By Staff Reporter| 10 MRP youths have been arrested at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds where they had gone to demonstrate against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The activists were protesting over the Gukurahundi massacre of the 1980s – Thousands of Ndebele still do not have birth certificates due to the killings in which President Mnangagwa himself as head of the intelligence encouraged the brutal murders saying the people were cockroaches that need to be wiped out.

The activists were manhandled in public before being taken by law enforcement agents.

Their whereabouts were still unknown at the time of writing and ZimEye is on the ground researching on the matter.

  6. Well said Doc. I think these guys are just being obnoxious for the sake of it. What they stand for is nothing but selfish and divisive. A whole country can not be held to ransom by tribalistic airheads. Baba Chatunga and his wife urinated on them during their youth interface rallies but they said nothing. They are enemies of state and should be treated accordingly.

  12. I am proudly Ndebele, my vote will never be for tribalists and opportunists. I never supported Zanu PF in my life because of what they represented, a divide and rule strategy. For me to be employed at ZRP, I was to be a member of the youth brigade. Companies like Conolys were hiring based on the surname. Because of this I couldnt dare be a member of Zanu PF. This so-called mthwakazi is nothing other than old Zanu PF inverse.

    We lost friends and relatives to the fifth brigade. Personally I have accepted the loss and moved on. To stay away from the past Zanu PF, I moved to SA where I built my life free of Zanu PF. With the recent turn of events, Zanu PF leadeship has promised a new Zanu PF that see all Zimbabweans as equals.

    At first I was sceptic though happy that Mugabe, who was also a tribalist was out of our lives. But listening to public utterances by the current President, I see this new Zanu PF as a way of reuniting the fragmented Zimbabwe. Mnangagwa, as the head if state and the president of Zanu PF has discouraged personal praisse and has stressed again and again that no Zimbabwean is better than the other regardless of position. We can’t therefore allow a few individuals trying to take us back. There may be shortcomings here and there but lets work together to rectify the wrongs.

    I urge all the true Ndebeles to forget about tribal differences and work with whoever wants to take Zimbabwe forward, this includes any opposition sharing the same values.

    It saddens to see some people filked with so much hate. This hate will surely consume them in the end.

    Shona is pretty much linked to Kalanga,chewa in Malawi,Venda,nyanja on Zambia ,Shona is also spoken in Mozambique,the western parts…

    I agree with people demonstrating,and lobbying for any funny reasons. . however there is a line between practising ones rights and abusing ones privileges ….

    MRP is an enemy of Zimbabwe…anyone who views that ZIMBABWE must be divided into 2 halves…one for shonas and the other for Ndebeles is AN ENEMY OF THE STATE …I have no mercy for them

  48. It is incidents like these that force the security forces to react and the cycle starts again. We can easily slide into another string of rebellion which will be met by fresh killings again. Why would someone not forgive? We can easily subject ourselves to God’s curse by not forgiving. How will our country be healed when people can not forgive each other. If we ever want to see our country prosper, we should stop this unforgiving attitude, especially the media which seems to fan the whole situation. I can promise you we can easily slide back to those dark days of the Gayigusus and Gweselas if there is no forgiveness.

    Birth certificate argument is a non starter for the open minded, the country has procedures for such cases. They should go to the Tsholotsho office for advise. Kasifuni bumbulu, we have suffered enough and we want, the real Ndebele people want to built our lives after Mugabe. Sitshiyenini sinjalo…don’t represent us in your nonsense to seek relevance. We want peace, tell Dabengwa as well that the people of Matebeleland want peace and not this nonsense.
