OPINION: Marry Chiwenga Prosecution Reveals A Toxic Cocktail Of Corruption, Misogyny And Abuse Of Office

By Thandekile Moyo| In a country where pensioners spend four nights sleeping outside banks to access less than US$5/day, Mary Chiwenga, the wife of Zimbabwe’s vice president, is accused of having ‘externalised’ US$1m to SA and China.

In the past two years, the lives of the poor and working people in Zimbabwe have not improved an iota. A high-profile criminal prosecution of Mary Chiwenga, wife of the vice president, tells us a lot about the spending habits of Zimbabwe’s political elite. Meanwhile, if you walk through any major town in Zimbabwe at night, you will find dozens of people sleeping on the pavements. If you observe carefully, you will notice that many are found outside banking halls. Why and what’s really going on?

Suffer the pensioners

Zimbabwe has been experiencing cash shortages for years. As a result, most urban dwellers now transact electronically using the EcoCashcellphone banking platform or swipe their bank cards. Unfortunately, many people, especially pensioners, most of whom relocated to the rural areas after leaving their jobs, still depend on hard cash to live.DISPLAY ADVERTS

Banks do give cash, but in limited supply – if one is lucky, you can get up to Z$50 a day. That is exactly R50. On 20 November 2019, the state-run newspaper, The Herald, ran a headline that screamed: NSSA increases pension payouts. The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) is the Zimbabwean body that manages pensions. The report said:

“The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) has more than doubled its minimum pensions from $80 to $200 a month, while workers’ compensation scheme minimum pensions have been tripled from $80 to $240.”

This may sound hopeful. Who does not want to hear that their salary has been doubled or trebled? But what this means in real terms is that minimum pensioners payouts have been increased from R80 to R200 a month and workers’ compensation trebled from R80 to R240 a month.

With Z$240 in Zimbabwe, one can go and buy exactly 16 loaves of bread (Z$15 each) or 24 cans of Coca-Cola (Z$10 each) or 13l of petrol (Z$18/l) or, since it’s festive season, a bottle of Robertson sweet red wine from OK Zimbabwe, our biggest supermarket chain “where the nation shops and saves”.

This is what people who saved their pensions with the NSSA get monthly. But this money, at a Z$50 withdrawal a day, can only be withdrawn over four days, if one is lucky. So, because they cannot afford to get into town for four days in a row, many pensioners have no choice but to sleep in the bank queues right outside the bank for at least four days a month.

It is unconscionable what the government is doing to pensioners. NSSA pensions are decided after consultation with Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube. The Z$80 pensioners’ salaries were originally US dollar salaries. With the coming of the bond note, they were pegged at a rate of 1:1 against the US dollar. But on 20 February 2019, Reserve Bank Governor John Mangudya decided to change the local currency to what he named the RTGS dollar and its rate against the USD was to be determined by the markets.

They, however, did not adjust salaries to the new rate.

What this means is according to today’s rates of US$1: RTGS20, a pensioner earning Z$200 should in fact be earning RTGS4,000 or R4,000. The government, through the Reserve Bank, came up with a policy that changed the currency, but did not adjust people’s bank balances and salaries in line with the new rates. This is criminal.

Squander the rich

As this injustice is occurring, the trial of Priscah Mupfumira, a former tourism minister, who was arrested on 25 July 2019 over the US$95-million NSSA scandal has been postponed after she was declared “too depressed” to stand trial.

How depressed are her victims, one wonders.

Now, in a country where pensioners spend four nights sleeping outside banks to access less than US$5/day, Mary Chiwenga, the wife of Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constantine Chiwenga, is accused of having externalised US$1-million to South Africa and China.

Everything about this case stinks.

It is a cocktail of corruption, misogyny and abuse of office. Mary Chiwenga’s husband is accusing her of all these crimes, and that husband is the vice president. He has managed to get the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) embroiled in his marital issues, showing us the extent to which institutions in Zimbabwe are under the influence of politicians. Not only did the vice president manage to get the ZAAC to investigate his wife, he also got the police to arrest and detain her, and who is to say it was not him that ordered the magistrate to remand her in custody?DISPLAY ADVERTS

This is a clear case of abuse of authority. Where does this influence over the judiciary, armed forces and other state institutions start and where does it end?

Let’s be clear, Mary Chiwenga is no angel. In 2018, she sent someone to “talk to me” about my social media posts which she felt painted her and Zanu-PF in a bad light. She advised me to stand down and rather take it from her than have the soldiers pay me a visit.

I refused to be intimidated. A short while later I was fired without warning from my job at a government-funded publishing house.

I admit I step on many government toes with my writing, but I will forever wonder to what extent her threats were linked to my firing. Mary Chiwenga failed to manage the power that came with being married to an army general cum vice president. Many do not feel sorry for her for what is happening, but for the sake of justice and constitutionality, we cannot condone what the vice president is doing to his wife.

The nature of the allegations against Mary Chiwenga tells a story of a family that had access to millions of dollars. Mary Chiwenga is accused of externalising US$1-million. Where on Earth did a civil servant’s wife get US$1-million? How much do vice presidents earn that they could have access to that kind of money? How much did Constantine Chiwenga earn as an army general?

Pictures of the Chiwengas’ mansion did the rounds on social media after the overthrow of Robert Mugabe, exposing just how rich the general must be. If ZACC was truly in the business of investigating corruption, would it not have gone further than arresting Mary Chiwenga and dug deeper into the source of the US$1-million? Do the Chiwengas’ earnings justify their wealth?

Let us look at how Mary Chiwenga is said to have externalised the money. Had she smuggled the money to South Africa stuffed in suitcases we wouldn’t bat an eyelid, we would think she is just another common criminal. What is shocking is that Mary Chiwenga is accused of having externalised this money through formal channels. She waltzed into CBZ bank, past pensioners and others who had probably been in the queue for days, and somehow managed to get the bank to transfer hundreds of thousands of US dollars to banks outside Zimbabwe. This is enraging to many Zimbabweans whose US dollar bank balances were changed overnight to a worthless local currency.

Mzembi Claims Credit For Attempting To Stop November 2017 Coup

By A Correspondent| Former Tourism minister Walter Muzembi says he tried to stop the military from implementing the November 2017 coup that ended 37 years of the late President Robert Mugabe’s rule.

Speaking on a social media conversation Mzembi said:

“In hindsight you should applaud me for attempting to stop the coup, it was in the making, and we saw it coming and paid dearly for seeing it coming and warning the then President.

Do you think that was criminal or those that wanted to wrestle power unconstitutionally were the criminals? Where are you now with the country? The MDC marched for the coup are they any happier now?”

Mzembi also said the military invented stories to justify the coup which were choreographed.

“Kupemberera n’anga inobata mai!  And do you believe all those inventions and stories that justified the coup like Chiwenga attempted arrest at the airport, the choreography that led to the coup, please think deeper.”

Mzembi is one of the former Mugabe ministers who are now linked to the formation of a new party.

I Am Back To Deal With You, Chiwenga Warns Terror Gangs

VICE-PRESIDENT Constantino Chiwenga has warned machete-wielding artisanal miners who are terrorising communities and other miners that they will face the full wrath of the law.

Addressing a handful of people at the International Day of Co-operatives in Bindura yesterday, the Vice-President said he was back and healthy and would ensure that machete-wielding illegal miners were brought to book.

“I would like to thank you all for praying for me during my sickness. Let me assure you that I am back and very much healthy,” Chiwenga said.

“As government, we are saying no to machete-wielding miners, hatidi mabhemba (we don’t want machetes)! Let me repeat, no to machete-wielding miners. The law will descend heavily on (the rogue) artisanal miners. We cannot afford to have illegal miners wreaking havoc in the country,” Chiwenga thundered.

He urged illegal miners to join co-operatives and regularise their operations in a bid to develop the nation.

“The government recognises the existence of artisanal miners and we are urging them to join co-operatives so that the country moves forward in the mining sector,” Chiwenga added.

The VP also told the gathering that hunger is stalking the nation due to a poor harvest and Mashonaland Central province, formerly the bread basket of the country, has not been spared.

“I was briefed by the Minister of State for Mashonaland Central (Monica Mavhunga) that hunger has tormented the province. Yes, we know hunger is there and as the government, we have formed a committee being spearheaded by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sibusiso Moyo, Minister of Agriculture, Perrance Shiri and Minister of Finance, Mthuli Ncube, who are busy sourcing for food aid and weekly, the country is receiving food,” he said.

“Let me also assure you that no one will starve under the new dispensation. The government is working flat out to see to it that everyone is fed.”

Chiwenga also said: “We were also told that many schools in Mt Darwin, Muzarabani and Mbire are like fowl runs and should be prioritised because education is key, that is where our future leaders are learning. The government has taken note of that.”

903 Words To Describe VP Chiwenga

My name is Hannington Mubaiwa. And I am an uncle to Marry Chiwenga. It is needless to say that we are very saddened about the manner in which the alleged case for our daughter or on our daughter is being handled.

The Primary Factor in this case is that, behind it everything that is happening is a family matter. We know that when when a family has a disagreement, the husband who is not happy with his wife should approach the parents and discuss the way forward. And this has not been done, it has shown, it shows how Chiwenga despises and condescends on the Mubaiwa family; Because he should have thought, as a strategic man, should have thought about this; I am sure he considered it and found it unnecessary because we don’t have power, so he perceives.

I want to appeal ED Mnangagwa to intervene in this case in such a way that our daughter is handled with a level of Dignity and Protection that every citizen should have and coming from a higher authority like that, they need to honour her. She is the wife of a Vice President.

The People In Govt, None Of Them Deserves Honour.

She needs to be respected and honoured regardless of anything else around because the people in government today around today none of them deserves honour when you come to think about it, but they are still in these positions. The best you can do is for her to be allowed house arrest for now. There is nowhere she can go, but there is need to be a level of dignity. She has children five of them young ones; this is child abuse and it is illegal for Chiwenga to come and take and to organise for the children to be taken; we don’t want to say and think he didn’t know about this. He does; he is using military power and political power to abuse the police and the anti-corruption system to get back on his wife. Think about this. The case that is at hand, it just does not make much sense.

Intention to murder the husband.
As far as the intention to murder the husband – it does not make sense at all; and the rest of them, the externalization; I mean it’s a laughable matter. Because in Zimbabwe Mr President ED Mnangagwa even though you know yourself there is a lot of externalization that took place; there were many people from many nations who externalised millions of dollars and you didn’t do anything about it. But presidency is being a custodian of the freedom and safety and liberty of the citizens, and my daughter is being denied that right now.

Chiwenga is acting outside the power of the Zim govt.

And we need to look at this case it’s a very serious case it’s a precedent, that really, that Chiwenga is acting outside the power of the Zimbabwean government right now he is a rebel of the Zimbabwean government. Because we understand that he came into Zimbabwe, and was received by the Chinese government that is a total disrespect of the Territorial Integrity of Zimbabwe and it is a total disrespect and dishonor of the sovereignty of Zimbabwe. No country should ever be in 2019 be exposed to hegemony or Imperial economic colonialism that has been expressed by China.

Chiwenga was aided by China to secretly fly into Zimbabwe without informing Zim Airspace authorities, ED.

Chiwenga has basically externalised the whole nation to China; And that is treason it’s a serious matter, coming into the country without consulting; without informing the president what authority was he using?

What Zimbabweans need to understand is number one we are not saying that our daughter did or didn’t but the manner in which vindication [vindictiveness?] is being used it’s against the international bill of rights it’s against the Zimbabwean Bill of Rights, it should not happen.

You need to understand that hegemony authority of one country over another once it has been instituted the estate of our Descendants has been captured, they will find it very difficult to detach themselves from it. The Chinese themselves they say according to the words of …. he said that China will never accept interference by other countries in its internal affairs.

He said the key principles governing the new international order should be non interference in other countries’ internal affairs and social systems, and China has done just that, and he goes ahead to say hegemony and power politics which have emerged in new form can not last long allowing a few countries to monopolize everything is they have done for years has never solved any problems and never will and I want to ask the people of Zimbabwe to be careful that this is a bad precedent.

It’s a precedent, it’s happening in Zimbabwe it’s going to happen to all other countries. This is about power, this is about anti constitutionalism; this is about anarchy that Chiwenga is introducing; this power, this authority. He was involved in the murder of Zimbabweans in 2018 of August; he is responsible, in January he is responsible it is him.

That man is a military pugilistic individual that should not be allowed near power. President Mnangagwa, I request that you take this matter and give this lady my daughter Mary Mubaiwa the dignity that she deserves, thank you

CHRISTMAS ISN’T CHRISTIAN: THE PAGAN ROOTS OF THE WINTER HOLIDAY

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA

The world over people have lived on the hope of another Christmas.

In some cultures years are measured by Christmas.

People are super sensitive when it comes to Christmas, and that’s understandable. Much of the world has been taught that the holiday marks the birth of the Christian savior, Jesus Christ, but that’s simply wrong. Jesus wasn’t white — and he was never born in December.

Historical evidence suggests that Jesus, the person, was born in the springtime — but that Christian missionaries adopted Yule celebrations in order to appease and convert pagans who were deeply, spiritually attached to their own holidays.

Early Christians were also fascinated by the rural, rustic pagan traditions.

“Christians of that period are quite interested in paganism,” says Philip Shaw, a researcher of early Germanic languages and Old English at Leicester University.

“It’s obviously something they think is a bad thing, but it’s also something they think is worth remembering. It’s what their ancestors did.”
The two most notable pagan winter holidays were Germanic Yule and Roman Saturnalia.
Christian missionaries gave these holidays a makeover and they are now known to us as Christmas.

Saturnalia was a lawless, drunken time in Rome where literally anything was okay — this was the original Purge, in which laws were suspended for a brief stretch of time.

Saturn, the Roman god of agriculture, liberation and time (and parties!), was celebrated at what is perhaps the most famous of the Roman festivals, the Saturnalia, It was a time of feasting, role reversals, free speech, gift-giving and revelry. (read: gender-bending sex, drinking, telling people off, trading gifts and doing whatever you want).

