subscribes to one strand which is the gospel of prosperity message which focuses on material items of wealth.”
When asked how to spot a fake prophet Pashapa said church goers must raise eyebrows if the leader becomes the focus of the message.
Pashapa, who has been ministering God’s Word for the past 25 years, said, at the end of the day, you are bound to have light and shadow and the church is no exception because it’s run by human beings.
This episode also saw comedians P.O Box making their debut in a hilarious skit. Afro-Pop singer Tinashe Makura closed out with a performance of his latest single Love & Laughter on the Coca-Cola sound stage. Previous episodes of Tonight with Zororo can be found at www.twzshow.com

Magaya, Makandiwa Must Prophesy Itai Dzamara – Mnangagwa | BREAKING NEWS

Zimbabwe’s Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has slapped in the face Zimbabwe’s pentecostal prophets led by Emmanuel Makandiwa and Walter Magaya saying the “anointed” preachers must prophesy-out what happened to abducted democracy activist Itai Dzamara.
Dzamara, a journalist and political activist, disappeared on the 9th of March 2015 and government’s notorious CIO has been blamed for it all.
But Mnangagwa denied this saying government is also looking for what he said is a mere “answer”.
Mnangagwa told the Zanu PF Midlands Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting that everyone regrets what happened to Dzamara and the government is looking for answers.
The Vice President said every single citizen must be protected by the state and security agents including the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) are all out trying to find out what could have happened to Dzamara.
“We all regret what happened to Itai Dzamara and as government we have no answers. Both the police and the CIO are all out to try and find out what happened. Every single citizen must be protected by the state,” said Mnangagwa.
He then added that prophets must join and prophesy out what on earth is going on.
“We appeal to churches, including prophets (Magaya, Makandiwa), who can assist in finding Dzamara to do so as everyone is worried and concerned about him,” he added.
The High Court has since ordered state to regularly report to Dzamara’s lawyers and family about the progress made in the search and the investigation into his disappearance.

Witchcraft Fears as Stray Cats Terrorise Hospital Patients

Patients at the Gwanda Provincial Hospital are having no time to concentrate on their recovery process as they have to fight off marauding stray cats in the wards.
A source recently admitted at the hospital revealed to ZimEye.com that patients can hardly get their rest as the marauding cats run around the wards in search for food at the patients’ lockers. According to the source the cats now said to be witchcraft agents, are so cunning that they do not have to wait until night time to scavenge for food inside the wards.
“You can’t take time to relax because the moment you relax you hear things falling apart on or inside the lockers the cats stealing food stuff,” he said. “It’s just the same whether it’s at night or during the day.”
“The hospital staff appear to have given up the fight against the cats as they are not doing much to fight them off,” added the source in a WhatsApp tip off to the media.
Following up on the matter, several patients and members of staff within the hospital confirmed the menace of the cats to ZimEye.com. According to the sources within the hospital, the problem is more profound in the Female Ward and the hospital kitchen than anywhere else in the hospital.
“It’s a little better here in the male ward which is close to the busy Out Patients area,” said an employee at the hospital. “The situation is very bad at the female ward which is slightly to the back of the hospital where the cats easily sneak into the ward from the rear windows,” he added.
“These cats are so troublesome that they even get into cars parked within the hospital area searching for food,” said an official. “The only good thing about them us that they have eliminated the problem of rats and mice we experienced some years back.”
A quick tour around the hospital complex by the ZimEye.com correspondent revealed that the hospital is indeed a home to scores of stray cats. The animals were seen walking randomly around the hospital grounds without any restriction nor fear.
A visitor to the hospital identified as Lynette Dube lamented bitterly at the influx of the cats in the hospital calling on the authorities to get rid of the animals as they are a menace at the hospital and likely to carry infections into the hospital.
“My husband has been at the male ward for a while now and we can’t leave him extra food for him to eat later when he is hungry because the moment he falls asleep the food is stolen by the cats,” she said.
“It’s even getting very expensive for us because we now have to visit the hospital three times a day to bring him food,” said the relative.
Comment could not immediately be obtained from the hospital administrator but workers at the hospital confirmed and expressed their disgust at the animals claiming that the hospital has conceded loss in the fight against the cats.
An official within the hospital wards urged relatives of the sick not to bring too much food stuff for the patients as the excess food attracts the cats into the wards.
“Where possible I would urge relatives to bring in just enough food stuff for the patient to eat and finish and maybe just a little extra which can be put away easier as lots of food packed on the lockers attracts the cats.”

