There was drama in Harare last Friday, after a woman went into labour and gave birth to twins on the street.
The woman, according to a local private national radio station,  was coming from Chinhoyi, had to be assisted by street vendors to deliver her twin boys.
“I saw the woman struggling to walk and I asked her if she was well, but she could not respond  and that is when I  realised that she was in pain and was  about to give birth,” said one of the vendors who assisted the woman to deliver.
“I then called other vendors who brought some wrapping towels we use to cover our wares and used them as a tent to cover her, and that time she was already in labour,” she narrated.
She said it did not take them time to assist the woman deliver two boys before an ambulance arrived.
“We were shocked but we are glad that we managed to help her deliver her twins safely without any complications,” she said.
The woman was later rushed to a nearby surgery where she was medically examined by a doctor who confirmed that the newly born twins were in good health.
“I have examined them and the boys are in good health, now what is left is for the mother to call her relatives and bring her clothes for the handsome boys,” the doctor told the radio station .