After solstice, the darkest night of the year, the renewal of light and the coming of the new year was celebrated in the later Roman Empire at the Dies Natalis of Sol Invictus, the “Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun,” on December 25.Scholars have
connected the Germanic and Scandanavian celebration to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin and the pagan Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht.

Yule-tide was traditionally celebrated during the period from mid-November to mid-January.
Nordic countries use Yule to describe their own Christmas with its religious rites, but also for the holidays of this season. Present-day customs such as the Yule log, Yule goat, Yule boar, Yule singing, and others stem from the original pagan Yule, but are used in Christmas celebrations now, especially within Europe.

As leaders were baptized and converted, they shifted their traditional celebrations covertly, as not to upset the chieftans. Yule was traditionally celebrated three days after Midwinter, but shifted to reflect Christian dates.

Modern Wiccans and other neopagan religions often celebrate Yule as well. In most forms of Wicca, it’s celebrated at winter solstice as the rebirth of the Great horned hunter god, who is viewed as the newborn solstice sun. Some celebrate with their covens while others celebrate at home.

Everybody’s got someone like Santa Claus. He’s primarily based on St. Nicholas, a Fourth Century Lycian bishop from modern-day Turkey. Ol’ Nicky wasn’t a bad guy. One story says that he met a kind, impoverished man who had three daughters.

St Nick presented all three of them with dowries so that they weren’t forced into a life of prostitution, as dowries were expected to “pay off” families to take on the daughters.

Sinterklaas is the Dutch figure and Odin is the Norse god that Santa resembles. It wasn’t just Santa or men who did the gift-giving in those myths.

There’s also the legend of La Befana, a kind Italian woman who leaves treats for children on the “Good” list, and the Germanic Frau Holle, who treats women during Solstice.

Caroling actually began as the Germanic and Norse traditions of was sailing.

Wassailers went from home to home, drunk off of their asses, singing to their neighbors and celebrating their “good health.” Well, except for the hangovers.
The traditional wassail beverage was a hot mulled cider, spiked with alcohol or fermented.

WREATHS
Romans loved wreaths and decorated everything with Laurel.

Holly, ivy and evergreen are the more popular modern options today, and each one holds significance. Egyptians didn’t have evergreens, so they used palm fronds to celebrate Winter Solstice.

Christians love holly because the red berries symbolize the blood of Christ and the pointy leaves symbolize the crown of thorns. However, the advent of holly decor was around long before Christianity. Pre-Christian pagan groups believed that the Holly King did battle with the Oak King. They also thought holly could drive off evil spirits.

Romans, of course, were into laurel wreaths, but laurel was not easily procured throughout the northern reaches of the empire. Instead of laurel, they used evergreens.

So in a bid to keep the community they lived in happy the missionaries adopted the pagan holidays and through the ages the spirit of Christmas has moved on.
Celebrating Christmas has never been Christian.

Police Officer Secretly Takes Wife’s Undergarments To Sangoma

A Bulawayo-based cop was shamed for “stealing” his wife’s underwear supposedly to take them to a sangoma for ritual purposes.

The disgrace was made public at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Locardia Hove made an application for a protection order against her husband, Freedom Hove, a police officer, accusing him of being violent towards her.

Locardia claimed her abusive husband based at ZRP Nkulumane was also in the habit of assaulting her in front of their children aged five and eight years respectively.

“I am the applicant in this matter and the respondent Freedom Hove is my husband. He is based at ZRP Nkulumane. He is of a violent nature and he is always assaulting me in front of our children and this affects them emotionally.

“He also took my documents and underwear without my consent.

He went on to accuse me of being a witch and banned me from cooking for our kids saying I might poison them,” complained Locardia, adding that she was now living in fear of her husband as they were no longer in talking terms.

Spiritedly begging for a protection order to be granted in her favour, Locardia further said Freedom was no longer sleeping at home.

“He is now coming home after two days only to change and whenever he comes, he will be violent,” she said.

In his response, Freedom didn’t deny his wife’s accusations before he consented to the granting of the protection order in her favour.

By his consent presiding magistrate Jeconiah Ncube granted the protection order which refrains Freedom from verbally and physically assaulting his wife.

He also ordered him not take his wife’s property without her consent.B-Metro

Kawondera Finally Speaks On Ex-Wife Saga

It never rains but pours for incarcerated Second Lady Marry Chiwenga following sensational claims made by ex-husband Shingi Kawondera, implicating her and nephew Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure in ‘company theft’ allegations, Zim Morning Post can reveal.Shingi Kawondera and his four kids

Kawondera told Zim Morning Post last week. that Pioneer Gases (Ginimbi’s company) was his brainchild and he was the sole owner and founder.

He alleges that his ex-wife Marry connived with Ginimbi to forge papers and elbow him out by illegally changing the directorship.

“I am the sole owner of Pioneer Gases that Ginimbi claims to be his.

“I have the papers to prove it.

“What happened is Ginimbi was my friend at the time and he connived with Marry to doctor paperwork to remove me from the directorship, but Mwari ndewemunhu wese haamwire ku Dreams (God is for us all)

“I was based in Cyprus and had the resources to fund the project,” Kawondera said.

Kawondera could not however produce documentary evidence and company registration certificate to prove his claims.

Genius 'Ginimbi' Kadungure
Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure

Ginimbi scoffed at these claims describing them as ‘wild and crazy’.

He explained how he solely started Pioneer Gases and enlisted himself and his mother as directors.

“This is shocking and absurd, surely don’t be used by people who have their issues and behaving like they are mad.

“You know the history of how I build my business yourself and you have written about it long back.

“I am self made and when I left school, I started doing gases and of course help from some experienced people in the game who recognized my hard work until I decided to register Pioneer Gases,”Advertisementexplained Ginimbi.

Ginimbi further stated that his relationship with Kawondera was not bordered on any business deals, but it was purely based on partying.

“I met Shingi (Kawondera) way after I had already started doing business.

“Ndakasangana naye mustreet and ndanga ndatoshanda ndatobhoo (I met him in the streets and I was already financially stable).

“Our relationship was purely based on partying and his claims are like say for example, anyone can wake up one day and say the car that Genius is driving is mine, its nonsense,” fumed Ginimbi.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson Marry Chiwenga
Marry Chiwenga

A quick search at the registrar of companies confirmed that Genius Kadungure and others were directors of Pioneer Gases.

He challenged Kawondera to institute legal proceedings if he stands on solid ground.

Pioneer Gases imports and distributes LP gas and it also has set footprints in Botswana and South Africa.

Meanwhile, in a previous interview with this reporter in 2010, Ginimbi revealed that soon after school at the age of 17, he engaged in small business transactions.

While residing in Harare’s Sunningdale density suburb, he became a middle-man securing gas for domestic users.

Through a friend who worked for a top airlines company, he quickly secured his first major contract to supply gas to the commercial, industrial, public and retail sectors.

This breakthrough led to the birth of Pioneer Gases.

He has been assisted in planning and logistics by his friend and most trusted lieutenant known as Kit Kat, at least according to him then.

No To Cosmetic Reforms -MDC

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) led by Nelson Chamisa will push for electoral and political reforms if the envisaged dialogue with the ruling ZANU PF party comes to fruition.

A party insider who spoke to
Busines Times said the party does not want a power-sharing arrangement, but a Transitional Authority that will lead the country towards a credible election in 2023. The unnamed official is quoted as saying:

We need genuine political and electoral reforms that are wholesome as we don’t want piecemeal reforms. We also need independent commissions and adequate constitutional amendments.

We can’t continue to have a cycle of disputed elections as what has been happening in the past. The MDC can only participate in the elections with genuine reforms.

The opposition is not seeking power-sharing arrangement with any party but wants reforms and also a National Transitional Authority which the modalities can be worked out.

In 2009, a government of unity was formed, with Robert Mugabe as President, while
Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC was Prime Minister.

The coalition government, however, failed to implement several reforms that were agreed on during its four years of existence.-Business Times

Letter To Advocate Fadzayi Mahere

Dear Ms. Mahere,

I hope I find you well dear girl-child. Your interview with Trevor Ncube made me a proud mother. Not to repeat all you have already said in that groundbreaking interview: You are indeed a very talented person, a passionate activist, one of the finest young women politicians out there who know their activism on their fingertips. This is the calibre of women we want to see taking this country forward. Where we may have failed dismally, you have the energy to finish our journey to freedom successfully, a responsibility that we took over from our mothers and fathers. Fadzai, you have it all in your profession as a lawyer, your academics and a politician to lead this nation to dizzy heights.

What was striking in your interview was your answer as to why you joined MDC-Alliance. Your conviction is that you did not need to split the opposition by fighting the regime as splitter groups but as a united force. I am sure that decision was informed judging from the vast experience you already have: you have a very impressive CV and international exposure. You have served in international bodies and institutions to get the in-depth knowledge you have. In that interview you shone out. You will indeed inspire many young girls to do more: to my delight.

Coming to some parts of your interview once more; you say you joined the party that is not perfect. The women in MDC-Alliance still have a lot to work on because in that party woman are seriously short-changed. Having seen your vibrant talk to the end with Trevor I have no doubt in my mind that those will be the areas of interest to turn tables around and revolutionalize your party on gender issues. Women still rate second in MDC-Alliance; I am sure that you and other young women will correct those gender imbalances. Women are indeed second class citizens, first in MDC-Alliance and in the country as a whole. I am dead sure you are going to play your part well.

What stood out in that interview once more is the courage you displayed throughout. This is what makes a genuine and authentic activist and politician. You are young, intelligent, eloquent, articulate and courageous woman. I cannot ask for more in a young woman of your age. We are not young anymore dear Fadzai, the hope that we shall leave the fight for justice and gender equality on your hands like yours and indeed other women will make me smile in my grave. Thank you for making my day mtanami/mwana wangu. I really love you. You have my blessing. We are slowly passing on the baton to you young women to do more for the revolution, remembering too that the women’s fight is a double fight all the time: it is fighting for the regime change in Zimbabwe and at the same breath the women’s rights will not be given to us on a silver plate but a bitter fight will be needed to change this patriarchal thinking and a sense of entitlement in our societies.

Before I pen off dear Fadzi, I wish to remind you that in our own ways, abilities and possibilities we need to be able to fight for other women irrespective of their political affiliations and close connections to the powers that be. I am having Mrs. Marry Chiwenga in mind. She has made many mistakes during the time she was wife to the General Chiwenga admittedly. However, at such hard times she finds herself in, we need to see a mother in her and a sister who needs our emotional solidarity. Her crimes compared to all other criminals looting the state coffers, she did not deserve the treatment she got from her husband; exposing her in that manner. Remember too that, that humiliation can happen to anyone of us women. The estranged husband General Chiwenga is using ZACC to punish her but on the other hand, forgetting that she is mother to his children! Curiously the head of ZACC department is a woman!

Our solidarity is not to condom corruption Marry is accused of, but the way the state was used to punish her as if she is the big fish in the scheme of corruption. Marry is a complete victim of circumstances still beyond our comprehension. Here, I ask for women’s solidarity and nothing more. Mrs. Marry Chiwenga is unwell and her children need their mother at Christmas to them that motherly comfort and her presence will give smile to their growing up faces.

Solidarity with other women is something I have learnt as a politician here in Germany. Just like you: I lost parliamentary EU elections in May this year and I know how it feels to lose elections. I was on a Feminist Party” The Women” ticket that taught me among many other things: global solidarity with women in distress. I am deeply proud of this insight. We can do a lot in uplifting other women and give each other hope, inspiration and courage to fight especially gender issues, a global menace.

Please, for all those who did not see this “Conversation with Trevor/Adv. Fadzai Mahere, I would recommend all especially women to watch the video to the end. It is a refreshing well articulated, intelligently presented interview to recommend. They don’t call you Fadzai for nothing!

Your mother in spirit

Mangudya Injects More Cash To Avert Festive Cash Crisis

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe injected an additional $20 million of banknotes into circulation in the last week, with much of it channelled to the People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB), used to distribute a lot of pensions.

The funds are expected to marginally ease the demand for physical cash.

This was said by Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube in an interview on the sidelines of a familiarisation tour of the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) head office in Harare yesterday.

“In the last week alone, we have put in about $20 million,” said Prof Ncube. “We targeted POSB specifically, but not exclusively, because we know that a lot of our ordinary citizens are banking with them and it’s important that they have all the cash that they need.”

Depositors  yesterday said they still faced challenges obtaining cash from banks, adding that they observe the situation was getting worse.

Economists say while the RBZ was right to increase cash in circulation given the high demand, it would take time before cash queues start to subside.

The recommended cash levels in circulation are 10 percent to 15 percent of money supply, which is presently estimated at $19 billion.

This means Zimbabwe requires about $2 billion in physical cash, yet there is about $720 million in circulation.

Since the introduction of new notes and coins in November, about $120 million has been injected into circulation.

The RBZ introduced new $2 coins and $2 and $5 notes following a surge in demand for cash in the informal sector which operates largely on a cash basis or offers discounts for cash.

Informal traders say that this allows them to buy black market foreign exchange at a discount.

As Unity Day, Christmas and New Year holidays start tomorrow, there has been a sharp rise in the demand for cash across the country for bus fares and for spending in rural shops which often seek a high premium for mobile money transfers.

This has seen long queues at banks, amid reports that some unscrupulous bank workers were diverting personal withdrawals to the informal cash market where it is sold at about 30 percent premiums, half what was usual a month ago, but still steep.

Prof Ncube said as more banknotes were being injected into circulation for the convenience of the transacting public, bigger denominations will start circulating in the first quarter of next year.

Turning to IPEC management and staff, Prof Ncube said Government was aware of the work underway regarding the revaluation of pensions in light of currency changes in 2009 and this year.

He said Government will be supporting the insurance regulator to make sure industry players did the right thing.

Prof Ncube said there was need for IPEC to engage in public awareness programmes on the goings-on in the sector.

“I guess there is need to do more awareness in terms of the public; educate the consumer about what is going on in the industry,” he said.

