ZANU PF weekend revelations that Joice Mujuru used to sleep around during the liberation struggle have opened a can of worms with many starting to interrogate if indeed claims by women war veterans that they were being raped and used as concubines, are true. This also brings to the fore revelations by Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri that she was also raped by Rhodesian agents.
Muchinguri also adds a shocking allegation that People First leader Joice Mujuru was the pimp responsible for forcing young girls into sex with hooligan comrade bosses.
Muchinguri was quoted by official The Sunday Mail saying: “When Joice came back from Zambia, in fact she did not undergo any form of training. A few days after she joined us in Mozambique, Joice physically assaulted me. I, Cde Duri and Cde Chitsotso, resisted sleeping with the likes of Cde [Didymus] Mutasa, Cde Bhombandiani and I was whipped for that. Imagine, Joice was there!
“We want you to understand how young female soldiers suffered as Joice engineered all these abuses,” Muchinguri told party supporters at Vengere Hall in Rusape.
But Muchinguri speaking to the Standard denied ever making such allegations.
“I never said that. What I said was recorded and it is not correct that I said she [Mujuru] did that,” she told The Standard.
Outspoken former female freedom fighter and Zimbabwe Union of Democrats (ZUD) president Margaret Dongo said what Muchinguri said was a tip of the iceberg as a lot was still to be revealed.
“The truth of the matter has not yet been told….abuses of female ex-freedom fighters were so high and sophisticated that they deserve to be paid damages,” said Dongo.
In a weekend state media article it has been claimed that Runaida Mujuru was a chimbwido and the “chimbwidos prepared food for Chipembere and his comrades. Chipembere became interested in Runaida and they became intimate when he finished eating…
“But during the war, we had (rules and warnings) against sleeping with girls or women under such circumstances. Whilst other comrades were relaxing, Joice and Chipembere took that opportunity to enjoy the forbidden fruit.
During the intercourse, a battle broke out (with Rhodesian forces) and Chipembere fought the better part of that battle whilst he was naked.

I also know of one guy who soon after the war in 1979, picked up this woman for a one night stand. He took her to the place where he lodged in Highfield had a nice time and paid her for her services for the night. The next day, in the evening , the woman came back to the house with her belongings as well as her AK 47 rifle and some grenades. Terribly scared,the man had no choice but to allow her to stay. Does anyone actually care whether or not Joice or Muchinguri occasionally or continuously slept with the male fighters. Its a bit like caring whether or not Grace sleeps with some poor man who is not Mugabe. It matters not to those outside ZANU PF.
