Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo | Police here have expressed concern at the high incidence of murder cases across the province.
Police Spokesperson for Masvingo Province, Inspector Charity Mazula has appealed to families to resolve conflicts in an amicable manner following a case in which a Bikita man brutally killed his father over a hoe dispute.
Naboth Macheke(47) of Murambiwa Village in Bikita was arrested last week for brutally killing his father, Boniface Macheke.
“The dispute started when Naboth’ s father asked him why he had taken his hoe without permission.
As the argument ensued, Naboth stoned his father’s goat and in a fit of rage the latter armed himself with a machete.
He charged towards his son and tried to attack him with the machete.
However, Naboth snatched the machete and attacked his father who died on the spot.
Naboth’ s younger brother tried in vain to rescue the old man,” police in Bikita said.