Mnangagwa Dates POLAD Members At His Kwekwe Farm, What Will They Discuss?

Mnangagwa and Khupe

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa will tomorrow meet members of the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) at his Kwekwe farm.

The government confirmed the meeting, saying it was centred around production and will include a tour of the farm.

Polad is made up of the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe, the National Constitutional Assembly led by Lovemore Madhuku and many other small parties.

The meeting comes as MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has called for the non-inclusion of Polad in talks between his party and Zanu PF, saying the coming in of the actors will confuse the process as they have their own agendas.

Polad was created by Mnangagwa after the disputed 2018 elections to dialogue with losers in the presidential poll.

Chamisa, however, refused to be part of the process, saying meaningful dialogue should be between his party and Zanu PF and should address the legitimacy issue first.

While the MDC leader has refused to recognise Mnangagwa as the legitimate President, Polad members have, however, recognised him and are working with him.

The meeting comes days after the visit by former South African President Thabo Mbeki to initiate dialogue among political actors.

“The President has invited all members of Polad for them to appreciate what he is doing at the farm,” presidential spokesperson George Charamba said yesterday.

What Is Mbeki Seeking To Mediate?

By Edmund Kudzayi

“What is Mbeki seeking to mediate? Let’s define the problem.

By his own words, the election issue was settled by the courts.

POLAD is hard at work. Economy is rebounding, as per the authorities. So where’s the problem?

You can’t mediate where there is no dispute.”

Govt Trashes University Fees Hike

Government has dismissed social media messages that universities have raised fees by more than 500 percent.

One of the discredited messages reads: “University of Zimbabwe fees increased to $15 000 per semester. Medicine Faculty to pay $45 000 per semester. Law full time $12 000 and part time $21 500 per semester. The Ministry of Higher education has granted all State Universities and other tertiary institutions authority to raise the fees which had not been raised in tandem with inflation.”

A table of fees purportedly for Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) shows figures ranging between $4 245 and $15 000 while international students are supposed to pay US$3 000.

In a telephone interview yesterday, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Amon Murwira said the messages circulating on social media were meant to cause despondency because Government had not approved any fees increases.

“It is shocking, I saw the messages on twitter and I was so disappointed with social media,” he said.

“These messages are causing despondency in the country. Who can afford to pay $45 000 for fees in this country. I mean what will be your salary?

“We have not even adjusted anything on the ground. Even if we increase the fees it will not be that much, it is just a pack of lies. No committee has sat to discuss fees structures for next year.”

Prof Murwira said the Government indicated fees will be adjusted at the end of the austerity period, but nothing had been said as of now.

In July, Government warned universities against raising fees without approval, amid reports that some varsities countrywide had attempted to unilaterally hike fees.

Universities increased fees for parallel and block students, leaving out conventional ones whose public outcry usually draws attention.

Prof Murwira, at the time, said fees for all undergraduate categories remained unchanged.

“All fees to do with undergraduate studies have not been increased as such communication passes through my office,” he said then. “I have not signed an ordinance to that effect.

“Fees remain the same until we put alternative payment methods as we are working on introducing grants.

Wife In Trouble As Family Accuses Her Of Taking Part In Hubby’s Death

THE family of a South Africa-based Zimbabwean businessman who was shot dead in a suspected hit in the neighbouring country has accused his wife of involvement in the killing.

They said Bheki Ndlovu (44) had many problems in his 25 years of marriage with Mrs Nomazwe Ndlovu that could have contributed to his death. In interviews yesterday, two family members said Mrs Ndlovu also cheated on him, recording herself in 66 videos while doing so with a man named as Jabulani Ncube aka Christopher Tshabalala.

Ncube’s wife told Chronicle that if her husband killed the businessman, he must pay for the crime.

Bheki, an umalayitsha was gunned down while fuelling his vehicle at a BP service station in Johannesburg on Saturday.  The incident happened just a week after his wife allegedly sent him a threatening message that one of them would die.

“Just a week ago he received a message from his wife. She claimed that it was going to be either Bheki or her who would die. We have the threatening message. We haven’t been able to talk to our daughter-in-law since his death.”

“We don’t know what really transpired but we will share what we know. Two weeks ago, our daughter-in-law came to Zimbabwe counting and registering properties that Bheki had. She counted the shops, houses and livestock one by one something that she had never done during the subsistence of their marriage, we don’t know why,” said a Mr Ndlovu, Bheki’s uncle who declined to give his first name.

They said their in-laws have not even visited their home to pay condolences after Bheki was shot dead.

“Our daughter-in-law’s mother just said she would only come when his body arrives which is very strange as we were not fighting with them,” said Mrs Ndlovu, Bheki’s aunt.

They said Ndlovu caught his wife several times cheating on him but he would forgive her insisting that he still loved her.

“As it is, we have 66 sex videos where she recorded herself cheating on him with this man called Jabu (Jabulani Ncube aka Christopher Tshabalala). We think this illicit relationship with Jabu was the most troublesome on their marriage. She did not just cheat with him, around 2017 she cheated on him with a pastor from a local church (name supplied) who committed suicide after their illicit affair was exposed. I think our son was a victim of loving a woman who didn’t love him. He loved his wife but she never loved him,” said Mr Ndlovu, the eldest of Bheki’s uncles and leader of the family.

He accused her of stealing R100 000 from Bheki.

“But again, he forgave her saying he wanted his family intact. While they have this North End suburb house, his wife clandestinely rented a flat in town. We don’t know why. This only came to light after some properties were attached here in the house as she was no longer paying rent. Again, he forgave her. He bought 25 cattle from his in-laws, that he never saw. We tried on several occasions to intervene in their problems but we failed. For between 19 to 25 years of their marriage they had serious marital problems,” said Mr Ndlovu.

“As it stands, we are afraid that the wife can come and claim all their property since she is the surviving spouse. We don’t want the properties as we have our own properties. But we are afraid that she could squander these things and their children will end up living in poverty yet their father worked so hard. He was our son, but in terms of responsibilities, he was our father as well. He looked after all of us.”

Marry Arrest:Chiwenga Accused Of Despising Mubaiwa Family

Farai Dziva|The Mubaiwa family has released a statement about Marry Chiwenga’s arrest and prosecution.

See full statement below recorded by ZimEye.com below :

She is the wife of a Vice President

The People In Govt, None Of Them Deserves Honour

Intention to murder the husband

As far as the intention to murder the husband – it does not make sense at all; and the rest of them, the externalization; I mean it’s a laughable matter.

Because in Zimbabwe Mr President ED Mnangagwa even though you know yourself there is a lot of externalization that took place; there were many people from many nations who externalised millions of dollars and you didn’t do anything about it. But presidency is being a custodian of the freedom and safety and liberty of the citizens, and my daughter is being denied that right now.

Chiwenga is acting outside the power of the Zim govt

And we need to look at this case it’s a very serious case it’s a precedent, that really, that Chiwenga is acting outside the power of the Zimbabwean government right now he is a rebel of the Zimbabwean government.

Because we understand that he came into Zimbabwe, and was received by the Chinese government that is a total disrespect of the Territorial Integrity of Zimbabwe and it is a total disrespect and dishonor of the sovereignty of Zimbabwe. No country should ever be in 2019 be exposed to hegemony or Imperial economic colonialism that has been expressed by China.

Chiwenga was aided by China to secretly fly into Zimbabwe without informing Zim Airspace authorities, ED

President Mnangagwa, I request that you take this matter and give this lady my daughter Mary Mubaiwa the dignity that she deserves, thank you.

However, Efforts to get a comment from the Chinese embassy were fruitless at the time of writing.

Mandi Chimene Fingered In State Land Theft

SELF-EXILED former Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister, Mandiitawepi Chimene, should be investigated on allegations of selling state land at the 120-hectare Fairholme Farm in Mutasa Rural District among other charges.

The recommendation was made by the Commission of Inquiry into the sale of state land around urban areas since 2005. The commission recently presented its report to President Emmerson Mnangagwa who vowed to bring to book land barons who duped home-seekers.

Chimene who is cited with many others has also been accused of selling the land without signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Local Government.

She also stands accused of selling land before fully servicing it and abusing her office ‘then’ in securing the allocation of farm and change of use letter of permissions through ministry officials.

According to the report, one Tonderai George Bandure is accused of abusing his office by issuing the letter of support in the allocation of the farm to Atonstar, a company belonging to Chimene and one Patience Mabota.

The Commission’s report indicates that Chimene was allocated Fairholme Farm under the Model A2 Scheme in 2003, in 2016. She however, applied to the Mutasa rural District Council for change of use of the farm from agricultural to residential.

It is reported the application was granted in March 2016 and the farm was surrendered to the Ministry of Local Government by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture andAdvertisementRural Resettlement.

“A layout plan was prepared by Savanna Land Developers which had entered into an agreement with Atonstar Investments to develop the land,” reads the report.

“The Department of Physical Planning (DPP) approved the layout plan on the 120 hectares of land which would create, 469 residential stands, 16 commercial stands, a flat, school, church, police post and other critical buildings housing much-needed service providers for any developing residential area in September 2016.

Chimene’s Atonstar company through its agent Simple Ventures began selling residential stands pegged at US$20 per square meter while the prerequisites for buying the land meant, home seekers would pay a deposit of US$2 000 and the balance would be paid in instalments ranging from US$150 to US$260 per month.

The land was being sold despite the fact that there was limited infrastructural development in terms of roads, water, electricity and sewer systems.

“The developer merely opened roads which are neither gravelled or tarred, there is no water reticulation and the developer is still engaging Mutare City Council to provide water and there are no electrical connections,” alleges the report.

However, 114 residential stands had already been sold by the time of the inquiry with one occupant and several invaders already living on the land regardless of the development shortcomings.

The residents have long since resorted to buying water and using blair toilets posing health hazards.

Chiwenga Warns Mashurugwi

We Will Not Betray Your Trust- Chamisa

Farai Dziva|MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has declared that the opposition party will not join POLAD.

Chamisa has also said his party’s views on dialogue have not changed.

Chamisa tweeted:
Zimbabwe is in a deep crisis. Only true and holistic reforms will bring about real change. Dialogue must be genuine. Will take no part in POLAD.Our views on the much-desired dialogue remain unchanged.

We seek true change for the people of Zimbabwe. We will never betray your trust!”

State Agents Edit Prof Jonathan Moyo’s Excelgate

By A Correspondent- Suspected State agents have reportedly edited Jonathan Moyo’s book, Excelgate, and produced excerpts which they compiled into a 65-page adulterated book.

Excelgate is a book which purports to reveal how Zimbabwe’s security services, working in cahoots with electoral officials, manipulated the 2018 elections results using an excel spreadsheet.

According to the book, the results that were announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission were far removed from the actual results, which showed that MDC leader Nelson Chamisa won the presidential vote by over 60 per cent.

The “doctored” and watered-down 65-page version has been circulated extensively on social media and security agents reportedly stripped it of critical information which shows how the election was stolen.

Responding to some of his followers on Twitter, in a series of posts, Professor Moyo wrote:

I don’t know their rubbish from 7 July 2019 or what they are hiding with it. But EXCELGATE’S preliminary pages are from i to xxvi (16) pages while the pages in the book’s main section are from 1 to 234. Altogether the book has 260 pages. So their 65 pdf pages are just cow dung!

The 65 pdf pages are A4 bond paper size and the ediots are saying the pages “compress”, meaning the 65 pages reduce or shrink, into 260 book pages. Maiwe. With these kinds of ediots, who needs any ediots?

Peddling a fake 65-page pdf crap which is not a copycat of the real thing is not piracy but desperate criminality by Mnangagwa’s usual criminals who are cornered. Anyone who thinks that President Mbeki is reading that 65-page pdf crap needs a psychiatrist!

Ibbo Mandaza of Sapes Books took to Twitter Saturday morning castigating the malicious campaign against Excelgate by some trolls.

He wrote:

“Sad but malicious that some are trying to de campaign an academic product that is Excelgate by posting fake editing. Read the book to discover that there no such ‘shoddy’ passages

Chiwenga Accused Of Acting Outside Power Of Zim Government

Farai Dziva|The Mubaiwa family has released a statement about Marry Chiwenga’s arrest and prosecution.

See full statement below recorded by ZimEye.com below :

She is the wife of a Vice President

The People In Govt, None Of Them Deserves Honour

Once “Very Powerful” Marry Chiwenga At One Time Threatened To Unleash The Army On A Journalist

Mrs Mary Chiwenga

Embattled wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga threatened to unleash members of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces on a former journalist Thandekile Moyo over a social media post.

Writing about the incident, Moyo said, “In 2018, she sent someone to “talk to me” about my social media posts which she felt painted her and Zanu-PF in a bad light. She advised me to stand down and rather take it from her than have the soldiers pay me a visit.”

The threat by Chiwenga led to the firing of the journalist from work.

“I refused to be intimidated. A short while later I was fired without warning from my job at a government-funded publishing house.

“I admit I step on many government toes with my writing, but I will forever wonder to what extent her threats were linked to my firing. Mary Chiwenga failed to manage the power that came with being married to an army general cum vice president.” Moyo added.

Chiwenga is currently in remand prison for attempted murder, fraud, money laundering and externalisation of foreign currency.

Through her lawyers, Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners, Chiwenga has filed a bail application in respect of the attempted murder charge and an appeal in the same court against the refusal by the Harare Magistrates Courts to grant her bail on Monday on other charges.

In the applications, she denied the charges being levelled against her.

Her lawyers said she is not capable to stand trial due to her current physical condition. They argued that she should be in hospital undergoing treatment.

2014 Rape Comes Back To Haunt “Man Of God.”

A prominent Gweru pastor, Felix Magondo, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old congregant in his vehicle.

The founder of Ministry of Peter Apostolic Church of Christ (Mopac) was arrested on Thursday around 11PM following a report by the complainant (name withheld) at Nehanda police station in Mkoba 19 suburb in Gweru.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “I can confirm that we are investigating a case of rape involving a pastor from Gweru, Felix Magondo who stands accused of raping his congregant in Gweru. Investigations are still underway and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.”

