More lions were this week reportedly captured so to be shipped to China.
The animal advocacy LionAid NGO reports that they were on Tuesday morning approached with information that the first lion captures of this year began on Monday.

“Three lions, which were taken from Hwange National Park, are already in cages awaiting shipment to China,” the organisation said.
There are now worries that the situation will damage both the ecosystem and in particular the predators’ livelihood.
“There are huge concerns about the number of lions left now in Zimbabwe, especially in Hwange. There are indications that they are simply not enough to form a sustainable basis and the few remaining animals may well become inclined to become aggressive towards humans,” the statement further read.
The report could not be independently verified at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that the capture of elephant calves may resume around March.