Jairos Jiri Still Alive – Mudede

Philanthropist Jairos Jiri has been with us all this while more than 29 years after his recorded death, according to Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede’s office.
According to the office, the man only died 29 years later, in 2011 .

Jairos-Jiri (1921-1982)
Jairos-Jiri (1921-1982)

A ZimEye.com undercover investigations informer in Bulawayo blew this revelation last week. Records at the RG’s office show Mr Jiri who started the Jairos Jiri Rehabilitation Centre for the disabled’s death certificate was placed into file around mid 2011.
The development means Mr Jiri’s corpse quite likely “voted” in general elections as has been customary in fraudulent elections since his death in 1982. More to follow…

The iPhone 6 Plus was the best selling “phablet” after its launch during the first quarter of the year. The device was released to compete with Samsung’s successful large-screened “phablet” lineup of phones, and it has appeared to do its job.

The new iPhones are also well known for their fantastic cameras, which rival Samsung’s equally impressive cameras found on their flagship devices. As people rely more and more on smartphones for all their picture taking needs, Apple has gone full-force for advertising its superb shooters.
As the iPhone claims a greater and greater share of Apple’s quarterly profits, the company has to do everything it can to keep its large customer base happy. For the past two quarters, the phone has made up for more than two-thirds of Apple’s sales.

Makandiwa, Magaya Stripped By Dr.

“Spotting A False Prophet,”  By Dr Noah Pashapa
There are simple ways of detecting a false prophet, prominent church founder, academic and theologian, Dr. Noah Pashapa says in a development that has seen Prophets Emmanuel Makandiwa, and Walter Magaya publicly fingered for the manner in which they dabble in crafted miracles and cash takings. “All Bishop’s words point at Makandiwa and Magaya, how can Zimbabweans forget for instance the fake fat belly miracle?” scholar Andrew Dube said on Tuesday.
Speaking to TV presenter Zororo Makamba, Dr Pashapa said there are signs that are easy to see which instantly display a false preacher. The preacher who has been behind the pulpit for over 25 years, said, “there are indicators in the Bible but one of the most critical ones is anyone who begins to focus on themselves: their whole message, the whole organisation revolves around them. They have become a personality cult.  They have become “the” important component. That is your indicator number one, because John The Baptist said Jsus must increase, I must decrease. I am not even fit to tie the thread of his sandals.
“Number 2 – You judge them by the fruit, their character. If some is out to milk, is out to manipulate. He is using the power of suggestion. People are told I have prayed for you you are healed, stop taking your medication…In Jesus’ time he heals the people who have leprosy,  he says to them go consult the doctors because the priests of the day were the doctors.
“So he says to the ten lepers you go consult with the priests who will confirm you have been healed for sure. But these chaps don’t do that. In fact they say to people you don’t go to the doctors. I am telling you you are healed instantaneously, and completely. There is no room for partial gradual healing. And there is no room for no healing…”
“A lot of these people are now looking for medical attention when it is too late.”
Pashapa said spiritual deception has become rampant due to the Zimbabwean political environment for over 35 years continuing to impose a “very terrorised mentality” in the people.

Tsvangirai: Khama To Shoot into Mugabe

MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai once fled Zimbabwe to hide in the house of the new SADC head Botswana’s President Ian Khama while running away from President Robert Mugabe. This time Tsvangirai has hinted his colleague, Khama  is going to slam into Mugabe and deal with his regime,  now that he has the powers as the new SADC chairman.
All this is because the entire SADC region is being suffocated by Mugabe, Tsvangirai graphically pointed.
Addressing journalists on a wide range of issues, Tsvangirai said that Mugabe’s “destructive” Presidency seen to continue into his 94th birthday, is going to make the Tsvangirai ally, Khama, to do something on on the aged leader.
He said this when asked if he thinks Khama will act on Mugabe. He replied in part, “the Zimbabwean crisis is pivotal in the economic progress of the whole region, so the crisis at the central affects the whole region.
“What it means is that SADC must say look we have a situation where the regime is unstable, it’s imploding… so you have three issues that are of concern to SADC that they need to address,” Tsvangirai said [SEE from time code 16:35]. FULL PRESS CONFERENCE:

UK University Campus sec Named After Zimbabwean Man

The Late Godfrey Moyo
The Late Godfrey Moyo

The United Kingdom’s prestigious De Montfont University Leicester has honoured a Zimbabwean lecturer by naming a part of its campus after him.
Dozens of family members, friends, and colleagues gathered to remember the late Godfrey Moyo at a ceremony at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), where a lecture theatre was officially renamed in his honour.
It is the first time the university has named a part of its campus in memory of a member of staff in this way, demonstrating the high regard in which Godfrey was held in by his colleagues and students.
Lecture theatre 0.28 is now known as the Godfrey Moyo lecture theatre, in honour of the man who taught at DMU for 15 years as a senior lecturer in Mental Health Nursing within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
GODFREY
Godfrey’s widow unveiled a plaque commemorating her husband following some touching testimonies to Godfrey’s memory. He was celebrated as a hugely passionate and devoted lecturer and true friend to many members of staff and students throughout DMU.
In a heart-wrenching show of gratitude to her father’s peers, Godfrey’s daughter Denise said: “This is a great gesture in my daddy’s memory, I can’t thank you enough. Thank you so much. The best daddy in the world doesn’t exist anymore, that’s because he’s in heaven.”
Godfrey’s son Darren added: “He would have loved to have seen this; he cared about his job passionately.
“I speak for the whole family when I say this means the world to us.”
Dr Simon Oldroyd, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, said: “It’s a celebration. It’s a really important day for us because we’ve never done this sort of thing before – naming a part of the university after a member of staff.
“I didn’t know Godfrey but I came to learn of him. It’s a real testament to him that I heard so much about him. He was more than just well respected.
“He was talked about and remembered as a very good man and somebody who cared for others and his students in a very particular way. In the truest sense of the word, he has become a legend and what better place than a place of learning to remember him by.
“The next generation of nurses will be taking their step towards becoming nurses in this room and that’s the most fitting thing about it. He was an educationalist.”

Uebert Angel HIV+ AIDS Status: Why The World Must Know Now

  • He would pleasure himself on the woman from midnight all the way up to 9am
  • “Holiness”
  • “It’s me Papa.”

exposed...Uebert Angel
exposed…Uebert Angel

The development in the investigation of disgraced preacher Uebert Angel has seen sympathisers charging that his HIV status is none of the public’s business and that journalists should stop the explosive reporting. This reporter strongly disputes that drivel and herein argues that there are serious public health issues at stake and journos have a responsibility to warn the public.
These issues arise from that evidence proves Mr Angel(Mudzanire), a public figure with thousands under his sole control in which he is referred to as The Prophet, and also “Papa”, is abusing vulnerable young women for his sexual gratification while endangering the victims. The proof much with a full video documentary, reveals that women have been take advantage of by the man of the cloth who claims to preach holiness. The women are told if they ever question the preacher they will be cursed by God.
One woman in her twenties (in Zimbabwe), was soon after a slopper, forced to vocalise a denial in front of a camera as she said that the preacher did not rape her. But the same woman would in a different conversation with Angel’s Zimbabwe based former Chief of Staff, Terrence Madiro, acknowledge that she slept with the preacher. She affirmed when reminded, “you are the ones who were banged, lets hope it was done when his health was well.”
In another case to do with another congregant based in the UK, Angel approached the woman, (Name Withheld), via the microblogging website Twitter and also via the Whatsapp network between the 10th July and October 2014, when he demanded of the woman to send a nude picture of her. He was throughout the period of his luring addressing himself saying “It’s me Papa” when he also told the woman to inform him what “sex position” she prefers.
“Tell me what sex position you would like me to do you,” he wrote. Several times he would pleasure himself on the woman from midnight all the way up to 9am.
Meanwhile the digital communication records have been fully corroborated with the Twitter company for IP(internet protocol) authenticity. Although Angel attempted to destroy the records in their entirety, ZimEye.com was able to retrieve the full data cache including that from the Whatsapp network…