Sources close to the church said the man of cloth allegedly raped the then 18-year-old congregant in 2014.

They said last weekend the pastor, who is also a marriage officer, allegedly solemnised a marriage between the complainant’s sister and her husband.

“Sometime in 2014 the complainant was a congregant at Mopac ministries where the accused is a pastor. It is alleged that on a date unknown but during the month of June, the accused allegedly visited the complainant at her residence in Mkoba 16 suburb in Gweru,” said the source.

Pastor Magondo allegedly asked the complainant to accompany him to Mkoba 14 suburb.

“They got into the accused’s vehicle. However, along the way, Pastor Magondo allegedly told the complainant that he wanted to go to the grinding mill in Mkoba 12 before going to Mkoba 14,” said the source.

“It is said that the accused and the suspect drove to a secluded place near Mkoba 12 light industrial site.”

The source alleged that Pastor Magondo proposed love to the complainant who turned him down.

“The suspect allegedly forcefully grabbed the complainant and raped her once. The matter was reported on December 19 since the complainant was being threatened with death in the event she reported the man of cloth,” said the source.

Office of the President

I am delighted to write to you in my capacity as the President of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Zimbabwe.

I am fully aware that it has taken a very long time for me to directly reach out to you. This has been due to a number of factors of which I and the entire leadership team are working tirelessly to address. I am happy to report that we are making good progress. In the near future, we will advise you of the outreach programmes the party will embark on in order to build, support and consolidate your presence on the ground.

Although I have not met many of you yet, I have however travelled on many occasions to many areas in the country. I have met many of our people in the villages, towns and cities.

Depressingly, I have seen extreme poverty – children with little or no food to eat, mothers experiencing daily indignity of failing to provide basic essentials for their children, jobless young people loitering the streets, hardworking fathers in daily predicament about their situations.

It is clear that the government is not working for the people but is working against the people. Our people are experiencing extra ordinary daily challenges, amongst of which are:

  1. Prices of basic food are beyond the reach for many.
  2.  Serious cash shortages, with no viable plan by the government to end this situation.
  3. Daily devastating power cuts which impact on people’s daily lives.
  4. Healthcare system has collapsed putting millions of our people lives at risk.
  5. Education system has collapsed condemning our children to eternal failure in life.
  6. Corruption is rife, those in power or those connected to the rich and powerful are systematically plundering national resources.

The list of what is not working in our country is endless. What is clear is that our people are the victims of this man-made situation.  We have a duty as Economic Freedom Fighters to mobilise ourselves to stand with the masses to demand that the government starts working for the people. Our people must not continue to suffer perpetual indignity or eternal humiliation at the hands of those who are entrusted to be the custodians of peace and tranquillity amongst our people.

As the Economic Freedom Fighters, we have started the process of building a formidable political party which will fight for the poor masses, the downtrodden of our society and the dispossessed in our communities. We have so far moved forward with:

  1. Formation of an interim national leadership structure with a crop of youthful, radical and revolutionary leaders drawn from the length and breadth of the country.
  2. Provisionally adopted a constitution which clearly identifies party ideology of socialism placing radical economic transformation at the core of our objectives.
  3. Building a solid alliance with the Economic Freedom Fighters South Africa – we share the same ideology however we do aim to find solutions to the problems affecting the people of Zimbabwe in the context of our own circumstances.
  4. Conducting regular meetings of the Central Command Team to discuss policies and strategies.
  5. Mobilising resources so that we can start outreach programmes on the ground throughout the country.
  6. Registering the Economic Freedom Fighters as a political party within the meaning of the Electoral Laws of Zimbabwe.
  7. Creating Structures in many areas across the country – we need to work more on creating more structures and consolidating the existing ones.
  8. Recruiting and mobilising membership for the party.

It is my objective and that of the entire leadership of the party, that going forward into the next year and beyond, we need to do the following:

  1. Increase our presence on the ground by embarking on a nationwide membership recruitment drive.
  2. Participate in active political engagements on the ground from the cell, ward, district, provincial and national levels.
  3. Speak up for the masses by engaging the government and challenging the dysfunctional political system in the country.
  4. Expose the opposition parties who during the day deceive our people by making false pronouncements against the excesses and failures of the government whilst during the night they nichodemously wine and dine with the corrupt government officials.
  5. Contest for political power and political positions in any coming elections.

In conclusion, I want to speak directly to you fighters and to the entire people of Zimbabwe. Economic Freedom Fighters of Zimbabwe is a radical and revolutionary movement seeking to galvanise and embark on a struggle for change. We believe that change in Zimbabwe must start with the economic emancipation of the masses.

Despite all the hardships we are enduring at present, I would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year! I know fully well that for many, life is hard, and the festive season will be difficult and uneventful.

As your President, I promise that, we will radically mobilise of fighters until we have a government for the people by the people. I am therefore inviting you ,from across the length and breath of the country to join us to work tirelessly to hold the government to account and to work towards a democratic change of government – with a vision to usher in a radical economic change not for the few but for the many !

Everywhere EFF! EFF Everything!

Marry’s Family “Takes On” General Chiwenga

Death Threats For State Spy Bearing Mugabe Surname

By A Correspondent- Two soldiers based in Hwange allegedly threatened to kill a State spy bearing a Mugabe surname after accusing him of being related to the late former President Robert Mugabe.

Sindiso Nkomo and Philani Nyoni allegedly threatened to kill Tawanda Mugabe in an act of revenge, claiming the late President had also killed thousands in the region.

The incident took place on December 8, 2019 at Cricket Club in Hwange.

This emerged during their court appearance before Hwange magistrate Aelene Munamati, who found the pair guilty and fined them $100 each.

Munamati also slapped them with a wholly suspended two-month jail sentence.

The State, led by Trymore Chitumbu, said the two soldiers, based at 1.2 Infantry Battalion in Hwange, took offence when they heard that an officer from the Office of the President and Cabinet had a Mugabe surname.

“The accused persons approached the complainant after they heard him being called Mugabe by his friend. The accused threatened to kill the complainant, accusing him of being related to the late former President. They said ‘we must kill him because Mugabe killed a lot of people in this region’,” Chitumbu said.

The pair reportedly beat up Mugabe, resulting in their arrest.

The late former President, Mugabe, has largely been blamed for the 1980s Gukurahundi mass killings in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces after he deployed a North Korea-trained Fifth Brigade in the region to ostensibly fight dissidents.

The arrest of the two soldiers comes after the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) raised concern over cases of indiscipline among its officers.

ZNA Chief of Staff Quartermaster Staff, Major-General Hlanganani Dube recently said cases of indiscipline were rising.

“I strongly feel obliged to express the command element’s concern over repeated acts of indiscipline by some of our members,” Dube was quoted saying during a recent speech and prize giving ceremony of Inter Formation and Unit Drill Competitions held at Headquarters 5 Brigade.

“We continue to experience an increase in the number of members involved in crimes committed both within and outside the organisation. Such acts of indiscipline must end immediately. Severe punishments will always be applied for any deviation from our set standards.

Drama As Hor_ny Mother In Law Demands S_ex From Son In Law

By A Correspondent- IT’S the kind of thing that people think only happens in movies!

But for a Bulawayo man movies depict reality as his mother-in-law couldn’t control her taboo sexual urges enough to resist telling him that she wanted a taste of his bedroom skills.

Manfield Nhemachena shockingly claimed he was left disconcerted by his estranged wife’s, Tariro Nhemachena, biological mother when she stormed into his bedroom and allegedly demanded to have sex with him.

Manfield decided to share the hard-to-believe request in court, where his estranged wife was seeking a protection order against him after years of alleged emotional and physical abuse.

“On 17 November my estranged husband Manfield Nhemachena came to my house to drop off the child. We are on separation pending divorce and according to a court order he is supposed to leave the child by the gate, but on this particular day when I sent my child-minder to collect him (her son), he refused to give her saying he wanted me to come there personally.

“As I was about to go, I was shocked when I saw him already inside the house with the child. He went straight to disconnect the Television set saying he has a right over it since our divorce has not yet been finalised.

“From the lounge he stormed into my bedroom and took my laptop which he bought for me when we were still staying together. When I tried to stop him, he violently pushed me against the wall. He grabbed me by the throat and strangled me,” recounted Tariro.

In self-defence, Tariro revealed that she also aggressively grabbed him by his shirt, causing the buttons to fall off.

“I started screaming and he rushed out of the house with the laptop and I followed him as I wanted the laptop which has personal information. Outside the house, he grabbed me by the neck and tackled me. I fell headlong to the ground and neighbours later came to my rescue after I screamed. For a moment, I blacked out and when I woke up, that is when I discovered that I had sustained injuries all over my body,” further narrated Tariro.

A scorned Manfield, however, hit back accusing his estranged wife’s mother of being a sex pest.

“She is always after fixing me by fabricating stories. She once claimed that I wanted to stab our child with a kitchen knife. As if that is not enough, she also reported me to Justice for Children claiming I had kidnapped the child.

“For the past four years she would not allow me to see the child. She and her mother were controlling me to the extent that her mother once entered my bedroom and wanted to be intimate with me. The whole family is aware of the incident and it is the one that also led me to walk out of the marriage,” claimed a livid Manfield.

With regards to the TV set, he said: “I asked her to give me one since she had two sets so that when the child comes to where I am now staying, he could also have access to TV. She refused and I forcibly took it. Turning to the issue of laptop, she lied to me that it was stolen. When I wanted to collect it that is when she screamed”.

Taririo however, refuted Manfield’s submissions before labelling him a “serial liar”.

“He is a liar. He abused me for years. He once assaulted me and I was admitted in hospital for two-and-a-half weeks. He is such an embarrassment, on the divorce summons he even demands that the table flowers and teaspoons should be shared equally,” retaliated Tariro.

In her ruling the presiding magistrate Adelaide Mbeure granted a reciprocal order which compels both parties to stay away from each other’s premises.

She also stopped unreasonable disposal of matrimonial property before the parties’ divorce is finalised.

The magistrate further ordered Manfield not to physically abuse or threaten his estranged wife

First Lady Rolls Out Donkey Project In Mat South

By A Correspondent- First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, through her Angel of Hope Foundation, this week distributed small grains and rolled out a donkey project in Matabeleland South as part of measures to augment draught power and boost food security in the province.

Matabeleland South Province is located on the edge of the Kalahari Basin, giving it an arid climate.

Its economy is dominated by agriculture, with 83 percent of employed people in the province working in farming. Cattle ranching and tourism also contribute to the economy.

Small grains are drought-tolerant and disease resistant while donkeys are key animals in drought-prone areas because of their sheer power and ability to withstand harsh weather conditions.

They are also used as traction animals in rural areas by small-scale farmers.

In these days of fuel challenges, donkeys can ferry perishables like milk and vegetables to the market thereby saving on fuel costs.

The First Lady was represented by Ms Getrude Manyimo from her office as she had other engagements across the country.

Amai Mnangagwa has a passion forZimbabwe”s economic revival and has been touring the length and breadth of the country promoting agricultural production and setting up income-generating projects for communities.

Her major strength is that she provides solutions that are specific to the needs of a particular area.

She has also been providing seed and initiating income-generating projects for vulnerable communities.

The current programme has seen the First Lady distributing small grain seeds in Tsholotsho, Bulilima and Binga Simatelele, where a goat rearing project has also been introduced.

Small grains, Amai Mnangagwa said, were important since they did not require much water and farmers were assured of harvesting something even in seasons of low rainfall.

The Angel of Hope Foundation patron has this year distributed small grain seeds to farmers across all the country’s provinces to ensure they achieve food self-sufficiency and have at least surplus to send their children to school.

The Doma community in Kanyemba also benefited as they received the small grain seeds

“Expose The Criminals”: Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Zimbabweans must adopt a culture of honesty and hard work to curb corruption that has eroded national values, President Mnangagwa said recently.

He said this at a symposium to commemorate the United Nations Anti-Corruption Day.

The symposium was organised by the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and Transparency International Zimbabwe Chapter.

The symposium ran under the theme; “Taking stock of the anti-corruption agenda in Zimbabwe.”

He said:

“We need to inculcate honest hard work among our people.

When that is done, anybody who sees that somebody does not value hard work, but values criminality; those people will be exposed.

I believe that if all of us continue to say, ‘let us be honest, let us be an honest hard working population, then we can cross the River Jordan. But as it is, there is weakness in every level of society we can talk about. As I said, my Government, my administration will continue to tighten (laws on corruption).”

“We Have An Alien Leadership And We Are Doomed”: MDC

If there was need for any V11 evidence that we have an alien leadership that is not grounded in the reality of the Zimbabwe that we all live in, then the ZANU PF plush ceremony in  Goromonzi provided the clearest confirmation.

Mnangagwa stood up and told his party audience that there was no going back on the mono-currency; that there would not be any quick return to the multi-currency regime that provided massive respite to the people of Zimbabwe during the time the MDC extended its competent hand on the wheel of government between 2009 and 2013.

ED told his bemused audience that the country would stick to the local currency, the Zimdollar, the bond note or the RTGS, whichever of the many names is the actual name of our so-called currency. All we know is that the bond has bonded us to massive confusion as some of its denominations are being rejected in Zimbabwe.

So ED is exhorting the country to retain faith in a “currency” that is being rejected even in its own country. The man is certainly a visitor to the country he purports to be leading.

Lost to Mnangagwa is that the economy–and not the government–is firmly in charge of the currency dynamics. Equally lost to his delusional mind is the fact that the multi-currency regime is fully functional, with almost everything being pegged on the greenback.

From transport to groceries, fuel stations, car parts and spares,  health-care products, drugs and even transport fares, the US dollar is fully functional in Zimbabwe, never mind government’s grand  delusion that the greenback is “ banned.”

In fact, what is slowly being banned by the market is the RTGS, which is losing value every minute, assuming it had any value in the first place!

