Terrence Mawawa Enigmatic Masvingo State Minister Shuvai Ben Mahofa has refused to heed Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere’s directive to the province to lift Gutu South MP Paul Chimedza’s suspension from taking part in party activities.
Despite Kasukuwere’s call for the suspension to be lifted Mahofa has maintained her political arch rival Chimedza is a traitor.
The controversial state minister who has developed a knack for challenging her bosses- in the party and government’s directives- stunned Zanu PF provincial members at a recent party meeting when she lambasted both Kasukuwere and Chimedza.
Mahofa took a dig at Chimedza at a meeting held at Maungwa Business Centre, Gutu South Constituency last week. “Chimedza is a traitor, we all know that he attends Zimbabwe People First rallies behind our backs. Stop listening to Chimedza’s lies – he was never forgiven by the President. He must produce a letter which indicates he is no longer on suspension. The letter must come from the Masvingo executive.
We do not care who announced that we must lift Chimedza’s suspension,”said Mahofa. Mahofa instigated Chimedza’s suspension in 2014 after claiming the youthful politician was a member of the Joice Mujuru faction. Mahofa and Chimedza’s rivalry dates back to 2008 when the former was imposed by President Robert Mugabe to represent Gutu South Constituency in the fiercely contested polls. Kasukuwere is yet to respond to Mahofa’s latest comments.