Biti To Become President of Renewal, Report Claims

The MDC Renewal Team is this weekend holding its elective congress which will see the party electing its substantive leaders as insider reports suggest that Tendai Biti, the secretary general has been nominated unopposed and will take over the party as interim leader Sipepa Nkomo deputises him.
The splinter group from the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC will at the three day long congress which starts on the 21st of august up to the 23rd is also going to adopt and unveil the Party’s name, symbol and logo.
“We are also going to unveil the Party’s Key Policies and our much awaited economic blue print we have called Holistic Program for Economic Transformation (HOPE) which proposes real solutions to challenges that Zimbabwe is facing today,” Jacob Mafume the party’s spokesperson told ZimEye.com on Monday.
While avoiding the Biti issue, Mafume continued saying, “this is the platform which the party is going to unveil all its democratic process such as the Party’s Constitution we will unveil the our electoral demands document an Agenda for the Restoration and Rehabilitation of Electoral Sustainability (ARREST ) and the roadmap we are going to follow as a way forward”.
Mafume said the congress will run under the theme Reclaiming Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile a report that Biti is taking over the party gripped the movement and as at Monday afternoon, insiders were jostling for posts.
“We know Advocate Biti is taking over and no one can question that,” one male member said. Their claims were not officially corroborated at the time of writing. Efforts to reach Mr Biti for a comment were fruitless at the time of writing.

Chaos as TM Extricates Lobels Bread

In what will affect the supply of bread countrywide, TM supermarkets have extricated all bread orders from Lobels Bread, all because of rival competitors who have invaded with bulging discounts.
In a memo sent to the entire supermarket’s branches referenced “Bargain Bonanza” from one of its directors Mr Water Stephen, Lobels bread orders have been suspended for two months.
“Please note that from Monday 3 August till 30 September 2015 you will be not able to order Lobels bread. This is an agreement with the Bakers Inn and the buying team as they have purchased a vehicle for bargaining Bonanza. You can resume ordering on the 01/10/15,” read the memo which was seen by ZimEye.com.
The ban according to the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe which was written to TM, has not only affected Lobels but the entire milling industry by reducing flour production.
“Consequently due to loss of volumes, Lobels Bread has begun reducing its flour intake from local millers. This sudden development is significantly affecting local millers in respect of reduced flour output left with access raw material and in some cases has to reduce working hours,” Tafadzwa Musarara wrote to the TM Chief executive and copied to the Minister of Industry and Commerce Mike Bimha and the National Barkers Association at the weekend.
Musarara said the ban also deprives the consumers of their brand choices.
“We respectfully submit that the decision only to bar Lobels Bread during this promotion is unfair, illegal and bears serious consequences to the entire bread chain”.