If he we were to be honest with himself, even as he spewed his delusion of grandeur, Mnangagwa had US dollars in his pocket at the time he was lying to his minions in Goromonzi that we are a country with a mono-currency. These guys have dismally failed to rig the economy, which has spawned its own reality away from the fiction of a mono-currency. In fact what has been proscribed is the so-called mono-currency, where the 25 cent and 50 cent coins have been “banned” by the un-riggable economic reality of our time.

It is unfortunate for ED that he cannot unleash the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to extend its malignant hand to the economy. The market and the economy have their own rules and regulations which make them allergic to tinkering.

It is high time the illegitimate, blood-soaked regime accepted that it is out of touch with reality. The echelons of power, particularly ED himself, have simply assumed permanent residence status in Cloud Cuckoo land!

They are simply out of touch; unaware that the rand, the greenback and  other foreign currencies are in vogue in the Zimbabwean economy.

In fact, we are fast accelerating towards the madness of 2008, where we had a 1 trillion dollar note during that time when the country was replete with starving millionaires. That we have now banned the publication of annual inflation figures is evidence of the stupid denial of our true situation and a stark confirmation to our inexorable march backwards to the ignominy of 2008.

In fact, the regime itself has confirmed that we will soon be having 10 dollar and 20 dollar notes, a move likely to lead to the further rejection by the market of the one dollar and two dollar coins that are still being grudgingly accepted.

The regime must just accept that it has failed. And just as previous professors in our midst such as Jonathan Moyo in Mugabe’s government dis-incentivised youngsters from going to school by dint of their palpable stupidity that manifested in the bad laws they crafted for the country, so too is Professor Mthuli Ncube failing to exhibit any evidence that he “ate” big book!

On another note, this Sunday, 22 December 2019 will be “Unity” day in a country ironically riven with so much division and polarization!

There is simply no unity in the country as reflected by the tragic marital status of the two Vice Presidents Kembo Mohadi and Constantino Chiwenga who have failed to keep the unity;  even at the micro-level of  their own matrimonial beds!

The charity of our unity must surely  begin at home, literally!

And Marry has been pierced (mubaiwa) by the coercive disposition of  her soldier husband; confining her to marital Siberia for the second if not the third time in her youthful life.

Meanwhile, relatives and friends are trooping into prison, singing that famous chorus that has become an overnight craze among despondent Zimbabweans: Tauya kuzoona MarryMarry Marry…..

I remember with nostalgia  singing this choral refrain in my childhood years under the glaring moonlight at Tamborenyoka village in Domboshava in the early 80s.

“Marry” Christmas, beloved Zimbabweans!

Just In- Mubaiwa Family Reveals Shocking Details Of The Force Behind The August 1 2018 Murders

By A Correspondent- A relative to incarcerated second lady Marry Chiwenga has made startling revelations regarding the force behind the August 2018 murders.

Hannington Mubaiwa accused her niece’s husband, Vice President Constantino Guvheyo Chiwenga of killing innocent civilians soon after the July 2018 harmonised elections adding that his in- law was also behind the murders which occurred in January 2019 following the fuel price hikes announced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mubaiwa implored Mnangagwa to watch out for his deputy whom he alleged was introducing anarchy in the country.

He said:

“…. It’s a precedent, it’s happening in Zimbabwe it’s going to happen to all other countries. This is about power, this is about anti constitutionalism; this is about anarchy that Chiwenga is introducing; this power, this authority. He was involved in the murder of Zimbabweans in 2018 of August; he is responsible, in January he is responsible it is him.”

WE PUBLISH BELOW THE FULL TEXT EXCLUSIVELY TRANSCRIBED ON BEHALF OF THE MUBAIWA FAMILY BY ZIMEYE.COM – Copyright 2019

Chiwenga was aided by China to secretly fly into Zimbabwe without informing Zim Airspace authorities, ED

President Mnangagwa, I request that you take this matter and give this lady my daughter Mary Mubaiwa the dignity that she deserves, thank you. Copyright ZimEye.com

“Don’t Expect Anything Good From Zanu Pf”

By Kennedy Kaitano- It is a breath of fresh air when you hear bodies such as the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission say that there is need for a “reconciled nation, a healed nation and a united nation,” that is achieved by addressing past conflicts to bring about justice, facilitating dialogue and ensuring the rehabilitation of victims.

This means the dialogue process should not gloss over issues, should not pretend that Emerson Mnangagwa won a free and fair election when he did not.

There is no shortage of evidence of intimidation and rigging by Zanu PF, and Mnangagwa and Zanu PF should admit that these things indeed happened if we need to move the country forward, and any meaningful dialogue should never shy away from these things.

For Thambo Mbeki therefore to say that people should accept court judgement when there is abundance that the judgement is flawed is an exercise in futility.

After all, judges are human being who can also err. Mbeki must know fully well that Zanu PF cheats – already they are busy amending the constitution to suit themselves.

They are abusing impoverished Zimbabweans by demanding allegiance to Zanu PF in order to receive food aid donated by donors. Zanu PF publicly declared at its annual conference that even if it loses elections, it has other means of retaining power. Zanu PF has now made it mandatory for professionally trained teachers to first get oriented on Zanu PF ideology before they can be deployed to go and teach.

You can never expect anything good from Zanu PF as it make frantic efforts to retain power at all costs. Mbeki has said before that the problem with African leaders is that they do not want to embarrass each other and will support each other in their wrong doing, so if he is to be involved in any mediation process, he should knock sense into the heads of the SADC leaders to ensure they are objective in their assessment of the Zimbabwean situation.

The need for dialogue has been accepted by all parties, but the dialogue should address the true facts that has taken Zimbabwe to where it is today.

Only the truth will set Zimbabwe free.

Socrates Was The Wisest, Never Pretended To Know All – Ruled By Ignoramus Insisting Are Mr Know-It-All

BY: Wilbert Mukori- Here is a tale loaded with lessons for our time!

“After his service in the war (Athens against Sparta 431BC Peloponnesian war), Socrates devoted himself to his favorite pastime: the pursuit of truth,” wrote.

“His reputation as a philosopher, literally meaning ‘a lover of wisdom’, soon spread all over Athens and beyond. When told that the Oracle of Delphi had revealed to one of his friends that Socrates was the wisest man in Athens, he responded not by boasting or celebrating, but by trying to prove the Oracle wrong.

“So Socrates decided he would try and find out if anyone knew what was truly worthwhile in life, because anyone who knew that would surely be wiser than him. He set about questioning everyone he could find, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. Instead they all pretended to know something they clearly did not.

“Finally he realized the Oracle might be right after all. He was the wisest man in Athens because he alone was prepared to admit his own ignorance rather than pretend to know something he did not.”

Zimbabwe is well and truly stuck in this economic and political mess because for 39 years and counting the country has been ruled by men and women who claimed to know best but knew nothing. And, worst of all, they have rigged elections so the nation has been stuck with them all these years!

The curse of “The bombastic Misstra Know-It-All”, as brother Stevie Wonder would say; is that he will never ever admit to failure, ignorance, etc. ever in the face of Mount Everest of evidence!

When the nation finally prised Robert Mugabe at gun point from  state house after 37 years, needed boiling water to take off the binnacle; he was kicking and screaming, “I am the only one competent to rule Zimbabwe!”

Zimbabwe was a banana republic in every derogatory sense of that phrase! Unemployment had soared to nauseating heights of 90% and so too had poverty.

Before Mugabe took over the country was the breadbasket of the region. He seized the farms and gave them to his cronies, mostly, and ever since the country has relied of food aid, so impoverish we could not ever pay for it! We are starving in what is for all intent and purposes is the Biblical Garden of Eden. A damning testimonial one insisting he is Misstra Know-It-All!

Mugabe was booted out of office by Mnangagwa and his fellow coup plotters ZDF commander Constantino Chiwenga, Air Marshall Perence Shiri, Major General Sibusiso Moyo and others; supposedly to rescue the country from the economic and political rot and decay. The irony is that these gentlemen were the bulwark of the Zanu PF dictatorship that had kept Mugabe in power against the democratic wishes of the people of Zimbabwe.

So, whilst many people had expected things to get better after the November 2017 coup, they have since realised it was al wishful thinking.

That is not to say, Mnangagwa himself had any doubt that he was going to succeed with flying colours where Mugabe had failed.

“Zimbabwe is open for business!” announced Mnangagwa. He promised “zero tolerance on corruption” and more important of all he promised to hold free, fair and credible elections. He failed to keep any of his promises and thus confirmed Zimbabwe was still a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs. No one wants to do business with thugs!

Zimbabwe’s economic situation is dire; unemployment is still a nauseating 90%; 34% of the population now lives in extreme poverty. Millions are suffering and hundreds are dying everyday of easily curable ailments because there are no doctors, no nurses, no medicine, no equipment, no electricity, no clean water, no everything. The situation cannot go on like this!

There is talk of yet another coup!

“Military tactician, Vice President Rtd General Constantino Chiwenga, has reportedly set the stage for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s removal from power in 2020,” reported Spotlight Zimbabwe.

“Senior army officers linked to the VP’s faction and sources inside the presidency, this week revealed that Chiwenga is allegedly going to boot out Mnangagwa from office “at all costs”, following the latter’s attempt to secure a life presidency, and reneging on a gentlemen’s agreement with the former to only rule for one presidential term, amid indications from the just ended ruling Zanu PF 18th annual people’s conference in Goromonzi, that Mnangagwa wants to run unchallenged as Zanu PF candidate in the 2023 presidential elections and beyond.”

Deja vu!

Mnangagwa came into power on the back of military coup and a rigged elections so, just Mugabe, he is illegitimate. His “Zimbabwe is open for business!” has failed to revive the Zimbabwe economy and the economy has continued with its nose dive. And, just like, Mugabe he is not only refusing to acknowledge his failure but is supergluing himself into state house. It will take another coup or bloody street protests to get this binnacle off!

If Chiwenga was as smart as he now claims to be then why did he, as one of the senior members of the vote rigging Zanu PF junta, impose first Mugabe and now Mnangagwa on the nation all these last 39 years. He is cocksure, just like Mugabe and Mnangagwa, that he will reboot the Zimbabwe economy in no time. In short, he is just another Misstra Know-It-All!

The secret to Socrates’ wisdom was the humility to accept, that regardless how knowledgable he was on a subject, there was always a possibility in one single grain of sand wrong or missing in his vast Sahara Desert of knowledge. Hence the reason why he cross examined everyone and everything in his relentless search for truth and knowledge.

There is NO secret to Zimbabwe’s economic demise and political paralysis; the country has been stuck in a rut for decades. It was ruled by  corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrants, without even the common sense to admit they have failed even with all the evidence of their failure piled mountain high before them.

If Zimbabwe is ever to escape from the hell-on-earth the country now finds itself, then we must do something to replace the dictatorship with a health and functioning democratic system of government. We must replace these Misstra Know-It-All tyrants with democrats, who embrace the right of the people to a meaningful say in the governance of the country as a pre-requisite to good governance reaffirmation that leaders are above all else mere mortal and thus fallible.

Ndlovu’s Widow Rubbishes Claims That She Killed Her Husband

By A Correspondent- Bhekimpilo Ndlovu’s widow has rubbished her late husband’s family’s claims that she is behind the popular tycoon’s shooting that claimed his life on Saturday last week.

Though admitting she was having an extramarital affair with one Jabulani Ncube, though a South African firm Mrs Nomalizwe Ndlovu has denied any involvement in her late husband’s death and claims her husband was a womaniser and has a lot of enemies.

Said Mrs Ndlovu:

In 1997 he was cheating with Sibonokuhle Ncube, when I confronted him, he beat me up for calling his girlfriend. In 1999 he was dating Sokuluhle Ndlovu who stayed in Tshabalala and was a teacher at a primary school in Tsholotsho. When I confronted him, he beat me up and stabbed me with a screw driver.

In 2014 he dated Sibongile Tshabalala who stayed in Pretoria, a young sister to Chris who ended up divorcing with her husband due to the infidelity. In 2015 he had an affair with Ashilla Dube who stayed in Berea and was also involved with Nomakhaya Sibanda. He also had an affair with our neighbour

My husband discovered the affair(hers and Jabulani Ncube) sometime in 2018 and he told me to stop the affair. I never stopped the affair, my late husband instituted divorce proceedings but he later withdrew them as he said I had been forgiving him for multiple affairs since 1997 and had been patient with him.

Even the time when he instituted divorce we continued staying together and slept together as husband and wife. The time I met Chris, it was during trying times as I had stayed with my husband for a year without s_ex

I went for an interview at Hillbrow police station as my late husband’s family told them I killed my husband and after questioning and checking my phone I was told to go home. I was not arrested for killing my husband and I did not kill my husband,

When my husband was shot, I was shocked that his family was only obsessed about his property to a point that they even drove his car and took money and bank cards within minutes of his death; all his belongings were taken by his family. The reason why I’m being vilified by the family is due to the property as they believe if I am arrested, they will be beneficiaries.

When I met my husband, he had absolutely nothing, my mother gave me the house in Pumula South, the house that his family now wants. The family and Ezra are misleading the public and portraying me as a gold digger yet my own mother gave me a house to stay with him after we got married as he could not even afford a stand

Bhekimpilo was shot dead on Saturday in Johannesburg.

“Fees Hikes Reports Are False”: Gvnt

By A Correspondent- Government has dismissed social media messages that universities have raised fees by more than 500 percent.

In 2016, eight lawyers were deregistered. The released LSZ list has 46 lawyers deregistered, stretching back to 1997.

“Chiwenga’s Attempted Arrest At The Airport Was Choreographed”: Mzembi

By A Correspondent| Former Tourism minister Walter Muzembi has alleged that the arrest of the then army commander who is now the country’s vice president in 2017 was choreographed to justify the coup which ousted the late Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.

Mzembi said he tried to stop the military from implementing the November 2017 coup that ended 37 years of the late President Robert Mugabe’s rule.

Court Called Up To Declare Peter Mutharika Loser Of May Elections

Peter Mutharika

Lawyer Modercai Msiska a senior counsel (SC)  leading the legal team of second petitioner and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera, has asked  the Constitutional Court to nullify President Peter Mutharika’s victory in the May 21 Tripartite Elections and  declare Chakwera as the rightful winner of the polls.

