Terrence Mawawa Gutu A local traditional leader has raised the ire of villagers by demanding sexual favours from desperate women in exchange for food aid.
ZimEye.com is reliably informed village head Willy Mukadziwasha of Mukadziwasha Village is demanding sexual favours from desperate women who besiege his homestead in search of food aid. The village head is taking advantage of the women’s desperate need for food to ask for sexual favours. Angry villagers accused Mukadziwasha of rampant corruption and gross abuse of human rights. It is understood Mukadziwasha threatens to evict women who refuse to comply with his sexual demands.
He also demands grain from older women, it has emerged. The villagers from the area have written a letter to Gutu District Administrator Roy Hove appealing for his immediate intervention. A local villager said:”The village head demands sexual favours from younger women or else they get excluded from the food distribution process if they do not comply.” Chief Gutu’s representative Kennias Masanganise said he was aware of the matter but he was afraid of Zanu PF politicians who were protecting Mukadziwasha. “I am aware of the incident but there is nothing we can do at the moment. There are people who are protecting him.We summoned him to the chief’s court but he did not come. He ignores Chief Gutu’s directives because he is being backed by powerful politicians,”said Masanganise. Masvingo Provincial social welfare coordinator Ngoni Jakazi said his department would look into the matter.