Uebert Angel Dying of HIV+ AIDS -Church

Fugitive preacher and abuser of women, Uebert Angel is dying of HIV AIDS, the preacher’s church staff members claim.
This follows an exclusive investigation by ZimEye.com for over several months into the man of the cloth now fully revealed as really a “man of the broth” as ZimEye.com prepares to offload a full video documentary expose’ on him.
Angel, real name Mudzanire has avoided journalists seeking his comment on the explosive matter.
His former Chief of Staff Terrence Madiro has however laid bare issues secretly discussed among members behind church walls.
Madiro tells a woman allegedly abused by Angel, “We will just hope that you earlier girls are well and we assume that perhaps that you were banged during the time he was still safe.” She (NN) reveals to Mr Terrence Madiro, (TM) she has something private she needs to tell the man. FULL INTERVIEW:
TM: We will just hope that you earlier girls are well and we assume that perhaps that you were banged during the time he was still safe.
NN: Safe, what are you trying to say?
TM: LAUGH
NN: Are you saying he is not well or what?
TM: I just said safe, I never said that he is not well.
NN: So which safe are you talking about then?
TM: Safe in that you can appease yourself that since he started on you, you were not touched by later dangers.
NN: What exactly?
TM: I mean catching the great disease, you never know.
NN: PAUSE. It’s very difficult and hard.
Terrence I have something to tell you but I am not sure if I can trust you.
TM: If you fail to trust me, remember I once looked for you at 3am, could I turn again to compromise you?
NN: I did say remember as I was shocked if you had come to threaten me, or you have come to talk to me.
TM: Hah no way, I never said or did anything to hurt you.
NN: By the way tell me about those messages we hear which are floating on Whatsapp. What’s going on?
TM: Which messages now?
NN: Someone is laying out several points on Angel.
TM: I haven’t see it. Let me in on it
NN: Ah the person is even saying she wants to write a book.
TM:Who is it?
NN:I don’t know but the person is from Spirit Embassy.
TM: What about the issue you want to reveal to me?
NN: Ah I hear that Bev has grown thin, what’s going on?
TM: Bev is it not an issue of stress? She has tended to watch her weight.
NN: Mhn!, I don’t think the level it has reached is still one of watching her weight.
TM: Is it now one of the great disease?
NN: I don’t know.
TM: Don’t speak to me in riddles.
NN: LAUGH.
TM: I am not playing up Terrence, I am asking you in all honesty as I am really concerned.
TM: Ah no, you just want to play with me here. Just tell me what you know. Why do you have to hide something that is now being talked the world over?
NN: You can say that again my friend there is nothing more someone like me Nyarai can still say, this person has blown everything into the open on his own.
TM: Yes..
NN: He used to lose his mind and pour everything out..
TM: You people used to be told about the Ruvimbos and the like.
TM: But you would then go and then leak to Lewis.
NN: Oh no I am telling you the truth. Who else was close?
TM: Mai Mutasa? Who else?

Mnangagwa Humiliated In Mutare |BREAKING NEWS

Dead end for the croc that ate the hippo?
Staff Reporter
Running to Mutare full of bubble hoping to get a thunderous reception of thousands of people, Vice President, Emmerson “Ngwena” Munangagwa was shocked to find only a handful of ZANU PF supporters waiting for him.

Empty Sakubva Stadium by 2pm yesterday... as Munangagwa came in. Journalists were barred from taking photos after the VP arrived.
Empty Sakubva Stadium by 2pm yesterday… as Munangagwa came in. Journalists were barred from taking photos after the VP arrived.

Traveling in the company of Ministers Andrew Langa and Oppah Muchinguri and a huge delegation of ZANU PF officials all the way from Harare it would have made better sense had they remained in Harare and held their meeting there as Mnangagwa’s team just about out numbered the people attending the “rally” at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.
The Vice President had been despatched to the eastern province capital to try and resolve issues of factionalism in the ruling party in the province. The impasse between a faction believed to be backing expelled party Vice President Joyce Mujuru and the one still favouring declared life President Robert Mugabe has seen the ruling party totally collapse in the province.
Expelled Mujuru has literally taken over control of the province and the message was sent loud and clear to Vice President Munangagwa and his crew sent from Harare. The rally which was meant to start at 10:00 am only saw the Harare delegation enter the empty Stadium as late as 2:00 pm with just under 200 people in attendance.
At about midday when it was evident that people were not going to attend the meeting, members of the ZANU PF youth league were sent out to close the nearby flea markets and force the vendors to the stadium to make numbers for Munangagwa and crew who had been waiting for the crowd to get bigger for over two hours before entering the Stadium. The move only managed to bring in no more than a handful people to the huge venue.
A street opinion survey conducted by a ZimEye.com revealed that the people were indeed aware that the country’s Vice President who is also the Acting President was around town and scheduled to address the gathering at the stadium but decided to deliberately snub him to send a message of discontent to both the ruling party and government.
“We knew the Vice President was around but why should we waste our time to go and listen to the usual slogans from people who have failed us and don’t bring us food to the table,” said one Tich Moyo a vendor at the nearby flea market.
One senior ZANU PF official who would not be named told the correspondent that the people deliberately snubbed the Vice President to confirm to the party that Manicaland Province has been taken over by the Mujuru faction which is awaiting to officially launch a new political party before the end of the year.
Several senior ZANU PF leaders and legislators from Manicaland Province have either been dismissed from the party or suspended for their alleged links to Mujuru. The provincial coordinating committee has also experienced several restructurings as the party desperately tries to reestablish it’s standing in the province.

