By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Dislodged Zanu PF chairman and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa ally Ezra Chadzamira is denying perceived G40 members and opposition supporters in Masvingo West Constituency access to food aid.
In a typical case of the politicisation of food aid, Chadzamira who is the MP for the constituency, has all but taken over the distribution of food aid from relief organisations and the department of social welfare. Chadzamira was last week spotted in ward 5 in the company of Zanu PF Central Committee member Maina Mandaba.
Chadzamira also instructed the villagers to chant Zanu PF slogans before he vetted the intended beneficiaries. Party sources said the cornered Chadzamira has vowed to fix Grace Mugabe supporters and opposition members in the constituency. Despite the fact that the food was meant for the elderly, child headed families and people with various disabilities, Chadzamira said only Team Lacoste members would benefit from the exercise. Thousands of villagers are facing starvation in the constituency and across the province.
Political observers say it is unfortunate ordinary villagers have been caught up in the nasty Zanu PF factional fights. Asked to comment on the matter Chadzamira angrily fumed, “Do not ask me useless questions.Where did you get the information from?” MDC councillor for ward 5, Elizabeth Ncube said, ” It is really shameful because this particular food aid scheme is meant for the elderly and people with disabilities.Chadzamira doesn’t want to see anyone from the so called G40, Zimbabwe People First and the MDC.
Chadzamira is tampering with a government approved namelist so I think he has gone too far because innocent villagers are now suffering because of Zanu PF infighting. Impeccable sources also revealed Chadzamira is moving around the constituency openly drumming up support for the Team Lacoste while attacking the G40, Zimbabwe People First and the MDC.
