By Farai D Hove| The late MDC founder, Morgan Tsvangirai’s properties have gone public for the fist time after his death mid last month.
His widow Ms Elizabeth Macheka has been under pressure from the Tsvangirai family over the man’s wealth. The development saw Elizabeth being humiliated by her mother in law during the arrival of the body at the Harare International airport last month.
Back in the 1990s Morgan Tsvangirai owned a house in Ashdown Park, Mabelreign.
As it was too small for his family, after the formation of the MDC party, Tsvangirai later relocated to another property near the city centre, in Strathaven. Fast forward to 2013, Tsvangirai was allocated a house in Highlands by the government.
When he was threatened with eviction after the 2013 elections, Tsvangirai consistently told former ZANU PF National Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, that the property was part of private deal between him and former President Robert Mugabe.
But when she registered the property yesterday, his widow, Elizabeth excluded the Highlands mansion. It could not be ascertained at the time of writing why Ms Macheka did this.
Previously Tsvangirai has been recorded as the owner of movable property which include 22 Isuzu trucks, eight Nissan trucks and several other vehicles. – More to follow…