Zwelithini’s Secret Sneak Into Zimbabwe for Brother’s Wedding

South Africa and Zulu King Zwelithini plots to secretly sneak into Zimbabwe for his brother’s wedding, ZimEye.com can reveal.
Up until the State Media broke the news that Zwelithini was on his way to Zimbabwe, the South Africa based organisers of the king’s trip to Zimbabwe thought they had it all under control.
Information appearing in South African media points to the direction that indeed a South Africa based Zimbabwean business man was undergoing the process of bringing the controversial king to grace his brother’s wedding in Gwanda at the end of August. Confirmed media reports from South Africa highlight that the businessman Mr Justice Maphosa had indeed approached the Zulu King with an invite to give his brother’s Gwanda wedding a royal blessing.
However, according to the New Age newspaper of South Africa the organisers of the King’s visit to Zimbabwe wanted the matter to be kept a secret and made a low profile visit. While the South African based organisers were still undergoing the process of clearing the king’s visit, local based organisers of the visit led by Pastor Sipho Mhizha of the Gwanda Brethren In Christ Church who will be presiding over the wedding disclosed to the local media that the Zulu King was on his way to Zimbabwe before all the diplomatic procedures to clear the king’s visit were completed.
The Zimbabwean media scoop appear to have muddled up all the preparations of the targeted secret visit of the king as Zimbabweans reacted angrily to the possibility of the King coming to Zimbabwe. Though received with mixed reactions, a majority of the people were against his coming to Zimbabwe following statements he made about foreigners in South Africa which led to very bloody xenophobic clashes in South Africa as citizens wanted foreigners out of their country in support of the king’s statement.
The angry reactions by the people of Zimbabwe prompted the King’s office in South Africa to deny the possibility of the King coming to Zimbabwe. Contacted for a comment by the New Age newspaper after the Royal Office’s decline of the rumours, Pastor Mhizha is said to have changed his previous confirmation that the king was indeed coming to Zimbabwe.
At the time of going to press it remains still unclear if King Zwelithini would still be able to make his way to Zimbabwe amid the resistance exhibited by the people of Zimbabwe. It is still yet to be established if the country’s foreign affairs ministry will clear the King to visit Zimbabwe after he directly blame President Robert Mugabe for the migration of Zimbabweans into South Africa describing him as a failed father.
South African music group, Freshly Ground, was recently refused entry into the country after they recorded a song which described President Robert Mugabe as a failed leader.

“Bomb Explosion”- Thugs Arrested

Robbers who used what residents described as “a bomb” to force break into a Zimpost and TELONE building in Binga last month have been nabbed.
Four suspects were arrested at the Binga tollgate on Friday afternoon on their way driving out of town.
The four are the ones suspected to have broken into the Binga ZIMPOST and TELONE security fence, further broke the burglary bars of the ZIMPOST window using a grinder gaining access. What residents thought was an accident was a violent raid by the robbers at around 3am on Monday 27th July, when they heard what they described as a loud dynamite explosion breaking off the cash safe.
The thugs got away with US$16,400 and left the security guard tied to a tree unhurt.

100 Job Openings In Bulawayo

THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) has embarked on a recruitment drive of teachers in the Bulawayo Metropolitan province to fill vacant posts in five districts. Scores of job seekers thronged the CSC offices at Mhlahlandlela building in Bulawayo last week to submit their applications. Officials said about 100 posts were up for grabs.
The recruitment is expected to reduce the shortage of teachers and beef up the delivery of quality education in the province. Among the applicants are university and college graduates with teaching or non-teaching qualifications. Retired teachers were also encouraged to apply.
Bulawayo Provincial Education Director, Dan Moyo, said on Friday that the vacancies were created following the transfer of some teachers to other provinces.
“A number of teachers have been cleared to transfer to other provinces. This has created vacancies which need to be filled. We need about 100 teachers in our five districts,” said Moyo.
According to an advert dated July 27, 2015, the recruitment is prioritising university graduates with teaching degrees, retired teachers, university graduates with non-teaching degrees, candidates with higher national diplomas and candidates with non-teaching diplomas.
The commission indicated that it would not recognise candidates who hold O and A-Level certificates only.
“Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill relief, temporary and permanent teaching posts that have arisen in the Bulawayo province’s five districts,” reads part of the vacancy announcement.
Applicants were advised to submit applications indicating one district of their choice before August 21, 2015.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education reported that there was a critical shortage of teachers in the country, which has triggered a surge in the pupil to teacher ratio, especially in the rural areas.
The ministry also said there were more qualified teachers for languages than for Mathematics and Science subjects at secondary school level.
However, teachers’ unions have expressed concern on the over 3,000 qualified teachers who quit their jobs at the height of economic problems who are unemployed despite applying for re-employment in the civil service.