Chakwera and his  deputy Sidik Mia stormed

Chakwera, the second petitioner in the historic elections case, is asking the court to nullify the May 21 2019 presidential election.

Msisha, one of the framers of the Republican Constitution, in his final oral submissions on Friday, articulated the remedies he seeks the court to make to rectify the massive irregularities committed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), the second respondent in the matter, saying the body that it  failed to adhere to constitutional provisions governing management of elections in the country.

The lawyer pointed out the  jurisdiction to administer what Section 41 of the Constitution describes as “an effective remedy” to address MEC’s violations of the political rights of Malawian voters whose will was defeated by either incompetence or fraud, or both.

According to Msisha, though it is for the Constitution Court to decide what an effective remedy is, the five-judge panel of the High Court of Malawi sitting as the Constitutional Court should not only declare the election of Mutharika, invalid, null and void, but also consider declaring Chakwera the rightful winner of the 2019 elections if the Court is persuaded by evidence to that effect.

Msisha  argued that there is “overwhelming evidence” that MEC has been generally negligent in its control and administration of the elections by  failing to electronically and manually collate, tally and transmit results as accurately as required by law; failing to ensure that the relay of results from polling station was secure, accountable, accurate and verifiable.

He also said there has been massive tampering and irregularities in connection with the counting of ballots and transmission of results during the May elections of which MEC was aware or ought to have been aware of it had exercised reasonable care and due diligence commensurate with its constitutional and statutory powers and duties.

The lawyer argued that despite the existence of the said tampering and irregularities, MEC went ahead to announce the results of the election, including that the President Mutharika had been re-elected “without holding any or any sufficient audit or recount to verify the election results.”

Msisha said failure by MEC to remedy the non compliance, irregularities and improprieties in the conduct of May elections amounts to “grave violation of the Constitution”.

He pointed out that the elections was badly conducted and fatally affected by non-0 compliance, irregularities, malpractices and illegalities such that the result of the elections had been substantially and significantly affected.

Msisha said Mutharika was not duly elected President of Malawi as he did not truly obtain a majority of the votes polled.

President Mutharika of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), by virtue of being the declared winner of the presidential race, is the first respondent.

The five High Court judges hearing the case are Healey Potani, Ivy Kamanga, Dingiswayo Madise, Redson Kapindu and Mike Tembo.

Landmark Ruling From Malawi Court On May Elections

Justice Sylvester Kalembera has ordered the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to hold a rerun in the constituency.
Justice Sylvester Kalembera has ordered the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to hold a rerun in the constituency.

The High Court in Blantyre on Friday nullified Mangochi West Constituency parliamentary elections results.

Justice Sylvester Kalembera has ordered the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to hold a rerun in the constituency.

The petitioner in the case, Simeon Harrison, challenged the declaration of the Democratic Progressive Party’s Jeffrey Chiwondo as winner.

“This court has found that the elections were not free fare and credible. There were irregularities and inconsistencies which affected the will of people,” said Justice Kalembera.

Justice Kalembera said there was contradicting information on the results.

He said MEC Chief Elections Officer (CEO) gave conflicting results in his testimony.

Justice Kalembera said the MEC CEO failed to disclose the official results sheet.

“The petitioner has proved to the court that the election results were tampered with especially at Makunula polling centre where a presiding officer was replaced. We believe the irregularities affected the results hence nullification of the poll results,” he said.

Independent parliamentary aspirant for the area, Simeon Harrison, has been challenging MEC for declaring Chiwondo as eventual winner in the May 21 polls when the final tally showed that he actually trailed Harrison with one vote.

Bosso Coach And CEO In Near First Fight

Just days after they plotted and executed the downfall of Ngezi Platinum, bringing the Chibuku Super Cup to Barbourfields Stadium, the temperamental pair of head coach Hendrik Pieter de Jongh and club chief executive officer Nhlanhla Bahlangene Dube twice nearly treated Highlanders players to some free boxing show as they had physical confrontations in front of their charges, B-Metro Sport has learnt.

Highlanders Dutch coach Hendriek Pieter de Jongh with CEO Nhlanhla Dube

According to players, in what might prove to be a damaging public relations disaster, the first time the two “pugs” almost came to blows was at a local restaurant a few hours before Highlanders took on Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium on Wednesday 11 December.

“The whole argument bordered around why Dube had engaged in a meeting with Bulawayo Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda a few days before the match. Highlanders are in need of the services of some players from Chiefs camp and the feeling from the coach was that the chief executive officer could have met Sibanda after our duel. As a result, in full glare of us players and other club officials there was a harsh exchange of words between the two at the restaurant,” said one of the Bosso’s senior players.

Interestingly, Bosso went on to lose that match against Amakhosi with Amahle ending the Bulawayo football giants’ 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Four days later, moments before their last game of the season, which they drew two all against relegated Chapungu at Ascot Stadium, Bosso players and some technical team members reportedly shuddered in disbelief when Pieter de Jongh and Dube charged at each other and nearly engaged in a punch-up after violently handling each other.

“Babambana ngama collar bra (they held each other by the collar). This was after the coach had openly told everyone that he did not want anyone else in our dressing room besides members of the technical team and players. However, Dube insisted on going to inspect whether the dressing room was clean or not. It was not long that the coach sought to chase out Dube from the dressing room. This resulted in a wrestle that could have resulted in a very big brawl,” said another player.

Contacted for a comment Highlanders public relations manager Ronald Moyo dismissed the two reported incidents as nothing, but hearsay.

“There is nothing to that effect that happened. I can’t comment any further because it is all coming from the grapevine,” said Moyo.

Dube ignored repeated calls from B-Metro. B-Metro

Exposed!Chiwenga “Murdered” Zimbabweans In 2018

Farai Dziva| A spokesperson for the Mubaiwa family has indicated that Constantino Chiwenga was involved in the “murder of Zimbabweans in August 2018.”

Commenting on Marry Chiwenga’ s arrested and prosecution, Hannington Mubaiwa described Chiwenga as a “ruthless man.”

See full statement below recorded by ZimEye.com :

She is the wife of a Vice President

The People In Govt, None Of Them Deserves Honour

President Mnangagwa, I request that you take this matter and give this lady my daughter Mary Mubaiwa the dignity that she deserves, thank you.

However, Efforts by ZimEye.com to get a comment from the Chinese embassy were fruitless at the time of writing.

Confirmed, ZACC Is Working Under Chiwenga’s Instruction To Persecute Marry

John Makamure ZACC Spokesperson

Own Correspondent|Besides frantic efforts to substantiate claims that they are not targeting Marry Chiwenga on instructions of her husband Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, ZACC have been exposed as such by Marry’s family.

In a hard hitting media statement issued on Friday, the Mubaiwa family says that Vice President Chiwenga showed his lack of integrity by using his military and political power to get ZACC to persecute his wife on a purely family matter.

“The Primary Factor in this case is that, behind it everything that is happening is a family matter. We know that when when a family has a disagreement, the husband who is not happy with his wife should approach the parents and discuss the way forward. And this has not been done, it has shown, it shows how Chiwenga despises and condescends on the Mubaiwa family; Because he should have thought, as a strategic man, should have thought about this; I am sure he considered it and found it unnecessary because we don’t have power, so he perceives,” said Hannington Mubaiwa the family spokesperson.

“He is using military power and political power to abuse the police and the anti-corruption system to get back on his wife,” added Mubaiwa.

Early this week, ZACC Spokesperson John Makamure disputed public accusations that the commission was being used by Chiwenga to fight Marry.

“I would not want to comment on a case that is before the courts, but there are sentiments being expressed that she (Mubaiwa) is a victim,” said Comm Makamure.

“But as Zacc, we look at evidence that has been brought to the commission. There is no way Zacc would have investigated a matter that had not been brought to its attention. If you bring a matter to our attention, we spring into action. That is how we operate.

“The commission does not discriminate according to gender, political affiliation and one’s status in society. Our mandate is very clear, we are independent and we are executing our mandate in line with the dictates of the Constitution.

“We don’t care who the person is married or related to. We look at the merit of the corruption case and we deal with that.”

WATCH: Mbeki Is Lower Than Obey Sithole In Rank

Thabo Mbeki is not even the level of MDC Youth Leader Obey Sithole, Simba Chikanza argues in the below news review –

By Simba Chikanza| PART 1 | “Each generation must discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it, in relative opacity,” – Fanon.

Simba Chikanza

I still contend that MDC President Nelson Chamisa was wrong even at the onset, to meet former South African President Thabo Mbeki worse, in a closed door session. I write as someone who is actively working to restore law and order in Zimbabwe and daily seeking the prosecution of criminals causing the suffering of millions of citizens. There are a million reasons why Nelson Chamisa should never at any time meet or even converse via phone with Mbeki chief of which is that Mbeki is too junior to him and furthermore too low a human being (in legal reality), a mere criminal seeking the next opportunity to commit another crime. Mbeki has already been found on the wrong side of the law by the High Courts of South Africa for the same.

Thabo Mbeki

There are a million reasons why the MDC leader should never meet Mbeki for anything, and I repeat, anything. There is no legal reason anywhere in the universe; there is no moral reason; there is not even a logical reason why such a meeting should happen.

Thabo Mbeki is an abuser, a rapist, a murderer, himself, on whose hands is the blood of 103 innocent Zimbabweans, whose judicial report he personally blocked. When it comes to the legals, the Victim should surely never be expected to meet the rapist, the torturer. Here we are talking about a crime who’s commission was upheld by South Africa’s High Court. For more than 12 years, Mbeki and his colleagues fought to keep the contents of the Judge Khampepe Report under wraps. The High Court case saw the details of a damning cover-up being revealed which shows that: Zimbabwe’s 2002 elections were rigged, and Mbeki knew all about it. This High Court verdict means that anyone even dreaming this man Mbeki could mediate a Zimbabwean crisis, are themselves criminals and such of the worst kind.

I wonder what mental state the MDC leader was when he walked into that meeting earlier this week and single-handedly marched into a closed-door session with this rapist, Mbeki. Perhaps Chamisa was feeling well but legally, still abusers are banned from accessing their victims. And victims must know too well, worse will come. In terms of morals there is no sane human being alive who would agree to such access being granted.

When it comes to a logical reason: how on earth should a minority Party leader, with the lowest opposition representation ever since the MDC was formed be said to be stalling a whole government? Is it not better for Mbeki to meet the 2/3rds of parliament, the 1st largest chunk since 1980 and conclude the national talks with them? That Mbeki goes against such logic, is it not enough proof that he is a mentally unfit individual? How does Chamisa endanger himself to go into a closed door session with a human being with such warped logic?

Mbeki simply wants to commit more crime.

And what solution will Mbeki bring, someone who is working to worsen the breakdown of law and order in Zimbabwe? Mbeki is not only a criminal, he is one such who is seeking to commit more crime. Already Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman has publicly revealed that Mbeki has a new job which is that of obfuscating crimes against humanity, internal sanctions imposed and executed by his boss, Mnangagwa. Charamba said of Mbeki upon his visit early this week, he (Mbeki) is now doing the job of lobbying internationally for Mnangagwa. For this reason, meeting Mbeki or even conversing with him is conversing with a criminal whose role is none other than to incriminate Chamisa. Mbeki’s role is that of shaping Mnangagwa into a victim and transforming Chamisa into an offender.

I maintain that Chamisa is the victim, not Mnangagwa. Some have said it was important for Chamisa to convey his position. I maintain that the only expression Chamisa must communicate to a person of Mbeki’s stature is that of avoiding him, or if he really needs to, to send someone else and specifically someone junior. Send someone like Sikhala or even the MDC Youth leader to meet Mbeki. Chamisa is too senior for a criminal who belongs to not only Chikuribi Maximum Prison, but The Hague.

Family Of Slain Business Tycoon Accuses Wife Of His Murder

Bheki Ndlovu

State Media|THE family of a South Africa-based Zimbabwean businessman who was shot dead in a suspected hit in the neighbouring country has accused his wife of involvement in the killing.

Meanwhile, Jabu’s wife who is based in the UK, said:

“I had known for a long time but he was very careful and concealed his affair. I only got hold of the evidence when it was too late when Bheki had already been killed.

“I got hold of his phone when he was very drunk on the night of Bheki’s murder, and saw pictures of them together and WhatsApp messages that showed that they were having an affair for so long, and had a suspicious secret payment of $15 000 to be made in South Africa.

“I reported the matter to the police and forwarded messages to my relatives and Bheki’s relatives when I realised that something could be happening.

“My husband then wanted to harm me and I was put under police protection. He was called in for questioning by Brighton police here in the UK and I am now always under guard. He is my husband but if he has a hand in the death of an innocent man, then justice must prevail and he must face the music,” she said.

BREAKING: VP Chiwenga Has Secretly Invaded Zim Airspace Assisted By Chinese Govt- Marry’s Family

By Simba Chikanza| Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has in the last month invaded Zimbabwean airspace aided by the Chinese government… Chiwenga was assisted by the Chinese to fly into Zimbabwe without informing the airspace authorities of Zimbabwe, on the day of his boss Emmerson Mnangagwa’s presidential inauguration anniversary, his wife’s family has indicated.

The 23rd November is the day on which Mnangagwa’s Coup Presidency is remembered. (He was installed on the 23rd Nov 2017 following the military coup that removed his own boss, the late Robert Mugabe.) So why invade Zimbabwean airspace on the same day?, the family appear to ask.

In their video recorded statement, exclusively transcribed by ZimEye.com below, the Mubaiwa family said Chiwenga literally invaded Zimbabwe on the night he arrived aboard a Chinese jet to be welcomed by that nation’s local deputy ambassador.

On that day, the deputy Chinese ambassador was immediately derided by Mnangagwa’s spokesman who screamed asking, “itsitsi dzei idzodzo?” – what type of sympathy for Chiwenga is that?

