Terrence Mawawa, Mwenezi| A 59-year-old man engaged in several sexual acts with his 14-year-old stepdaughter daughter and infected her with the deadly genital herpes.
The man appeared before Magistrate Honest Musiiwa last week. He was convicted after pleading guilty.

The man who comes from Village 6 Baloyi, under Chief Chitanga, cannot be named to protect the minor’s social status.

Facts were that some time in December 2016, the man took advantage of his wife’s absence from home and proposed love to the minor. The minor accepted the proposal and the man had sex with the juvenile on several occasions with her consent.

The matter was discovered last month when the girl’s mother became suspicious and set a trap for the two.

She then found her husband and her daughter having sex in the main bedroom.
She filed a police report, leading to her husband’s arrest.

Prosecutor Willard Chasi told the court that a medical report revealed the girl had been infected with genital herpes.

In mitigation, the man said he was in love with the juvenile. He pleaded for clemency from the court since he was on medication.

” I am on medication so it would be difficult for me to get proper care in prison,” he said.
The court told him he would be granted the freedom to take his medication while in prison.
He was sentenced to four years in jail for the offence.