Three People Crushed to Death

THREE gold panners were crushed to death at Geelong Mine in West Nicholson while the fourth one was seriously injured during an ill-fated search for gold in a 400 metre deep mineshaft. The bodies of the three men were retrieved yesterday at around 11AM following their death around midnight on Saturday.

Crush horror ..
Crush horror ..
Three of the victims were brothers; two who died Bonnet Phiri, 39 and Milton, 35 and the only survivor Willard, 41, who suffered neck, chest and leg injuries and was admitted to Gwanda Provincial Hospital following the tragic incident. The brothers’ colleague Kenvas Muyambo, 30, is the third fatality.
All the four illegal gold miners hail from Mavago area, Filabusi under Chief Maduna.
Daram Ncube, who was employed at the mine before it was closed told The Chronicle that a rock fell on the four as they were underground.
“They were panning illegally in a disused mine around midnight when the mishap occurred. One of the four miners who survived managed to notify others and he was rescued during the wee hours of yesterday (Sunday) morning. He was complaining of chest, leg and neck injuries and he was rushed to Gwanda hospital,” said Ncube.
He said the mine was closed last year by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development but some gold panners were mining there illegally.
“We reported the incident to the police but they told us they had no authority to instruct ministry officials to retrieve the bodies. Officials from the ministry didn’t turn up so omakorokoza decided to retrieve the bodies themselves,” said Ncube.
He said the illegal gold miners’ relatives turned up to collect the bodies.
Those who witnessed the bodies being retrieved said it was a ghastly sight as the illegal miners were severely crushed.
“One of the bodies was in a bad state. We had to put the remains in a 50 kilogramme sack. We assume that he was standing when the rock fell and it hit him hard from the head and his whole body was crushed. We had to pick up the intestines as well, that’s how bad it was,” said the witness who preferred anonymity.
There was a hive of activity amidst the confusion and grief as the gold panners were moving bags of ore from the mine yesterday. The panners said they were employed by Geelong Mine two years ago, but claimed that there was an ownership dispute that saw the operation being closed. The closure saw some people carrying out illegal mining activity.
An employee at the closed mine, Malachi Sigogo, said police had given all illegal miners and everyone at the mine’s compound 48 hours to vacate the area.
Sigogo said it was unfair that they have been given an ultimatum by the police as they were still employed officially by the mine owners.
“We’re now being treated as criminals yet all along the police knew that we’re here awaiting the re-opening of the mine. Where will we go at such a short notice? We come from different parts of the country and we’re appealing to responsible authorities to save us,” said Sigogo.
The stranded families have already started packing their bags to move out of the compound but most of them said they did not have bus fare to go to their rural homes.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele could not be reached for comment.

Snake Pastor’s Tent Burnt Down

JOHANNESBURG – A group of Soshanguve residents joined the EFF in dismantling and torching the church tent of End of Times Ministries’ controversial pastor Penuel Mnguni.

The party on Sunday marched to the church, having vowed to feed Mnguni snakes and rats, which he feeds his congregants.
However, Mnguni was a nowhere to be seen.
The self-proclaimed pastor’s absence did not stop the EFF from wreaking havoc on the premises.
Members of the party were joined by residents when they tore down the tent in which Mnguni conducts his services, forcing the congregation to disperse.
The EFF says it may not have been able to feed the pastor rats and snakes, but it hopes communities will stop allowing themselves to be taken advantage of.
However, their gestures fell on deaf ears as not long after, a number of congregants were again sprawled on the floor while others started eating trees and leaves.