The details of the latest allegations are contained in the below complaint by the Mubaiwa family who have complained about the manner in which their damsel, Marry (Chiwenga’s wife), has endured police arrest and imprisoned on charges which they say are based on a mere family affair.

Part of the below statement reads:

“Chiwenga has basically externalised the whole nation to China; And that is treason it’s a serious matter, coming into the country without consulting; without informing the president; what authority was he using?”

Efforts to get a comment from the Chinese embassy were fruitless at the time of writing.

Monday Is A Public Holiday

MONDAY, December 23, is a public holiday following the celebration of National Unity Day on Sunday, according to the law governing such public holidays.

In terms of Section 2(1) (ii) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act, when a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following working day becomes a public holiday.

Section 2(1) (i) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act, which also supports the position reads: “When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday following shall be a public holiday.”

Government has also since explained Monday is a public holiday.

Secretary for Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Mr Aaron Nhepera said traditionally if a public holiday is on a Sunday, then the following working day will be a holiday.

December 22 is National Unity Day.

“If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the next working day will be a public holiday and from the past this has been happening,” said Mr Nhepera.

RBZ Injects $20m New Notes Into Circulation

Mthuli Ncube

State Media|THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) injected an additional $20 million in banknotes into circulation in the last week.

Much of the money was channelled to the People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB), which is used to distribute a lot of pensions.

Depositors interviewed by The Herald yesterday said they still faced challenges obtaining cash from banks. Economists say while the RBZ was right to increase cash in circulation given the high demand, it would take time before cash queues disappear. The recommended cash levels in circulation are 10 percent to 15 percent of money supply, which is presently estimated at $19 billion. This means Zimbabwe requires about $2 billion in physical cash, yet there is about $720 million in circulation.

Since the introduction of new notes and coins last month, about $120 million has been injected into circulation.

The RBZ introduced new $2 coins and $2 and $5 notes following a surge in demand for cash in the informal sector which operates largely on a cash basis or offers discounts for cash.

Informal traders say this enables them to buy black market foreign exchange at a discount.

As Unity Day, Christmas and New Year holidays start tomorrow, there has been a rise in demand for cash across the country for bus fares and for spending in rural shops which often charge a high premium for mobile money transfers.

Turning to IPEC management and staff, Prof Ncube said the Government was aware of the work underway regarding the revaluation of pensions in light of currency changes in 2009 and this year.

NANGO Vows To Fight The Menacing Mashurugwi

THE National Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (Nango) on Wednesday conducted training of its members in the Midlands province aimed at imparting skills to end existing regional conflicts.

The Midlands province has been dogged by conflict, which includes the 1980s Gukurahundi disturbances, which the government and other independent bodies have been trying to resolve over the years with little success.

Political violence, rifts between local authorities and vendors and the stand-off between non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the police over public gatherings haunt the city.

Gweru City Council and residents have also been haggling over the rates billing system, which could see pre-paid water meters being introduced.

There is also a fight between farmers and miners on land rights as well as the menace of MaShurugwi.

Nango central region co-ordinator Titos Mangoma told NewsDay on the sidelines of the Gweru workshop, that his organisation strived to ensure that all NGOs in the Midlands have personnel trained to deal with cases of conflict.

“The training was basically on conflict prevention, management, resolution and transformation. The training sought to capacitate civil society organisations and other stakeholders to understand their role in promoting peace through utilising various peacemaking mechanisms which prevent, manage, resolve and transform all forms of conflict,” he said.

“The key outcomes of the meeting were geared towards the development of a framework which encompasses early detection systems of conflict and strengthening various peace building mechanisms. There are several cases of conflicts which came up in the meeting and we resolved on how to tackle them one by one as NGOs.”

Some of the NGOs which took part in the training include Zimbabwe Christian Alliance, Childline, Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, Women Coalition of Zimbabwe and residents’ associations.More in Home

Mangoma urged the NGOs to go into communities and try to end existing conflicts.

“The issue of MaShurugwi who are terrorising people also came out in the meeting and we agreed on how to try and solve the conflict. There was also the issue of violation of children’s rights that is a conflict case in communities; as well as land rights fights between farmers and miners. We set out the tone for ending some of these conflicts and several others that are already known at the national level,” he said.

And this has not been done, it has shown, it shows how Chiwenga despises and condescends on the Mubaiwa family; Because he should have thought, as a strategic man, should have thought about this; I am sure he considered it and found it unnecessary because we don’t have power, so he perceives.

https://youtu.be/F_C15CRq1lU

Chiwenga was aided by China to secretly fly into Zimbabwe without informing Zim Airspace authorities, ED

President Mnangagwa, I request that you take this matter and give this lady my daughter Mary Mubaiwa the dignity that she deserves, thank you. Copyright ZimEye.com

Chamisa Doesnt Want To Sit On The Same Table With Khupe, Madhuku And Gutu

OPPOSITION MDC leader Nelson Chamisa says any dialogue to take Zimbabwe out of the prevailing crisis should prioritise the issues of the disputed 2018 election.

Churches, labour, civic society and other stakeholders should also be part of the process, but the opposition leader appeared to shut out members of the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), a platform made up of losing candidates in the July 30, 2018 elections as well as Zanu PF.

“The nature of the dialogue that is credible is dialogue that involves Zanu PF and the MDC and, of course, labour going forward to be consulted. Churches, civic society also needs to play a role and needs to be done through credible facilitation and adjudication with Zimbabwe being the main player for a wholly Zimbabwean solution to Zimbabwean challenges,” The people’s favourite opposition leader Chamisa told NewsDay yesterday.

“A credible solution in this country is only found when major players play a role. Look at the Lancaster House talks, only key players. Unity Accord, Global Political Agreement, key players. Even now, for this country to move, there must be an understanding of the crisis and the solution.”

On Polad, Chamisa said: “That is a sideshow. We don’t want a political rally, we need a political dialogue. We don’t want sideshows to settle some other secondary or primary scores,” he added.

Members of Polad include MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe, National Constitutional Assembly leader Lovemore Madhuku and leaders of several obscure political parties.

Chamisa and Khupe had a bitter fallout in the battle to succeed the late MDC founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirayi, who died in February last year.

“There is a general understanding, a shared understanding of the nature of the crisis in Zimbabwe. President (Thabo) Mbeki appreciates this, (SA) President (Cyril) Ramaphosa appreciates it, Sadc appreciates it and so does everyone on the continent that the Zimbabwean problem is a political problem,” Chamisa said.

“It is a crisis of governance and legitimacy out of disputed election upon disputed election and the only lasting solution is located in a political solution and dealing with disputed elections since the 1980s, the 1990s, early 2000s and it is still there in 2019.

“The problem was there between Zanu and PF Zapu, it was there between Zanu PF and ZUM (led by Edgar Tekere), it was there between (the late former President Robert) Mugabe and (the late) president (Morgan) Tsvangirai and this problem is known even by my opposite number (Mnangagwa) and that must be dealt with and anything that doesn’t resolve that is simply a delayed disappointment and we can’t move away from fundamental issues,” he said.

Chamisa added: “It has always been a character of Africanhood that if we have a problem, we come together, we stick together, we talk together and find common solutions together.”

Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo referred questions to Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba, who was not picking up calls.

“(Former) President Mbeki came as the guest of the President (Mnangagwa) so the best person to talk to should be Cde Charamba,” Khaya Moyo said.

Endless Trouble At RGM Airport As Air Traffic Controllers Strike

Zimbabwe grounded flights at its three main airports in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls on Friday morning after air traffic controllers went on strike over poor pay and safety concerns.

Planes were not being allowed to take off or land, although an early morning SA Airlink plane from Johannesburg was cleared to land at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo.

Passengers on a 7.20AM FastJet out of Bulawayo to Johannesburg were forced to disembark after the plane failed to get clearance for take-off.

At around 9AM, two planes – one operated by FastJet and another by South African Airways – were stranded on the runway at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo, a passenger on the SAA flight, told ZimLive from the plane: “We’re just sitted here for the past two hours, food has been served.”

Moments later, he said they had been told to disembark. On the plane were several guests flying to Johannesburg to attend a weekend wedding of the daughter of exiled former cabinet minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, among them the political maverick William Mutumanje, also known as Acie Lumumba.

Lumumba tweeted: “I’m on SAA flight to Joburg and we have been informed that airport staff have enforced strike. Business class is full of investors shaking their heads, and G40 members going to Kasukuwere daughter’s wedding.”

A private jet normally hired from Dubai to fly President Emmerson Mnangagwa or his deputy Constantino Chiwenga was allowed to take off shortly after 8AM. With Mnangagwa due to officiate at an event in Norton, it was not clear if Chiwenga was a passenger on the Airbus A318-112 (CJ) Elite owned by Royal Jet.More in News

Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) spokesperson Anna Julia Hungwe told ZimLive: “We are having a technical problem affecting Air Traffic Control and we are in place to find solutions to it.”

One airport official in Harare who spoke to ZimLive on condition they were not named said Air Force of Zimbabwe air traffic controllers had been dispatched to the control tower, but the striking air traffic controllers barricaded themselves inside.

“They sent a message to the pilots of the planes that wanted clearance to take off that ‘no US dollar, no flights’. It seems they want to be paid US-dollar pegged salaries. They say their job is extremely difficult because of the antiquated radar equipment they have, and their salaries must reflect this terribly stressful working environment,” the official said.

It is the second time that the air traffic controllers have gone on strike in as many months.

Late last month, planes were grounded until mid-morning. Then, CAAZ officials made promises which the air traffic controllers now say were not met.

Air traffic controllers sometimes use their personal mobile phones to communicate with pilots taking off from Zimbabwean airports – placing passengers and crews in danger, according to the Air Traffic Controllers Association of Zimbabwe (ATCAZ).

The union said last month that air traffic controllers were poorly paid and most are “struggling to make ends meet” which has forced them to work more than the internationally-recommended hours, “disregarding mandatory rest periods.”

The radar system at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport malfunctioned nearly five years ago, and the ATCAZ says it highlighted concerns over the “continued deterioration in air navigation communication performance” in September 2017 and May 2019 which the government ignored.

“There have been several cases in which there was total loss of Air Traffic Services, air-to-ground communications in the upper airspace,” ATCAZ said in an October 29 letter.

There had been a complete communication blackout on four days this year – September 25, September 29, October 16 and October 18.

Describing the situation as “chaotic and dangerous”, ATCAZ warned that air traffic controllers were “incapacitated” to stop a mid-air collision from taking place.

Zimbabwe’s main airport, said ATCAZ in their damning letter, has no reliable two-way radio communication system “which is a requirement even in the least restrictive of airspace classes.”

The RGM International Airport is currently undergoing a Chinese-funded US$150 million upgrade to modernise it and boost its annual passenger handling capacity to six million from the current 2.5 million

The government says as part of that upgrade, the airport will be getting an advanced air traffic control system – but that will not be ready for another two years.

Kawondera Says Ginimbi, Marry Stole His Company

“I am self made and when I left school, I started doing gases and of course help from some experienced people in the game who recognized my hard work until I decided to register Pioneer Gases,”explained Ginimbi.

Dhlakama Commits To Rehabilitate Denver Mukamba

NGEZI PLATINUM coach Rodwell Dhlakama says midfielder Denver Mukamba is the best Zimbabwean footballer in his specialist role as an auxilliary forward. Dhlakama, who started Mukamba’s rehabilitation programme, believes the forward is good enough to play for the Warriors again.

The veteran coach said Mukamba’s rehabilitation process is just beginning and he wants to be there when the player finally puts all his troubles behind him.

Dhlakama took a bold decision to take the talented player to Chapungu during mid-season when no one was willing to sign the troubled star.

And, Mukamba didn’t disappoint, putting on some strong performances and scoring crucial goals, albeit in vain, as Chapungu failed to survive the chop.

But, that was long after Dhlakama had left the Air Force of Zimbabwe side for Ngezi Platinum.

Dhlakama passed that probation at Ngezi and has since been rewarded with a substantive role on a one-year contract.

“What I realised is that, Denver (Mukamba) needs someone who understands him,’’ said Dhlakama.

“He needs (some) fatherly love and that’s what I gave him at Chapungu. I am glad he is now back in full force. He just needs good management and the good thing about it is he is very willing to reform.

“He is my project and I haven’t yet finished rehabilitating him. He is the best player in the country for his position. Even in the Warriors, he still remains the best man for the behind-striker position.

“It is up to him, as an individual, to completely show that he is willing to be professional. I cannot rule the possibility of getting him here since I feel he is a project I have been trying to resuscitate.’’

Dhlakama said he would have to consider the risk of bringing him to Ngezi.

“Ngezi Platinum is a big brand and we cannot risk bringing someone who may end up tarnishing our image,’’ said the coach.

“So, it is up to him to do away with that bad boy behaviour which I believe we have worked so hard to eliminate.”More in Home

Dhlakama, who says he has not been comfortable with the “acting coach” tag, will be reinforcing the squad now that he has landed probably the most volatile coaching job in local football.

Ngezi finished fourth in the league and were runners-up in the Chibuku Super Cup.

And the team on Wednesday rewarded their outstanding players with captain Frank Makarati landing the Player of the Year award.

Donald Teguru snapped two awards, the Golden Boot and the Players’ Player of the Year gongs.

Goalkeeper Nelson Chadya scooped the Most Improved Player Award while Mandlenkosi Mlilo and Wayne Makuva took home the Most Promising and Rookie Player awards.

Mnangagwa Opens A Bridge

Mnangagwa in Norton

Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday commissioned the US$4,5 million Norton road-over-rail bridge in Mashonaland West Province and promised that his Government will continue to construct major infrastructure using locally mobilised resources.

The bridge eliminates a rail crossing by taking the major Harare-Bulawayo highway over the main railway line to improve safety and reduce delays. Government is also working on extending the existing Norton Toll Plaza on the dualised road as part of the New Dispensation’s commitment to infrastructure development.

In his address before commissioning the bridge, Emmerson Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe should not continue to lag behind its neighbours whose road infrastructure has been modernised.

“All our neighbours have dualised and refurbished their roads and we need to do the same, so that our roads can match those of our neighbours in terms of quality and safety. So my Government will continue to fund the construction, rehabilitation of infrastructure across the entire country from domestic resources. We will not go to World Bank and IMF,” said Mnangagwa.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has to distribute resources equally across all provinces with no preferential treatment being accorded to any region.

“I urge the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development to continue with the zeal and pace that has been going on, and our Government will continue to support you. I urge the Department of Roads to prudently utilise resources allocated for roads and bridge construction so that the majority of our people benefit.

“I also urge stakeholders that projects of this nature are in compliance with the local content policy. I call for equitable distribution of resources across all provinces and this duty is on you (Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joel) Matiza. Make sure there is no province more important than the other,” said Mnangagwa.

He said while Zimbabwe will continue on its re-engagement drive, it will do so with a clear conscience that it had not wronged anyone.

“Yes, we have introduced the policy of engagement and re-engagement but we have never offended any country. We have distributed our own land and not someone else’s land. So we are saying to the international community ‘let us embrace each other, What differences are there? Where have we offended you? We know we have not offended you, but you are imposing sanctions on us. What crime have committed? None!’” said Mnangagwa.

He commended the contractor, Bitumen World, for completing the project ahead of time.

Speaking at the same occasion, Minister Matiza said the project had created employment for 28 skilled and 82 unskilled workers.

“The bridge as it stands now, has a 6 metre vertical clearance to accommodate trains as per requirements of National Railways of Zimbabwe and a width of 10,5 metres to accommodate an additional railway line and future rail developments,” said Minister Matiza.

“For smooth passage of vehicles the bridge included approximately 450m bridge approaches on both sides, gabion retention walls and guard rails on either side for road safety.”

He said the bridge was constructed bearing in mind the need to reduce road carnage.

“Under the Second Republic the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges must be perceived correctly as facilitating the movement of goods, products and passengers within the country and beyond. In view of our ongoing plans to rehabilitate roads (and) railways are primarily the principal means of transport and this road is a crucial cog in our economic relations with our neighbouring countries,” he said.

Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Mary Mliswa said as a farming area, the construction of the bridge would go a long way in bringing connectivity to the community.

“Our province is a breadbasket of the country. We are a hardworking province that drives the economy through mining, agriculture and manufacturing,” she said. Chronicle

ED Hopeful Chamisa Will Heed Dialogue Call

Jane Mlambo| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially commissioned the Norton overpass that was recently completed by government, and has taken to Twitter to beg MDC leader Nelson Chamisa for dialogue.

Mnangagwa said his government will continue to build bridges both figuratively and literally in what appears aimed at his opposition nemesis who has refused to heed the Zanu PF leader’s call for dialogue.

Despite Mnangagwa blaming the country’s economic woes on sanctions, SADC is singing from a different hymn book after recently sending former South African President Thabo Mbeki to meet with all political players to solve the

AK47 Wielding Robbers Go On A Looting Spree In Gwanda

By Own Correspondent| A group of 15 armed robbers descended on Gobathema Business Centre in Guyu,  Gwanda, attacked shops and went away with R14 000, $1 100 and groceries.

The gang, armed with an AK 47 rifle and machetes, went on the rampage on Saturday night, attacking shop owners and forcing patrons to flee.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

He said:

I can confirm that we recorded an armed robbery case which occurred at Gobathema Business Centre in Guyu where a group of 15 unidentified men who were armed with machetes and an AK47 rifle went about robbing shops.

They arrived at the business centre, fired two shots in the air to threaten patrons who then fled. They invaded several shops and took cash amounting to R14 000, $1 100 and groceries whose value is yet to be ascertained.

Ass. Comm Nyathi has appealed to members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact any nearest police station.

He also urged businesspeople to be vigilant and desist from discussing their financial affairs in public as this may put them at risk of being robbed.

MPs Demand For An Extra Allowance For Doing Nothing

LEGISLATORS representing rural constituencies now want a special allowance on the premise that they spend several days in Harare without attending to their constituencies, while Harare-based MPs are always able to be with their constituents.

This was raised on Wednesday by Umzingwane MP Levi Mayihlome (Zanu PF) in the National Assembly as a matter of privilege to the Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda.

If this is implemented, it will mostly benefit Zanu PF legislators who have the majority of constituencies in the rural areas.

Mayihlome’s suggestion did not, however, make any reference to legislators from far-flung urban constituencies, such as Bulawayo, Mutare, Victoria Falls, Plumtree and Beitbridge, which have MPs who also have to travel and spend several days in Harare in order to attend to Parliament business.

He also did not mention how much more he wanted for rural MPs.

“I rise on a point of privilege on an issue which concerns rural constituency MPs, who compared to their counterparts, particularly Harare constituency MPs, have to travel up to 700 kilometres every weekend to their constituencies,” Mayihlome said.

“Friday and Sunday are travelling days to and from Harare and so they only have one day per week to attend to their constituency issues on a daily basis and so it is my humble request that rural MPs be given a special allowance for this difference between the rural and urban constituencies,” he said.

“Yes, that affects the rights and privileges of MPs. Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma MP) has been so mesmerised by your point of privilege, I do not know why. Let that matter be referred to the SROC,” Mudenda said.

Currently, MPs get sitting allowances of $700 per sitting, which was increased from the previous $75.

They also get fuel coupons whose value depends on the distance an MP travels from their constituency to Harare.

During the duration of their sitting, they also get accommodated at hotels.

While MPs have been very good at demanding a raise to their salaries, some of them — mostly from the rural constituencies — have been mum in Parliament, particularly on issues affecting the rural populace.

ZANU PF Elevates War Veterans Into A Full Fledged Wing In The Party

War veterans are now part of Zanu-PF high level structures after being upgraded from an affiliate and officially incorporated as a full wing during the just-ended 18th Annual National People’s Conference in Goromonzi last week.

The war veterans’ wing will be incorporated into the party’s constitution and President Mnangagwa said their inclusion as a full wing will bring impetus to party mobilisation and ideology.

War veterans have been an integral part of Zanu-PF and have been instrumental in campaigning over the years.

Speaking to The Herald, Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Cde Victor Matemadanda, who is also the Deputy Minister for Defence and War Veterans Affairs, said war veterans will cease to participate as affiliates, but as part of the main body of the party, with direct influence.

Cde Matemadanda said war veterans bring with them a wealth of experience necessary to take the revolutionary party forward.

“The major take away for war veterans at the conference is that they now become part of the Zanu-PF body and they are no longer participating as affiliates, but as part of the party’s structures,” he said.

“They are now part of the main body. Their influence now comes to the party directly and not as stakeholders anymore and they bring with them needed experience.”

Cde Matemadanda said war veterans will play a major role in the party’s restructuring, mobilisation and recruitment.

He said war veterans will work towards ensuring that party and Government policies were well understood by the people as they were now part of the party’s “implementing machinery”.

“We have got a vigorous restructuring exercise, mobilisation and recruitment of new members, so unlike in the past when they were mainly on the sidelines of party business they will be at the forefront,” said Cde Matemadanda.

“They will play a major role in the restructuring of the party, mobilisation of party members and recruitment of new members to the party and they will also have to make sure that Government and party policies are well understood.

“War veterans have now become implementing machinery of the party and government.”

Mwonzora Wants Chamisa To Shake Mnangagwa’s Hands, To Fix The Economy

By A Correspondent| A week before former South African president, Thabo Mbeki flew into Zimbabwe, the man who is set to be appointed the substantive MDC leader by the ZANU PF controlled Constitutional Court, Douglas Mwonzora began calling for an “adulterous” handshake between Nelson Chamisa and Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Senator Mwonzora was the MDC Secretary General in 2014 and a constitutional court verdict to be announced in a few weeks’ time could elevate him to the position of MDC leader. But before that is ever possible, he has broken all party protocol to demand some performance from his boss, Chamisa.

He on the 12th December wrote saying Chamisa must imitate the Kenyan model in which Uhuru Kenyata duped Raila Odinga into a handshake 2 years ago.

Wrote Mwonzora:  “The current political impasse in the country is adversely affecting the economy and the common man/woman. At this rate no meaningful social, political and social reforms will be identified and implemented. May be its time to try the Kenyan Handshake!

“We need reforms but for them to happen people must talk first.

“A handshake represents a commitment to dialogue.”

“I Tried Stopping The Nov 17 Coup”: Walter Mzembi

Professor Jonathan Moyo recently suggested that former Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi is linked to a newly formed political entity called the People Party.

Responding to reports that he was over the moon about the formation of the party Moyo said:

The wife of former Zimbabwe Defence Forces army general Constantino Chiwenga is set to spend the festive season in a remand prison following indications by the prosecution that the court records on murder and other charges are not yet ready.

This comes at a time attorneys representing Marry Mubaiwa claim that her health is deteriorating at Chikurubi Maximum Prison due to an undisclosed ailment.

Her attorneys appeared in court in Harare today after a local magistrate recently told her to apply to the High Court for bail on charges of murder.

Marry Mubaiwa, who is divorcing the Vice President, claims that she is a victim of a bitter relationship in which Constantino Chiwenga is using his powers to nail her on what her attorneys have described as fabricated stories designed to undermine her status as a mother and businesswoman.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission arrested Marry Mubaiwa last Saturday and laid several charges against her including murder, money laundering, externalization of huge sums of money and marriage certificate fraud.

The former army chief claims that her wife attempted to kill him while he was lying helplessly in bed in a South African hospital.

VP Chiwenga Fires Warning Shots

By Own Correspondent| Vice president Constantino Chiwenga has threatened to weed out land barons saying they have allegedly invaded and hijacked cooperatives in Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the International day of cooperatives in Bindura yesterday Chiwenga said land barons were selfishly building their own homes corruptly.

“The so called land barons invaded the cooperative structures and hijacked the noble cause of the people to build their own homes, government will leave no stone unturned and will weed out these undesirable elements, Chiwenga said.

“As shown by the appointment of Commission of Inquiry into the Sale of state land and in around urban areas, whose report is now with His Excellency the president (Emmerson Mnangagwa), stern measures will be taken to protect citizens from such dishonest practices,” he added.

The VP said cooperatives built 165 300 houses from 2010 to 2019 and national projects like the urban renewal programme will create employment to many.

“At least 165 300 houses were built throughout the country by cooperatives from 2010 to mid-2019, the president was in Mutare recently commissioning the Sakubva Ubarn Renewal project will directly employ 20 000people and 25 000 indirectly.”

“Take advantage of such big projects, l urge cooperatives not to confine themselves to low income primary production activities , but also venture into value addition in the secondary and tertiary production sector,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chiwenga urged the Zimbabwe National Cooperatives Federation to put preventive measures and guidelines to govern the operations of their members.

Govt Not Blocking Importation Of Japanese Used Cars

GOVERNMENT will continue to allow the importation of old second-hand vehicles, the older the vehicle, the less the duty charged.

The issue was discussed on Tuesday in the National Assembly during debate on clause 25 of the Finance (No 3) 2019 Bill, after Dzivarasekwa MP Edwin Mushoriwa (MDC Alliance) questioned why more duty was levied on new imported vehicles and less on old ones without taking into consideration the impact on the environment.

Clause 25 of the Finance (No 3) 2019 Bill states the Zimbabwe dollar rates of special excise duty on second-hand motor vehicles, which will take effect from January 1, 2020.

For example, an imported second-hand vehicle with a lifespan of zero to four years and an engine capacity of up to 1 000cc will pay excise duty of $3 000; five to 10 years and engine capacity of 1 000cc ($1 500); 11 to 15 years with engine capacity of 1 000cc ($750); and over 20 years all engine capacities ($500).

Mushoriwa added that Zimbabwe should consider setting up its own manufacturing plants.

“Minister (Finance, Mthuli Ncube), why should we reward a person who wants to import a vehicle which is more than 20 years and we punish a person that wants to import a vehicle which is less than five years? I thought the Hon Minister was going to simply say any vehicle which is more than 10 years has to be charged high excise duty,” Mushoriwa said.

“So what it means is that the best way to buy cars is for people to go to Japan and get vehicles which are 20 to 25 years old and put them into the market and they end up flooding the market. They only have to pay US$500; you are not putting into consideration the issue of the environmental impact,” he said.

Chegutu West MP Dextor Nduna (Zanu PF) said government should not curtail people’s choice of vehicles.

“To then force the ordinary Zimbabwean to buy brand new vehicles is out of this world. I applaud the minister for not trying to (stop) the ex-Japanese vehicles from getting into the country,” Nduna said.

Ncube said in coming up with the Zimdollar duty charges for imported vehicles, government converted the old United States dollar rates using a factor of eight to the current rate.

“That is way below the inter-bank rate of 15. So these are not high at all and these are in Zimbabwe dollars. This is simply an issue of excise duty in terms of livelihoods in line with the size of the engine capacity and the number of years,” he said.

The Treasury boss said duty was meant to be progressive rather than regressive, and that is why it was lower as the age of the vehicle goes higher.

“We are not trying to necessarily restrict the old vehicles over new vehicles. The intention rather is to recognise the remaining life and making sure the excise duty is progressive enough. Those with newer cars pay more because of longer shelf life and those with older cars pay less. That is how we have designed it and we think it is fair to design it that way,” he said.

Chiwenga Vows To Deal With MaShurugwi

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said the government will descend heavily on machete-wielding gangs that are wreaking havoc in the country especially in gold-mining areas.

Chiwenga made the remarks while addressing scores of
Bindura residents who had gathered for the International Day of Co-operatives on Thursday. He said:

As a government, we are saying no to machete-wielding miners, hatidi mabhemba (we don’t want machetes)! Let me repeat, no to machete-wielding miners.

The law will descend heavily on (the rogue) artisanal miners. We cannot afford to have illegal miners wreaking havoc in the country.

The violent machete-wielding gangs, also known as
MaShurugwi , have been making headlines over the past several months with a significant number of murders perpetrated by the marauding thugs being reported.

The gangs are reportedly backed by powerful politicians who are benefiting from their illegal goal-mining activities.Credit : NewsDay
